Yeah, Team Brazil's total lack of promotion for Absurd and Hard Skool is what killed them. Hard Skool got a half-arsed lyric video a month or so after release, which was about all the promotion it got.

If either of the singles had actually been promoted properly, they could've had more success.

A new Guns N Roses album would be pretty successful if it were promoted properly by actual professionals.

TB does what Axl says. It was most likely Axl who stymied any attempts by the band to show any level of enthusiasm for the “new” music outside of the parameters Axl instituted.

What part of that is bullshit? 😄 Very accurate, but very much ignored because it suits.

Anyway.... This is a gig thread, I'm sure there's threads specific to politics if people want to discuss this.

Bands should not get involved in politics. It’s about connecting people through music, the commonality of music should cross any divides. But it turns into pandering to whatever is the “now” topic. I think it’s best to let the music do the talking and let’s keep these threads about the music and the band.

The band supports aid to Ukraine, and forgets about the hundreds of thousands persecuted in Palestine by the Isralesque political regime. Shame.

The bullshit never gets old. Just keep repeating it over and over and surely enough people will believe it.

What? TIL was on Chinese, OMG was on the End of Days soundtrack and Hard Skool and Absurd were released last year.

All official releases by Guns N' Roses.

Obviously I’m referring to the unreleased leaks plus the updated version of OMG. Certainly I’m aware of HS and Absurd. We’ve already concluded the fate of Going Down and likely SOG as well.

Just because OMG was released on a soundtrack while many suggest Axl retroactively called it a “demo” doesn’t change the fact that there is another version floating around. And certainly nothing has stopped GNR from releasing more than one version of the same song on multiple albums in the past.

Don’t mind me, I’m just hoping the long layover on the singles Slash promised is because they decided to more songs for a proper album/EP release.

    a guy can dream right?

Maybe that’s the plan. Which doesn’t mean much in the GNR world. I think Axl should just unload an EP right now:

    OMG (studio version)

    Atlas

    Perhaps

    Going Down

I was able to listen at work until the end of Anything Goes. I was surprised that they brought that song back. I'm looking forward to the MetLife show!!!!

I might be in Jersey in August. I’ll wait until they start dumping tickets to buy as I’m not too keen on sitting very close to the stage anyway. Not sure changing up an already stale setlist will help to move more tickets for the wretched masses.

I disagree. While it is true that they've had lots of success and have no need for feeling embarrassed at the situation, I do think it is shameful to PRETEND to still want to release new music and not be honest about their intentions of just being legacy

I think it’s pretty apparent that everyone in the band barring W.A.R wants to release and make music. But there’s no democracy in GNR. The bands decisions and direction follow the whims of its leader. His decision is the only say, the final say in all matters GNR related.

I've been in a Live Album phase with Metallica since seeing them for the first time in Amsterdam last month... absolutely pissed all over GNR in every aspect of performance

I have seen Metallica live far more than GNR. Night and day difference. Metallica shows are actually enjoyable even when James’ voice strains. Granted, Axl’s songs are infinitely harder to sing. But the general atmosphere and interaction and energy during Metallica shows are second to none. Much better merchandise as well.

Call Of Ktulullulululu, Sad But True, Battery, Whiplash, Seek & Destroy, the list goes on... wish So What would come out every so often live

Basically the entire Kill ‘Em” All album is a delight to listen to when driving. Actually they have a solid collection of songs that always sound good live. I have seen Metallica countless times over the years. Far better show than GNR has been in ions.

Jarmo’s got plenty of time on his hands along with “management”, the least they could do is review the fan club members who already received the HS vinyl last year and send them a different fucking item for their sins!

Jarmo would never give up his seat in the inner circle to otherwise be cast into the outer darkness. We all know Jarmo will never risk being shunned by Axl and management.

My opinion, Covid delayed everything, including physical music releases and still affects pretty much all sorts of things.
That aside with this band, those that didn’t give a shit before still don’t and those that did probably give less of a shit now.

I doubt royalties are stopping it as those things are usually hashed out in the beginning and I’m sure several lawyers were involved. The guys in a band making music is long gone and the business partners in GNR will do what’s good for their interest in the business.

Covid delayed absolutely nothing in regards to new music being released. Had it not been Covid, it would have been some other calamity that was the hypothetical delay. We would be in the exact position we are now.

And this is the exact reason they have fans waiting after 15 years still, aside from two 20 year old tracks released with new guitars. Only GNR has this level of faith in stuff Axl said back in 2009 and will still wait day after day!

Slash may have said stuff like that but it doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Besides, I was more reflecting on the traditional mygnr anticipation that when a tour starts we expect a new song on the opening night or a single to drop and then everyone says "fuck this band" when it doesn't happen, despite the band never actually saying it will!

Yes I know you were, I’m just trying to keep the thread going 🥲 clearly there won’t be any music released prior to the first show as it hasn’t happened previously, so I’m not expecting it now. Axl does everything ass backwards and without any logic or rationale.

It’s a real shame too because it’s the perfect time to release something, anything. I think the genre is hungry for it. I think new music might spark some interest, but we all know it would be a lowest case denominator release with little to no acknowledgment from Axl.

With the tour starting soon shouldn't we be expecting a new single, based on nothing, so that we can get angry when it doesn't appear after the first tour date?

Based on nothing? There’s no bases for us to expect new music? It wasn’t Axl who stated more than a few times that we would be getting follow up albums? That there is a considerable amount of music in the pipeline? That we wouldn’t be waiting as long as we did for CD?

It wasn’t Slash who suggested more tunes are coming after the release of Hardskool and the abominable Absurd?

Of course we are expecting new music, because we have been told there’s plenty of it and it’s coming. We already know it will come with little warning, no promotion and no continuity. So yes, we are expecting new music to come and when it doesn’t we will be upset and rightfully so.
