Usually Setlist FM gives a reliable source of what the setlist was. The General is marked on there. If it was or wasn’t played, should expect a surprise release tomorrow and live debut in Duff’s home town of Seattle??

Setlist is a reliable source after maybe a day or so but definitely not while the show is going on. They should ban those trolls.

I'll always say this for the 'same material' comment,  no offence BTW

They'll always play the big hits, Jungle, scom etc, but same set for 7 years? Perhaps, Hard Skool, Absurd, bad obsession, PTU, down on the farm, anything goes , they've nearly played all of Chinese, a few afd and illusion deep cuts...no black hole sun, which was great for a few shows, I do like the seeker but they've plenty of their own stuff too

The setlist now is probably the best they've done over a tour, very happy what I saw in Glasgow and London

It was in that slot mostly in Europe this summer

Yes yes, let’s not get into that old playlist debate; they’ve shaken things up recently (primarily perhaps to accommodate the selection to Axl’s current abilities – hence all the low-register songs), and yes, they’ve finally added some newer stuff, but a few 20-year old demos don’t change the fact they’ve been basically still doing NITL with alternations. Sure they’ll always play the big hits, but you can always take a look at how other bands do it – a few old tracks but mixed with a new album. We’re used to something completely different with GNR over the years, so we now think there’s like 10 to 15 songs that absolutely have to be played, and the rest may be filled with other stuff – while this is a complete nonsense. Maybe 5 songs. It’s all about new releases and their progressive incorporation. Which is a pickle in our case.
Anyway, the point was that even if I’m not attending the show, the fact how they shake up the setlist over a tour leg affects directly whether or not I buy the ticket. Not to mention new music.
    As you were.

They've been on a non stop tour for 7.5 years, they're not young guys anymore lol

I couldn't care less what the setlist is, encore wise etc, loco and sorry are great live...but as I'm not there, I'm not too bothered what they play

Fair point, but just to add, some people base their ticket-buying decisions on how innovative/exciting the band (the playlist) is. Just saying.
(Plus the fact they’ve been touring basically the same material for this long is their decision only. Nobody forced them to do that.)

Rio mostly became a meme because people didn't like Axl's raincoat and because Bumble fumbled with the SW helmet. Again, this fanbase....

Nah, it was primarily because Axl looked fat and his vocals sucked (at least when compared with the high bar that 2010 was). The rest was just icing. But like I said, opinions differ.

It was mostly okay to good even back then. People just cherrypicked some parts they didn't like and pushed the narrative that the entire two shows were rubbish.

I haven't seen it "in ages" (funny how the language has been devaluating in recent times), but I do remember it sucked quite a lot. It's no coincidence this gig, along with Rio 11, became a meme, even though we'd find worse shows in the later era. Each to their own, though.

Just watched Bridge School concert. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It got shit on at the time because Axl was like 45 minutes late and because of the lyrical swap during Jungle. Otherwise I found it quite enjoyable.

The fact that a certain level gradually decreases over time doesn’t mean our evaluation at the time was wrong. That logic is erroneous; we were (correctly) using different standards then.

  7. Wikipedia says:

"The band used 15 studios during production, including Capitol Studios, Cherokee Studios, Electric Lady Studios, Sunset Sound Recorders, and The Village."

Dunno where this info is originally from, but:
I don’t know what we’ll get, but I do know it would be insane to think that all Axl has was recorded in The Village and he used another 14 studios just to tinker with those few songs with vocals.
Even if the Village CDs are all there is (which I don’t believe), that still means dozens of those other songs without vocals, which he must have tackled to some degree in those other studios.

Now, take these, add one or two new songs and one or two 90s songs and you got yourself several possible albums stepwise. Sounds unbelievable and crazy, but it's still logical.

  8. Saw it yesterday. Not bad. It has a different vibe than Dead City. Judging from the previews at the end of the episode, it could be really good.

Also, Rick’s story is now named TWD: The Ones Who Live, and Wikipedia says: "The first season will consist of six episodes and is intended to be a continuing series."

Surely there’s not an album coming. We’ve been drip fed Axl’s CD2 ‘big ones’… and they’ve all been standalone releases. Are people thinking they’re going to compile these and put out an album with hard skool, perhaps etc on it? Absurds been out for years. Makes no sense. The General is a B Side too perhaps, and Atlas Shrugged is getting the same treatment soon by all accounts. Why would they squander these tracks as standalone releases if they were intending to do an album?

an album of original NILT material still seems hugely unlikely because the fact still remains, Axl can’t sing like he used to.

He sounded bad in 2018 (or ever since 2016/17) and yet Rock the Rock was a nice typical Axl. All he has to do is create 3–4 new songs where he doesn’t even have to overstretch himself. Throw in another 6 CD2 leftovers (maybe including some of the current singles) with already existing vocals, and you have a 10-track new album and everyone is happy. Add something from the 90s and it’ll be perfect.
    It’s still doable.

Well, we no longer have daily messages here in this thread. I guess many know they will get The General and then will just move on.

I firmly believe someone will come up with some rumour soon after. And a rumour these days means just a message like "insiders say Seven / Soul Monster is next" posted somewhere on Reddit. No evidence, links or anything. Oh we’ll always have something to talk about.

well they do share some musical similarities and influences. The style of playing is not completely different like we're comparing a rock player with a jazz player for example. Bucket can do a lot of shit that Slash is not interested in but a lot of what Bucket does can fall under the hard rock category with melody as its focus.

Something does, something doesn’t, but does that really change anything about the principle I’ve described? I don’t think so.

But then, I’m really just pointing it out. I understand this type of bickering is normal in fan communities, whether it concerns a rock band or a space opera franchise.
