Still, prefer Brain or Freese over Hawkins.

I've always liked Taylors drumming, but I think his personality would get in the way. I don't think he would have stuck around for Axls shit (at the time). Say he'd jump at the chance now... like most drummers.

I actually think the first foos album is better than nevermind and what nirvana released after combined.

That's not really saying much.

Michael Bland (Prince, Soul Asylum) also auditioned for GnR.

That would have been awesome.

Hawkins is a great drummer but I can't imagine him playing with GnR. He was also still a drug user by that time (he OD'd on heroin in 2001 and ended up in a coma for weeks), can't imagine Axl wanting to work with drug users again either.

you wouldn't have thought Dave Grohl would have wanted too either

I don't think he was using when he joined the band in 1997 but things got a bit out of control during the 2000/2001 tour for all of them, but Hawkins took it too far. They talk about it in that Back And Forth documentary.

I remember an article linking Igor Cavalera to GN'R back in the day. I was speaking to Joey Jordison about it in 2002 when he was touring with Murderdolls, and he said he had also been asked!

He said a lot of big names were asked at the time, some auditioning, some not. Would love a 'Some Kind of Monster' style documentary showing the auditions from back then.
