The fact that he autistically repeated the same shit forever wasn't as bad as the fact he kept ruining every single thread he set foot in with it.

I wouldn't expect a new record before 2025. Even that sounds crazy.

Soul Monster is so desperate for Pele to be wrong because he invested so many months and years arguing with him, and since Pele has been banned and those arguments forced to be over, Pele's argument has only continued to be given more and more reason to be correct.
Definitely not taking any sides here, but as far as I remember, what the Pele guy was saying is that all they’ll release are these Village songs that have lyrics, and that’s all. They surely have done that so far, and more songs in the same vein may come, but that doesn’t mean he "was right", because we don’t know what will come next, do we. And as soon as they release a different song that we either don’t know about or that didn’t have lyrics in the Village bunch, his theories are over.
Plus he was acting like a sociopath... but then, he’s not the only one here, regardless of opinion "sides". -

I suppose once a new song has been played then they're commited to actually releasing it, going from the last two. It's a bigger deal then playing Pretty Tied Up.
They started to play UYI songs in January and released the actual thing in September.
However, they definitely should release a single first and only then do it live, not the other way round. The live version could kinda harm the initial impression.

All these people are experts on how Axl should live his life. He likes to tour and travel and do live shows and people are still coming out to the shows in large crowds. Let the man live his life the way he wants, he has earned that in life. He doesn't need anyone on mygnrforums approval lol
I am not doing that. This is a place for chatting, and we’re chatting about his voice, making assumptions, conjectures, speculations, and voicing opinions, as usual.
His voice-wise, what I suggested would be the best thing to do. As much as I love him, he's been ruining what's left in his tank by cash-grab touring.
By your logic, we shouldn’t comment on anything. Were they playing the same setlist in the recent years? Let them live their life, they don’t play for people on the internet!
Basically, we should turn into Htgth and just praise everything, no?
Shit happens, people will comment on it, deal with it. That’s what this place is for, last time I checked.6 hours ago, Jw224 said:Axl implied he sang that way intentionally to preserve his voice.
Perhaps. More of a mystery of the 2002 vs 2006 difference.

I think the change from 2002 to 6 is slightly more intentional then we give credit for. In the china exchange interview he did mention about choosing to sing cleaner for the album and when they first came back. He was aware it wasn't received well and I think 2006 saw a shift to a more easy to swallow "new guns" concept, with a better choice of clothes on stage, the classic voice, band members looking less unusual and some more classic style merch ideas.
He did say that, but I can’t imagine anyone would choose singing that (often) horribly in places where normal rasp should have been (especially in the classic old songs - we're not talking solely about the CD material, are we), unless they had to. Plus the thinning out already from the late 90s... Nah, I think even though he did that deliberately on the album, I think he had to anyway. Especially considering that if he hadn’t do that, the difference between the studio and live versions would have been too huge. He knew he was gonna have to sing these songs live for a long time from then on.
Anyway, my bet is on vocal surgery between 2003 and 2006. -

As long as they keep alternating and swapping it like this, it's pretty cool, because it's kinda exciting and you never know what they'll play (except for the staples, of course). They should have started doing this years ago.
Edit: I know, Axl doesn't play a single note for some internet guys from Iowa, I know...

The big question. Does anybody know what happened to Axl from 2010 to 2011 and nowadays. Why he cant sing like 2010 or 2006. I read something in 2020 that he damaged his vocal chords
It’s still a mystery, and there have been numerous speculations. The shift between his 2010 level and 2011 level is really audible. The strong rasp didn’t disappear, but he shifted from the former level to just using it more sparsely. I ascribe it to the fact he can’t sustain such a strain for longer than a year. After all, he started to thin out even in 93 already (as opposed to the chainsaw the 1992 version was). I think 06/07 was a bit similar. And the same could be corroborated by 2016: the AC/DC thing was immense, but comparing his GNR performance of 2016 with 2017, he once again started to save his voice later. The remaining years are a result of the protracted (and unnecessary) touring.
The real mystery is 2002 vs. 2006, with the former being a thinned out approach and the latter basically good old strong voice coming back. If it had been just the age thing, it would have happened contrariwise. People have suggested vocal cords surgery, an illness etc.
So yes, sometimes the difference between just two years is really palpable, and simply ascribing it to the age factor doesn’t always make much sense, especially not in the 2002/2006 case. Which is why they always only should tour for a year or two, then take a break and probably work on something new...- 2

Absurd was meh, don't know why they bothered with that, Hard Skhool was awesome though!
I do wonder, if the new album will be all reworked tunes from the Chinese era, with Slash and Duff in there, or half that and half super brand new, or all brand new stuff? They could release two different sets of songs. It's hard to tell atm.
Yeah, I hope it will be a few of each. I wouldn’t want an album made of just CD2 demos. On the other hand, we cannot expect brand new songs only, that’d be crazy. So what we can hope for is a mixture. Who wouldn’t want that.

The sad thing we are expecting leftovers from CD. Perhaps 6/10 absurd 2/10 harskool 5/10 do i miss any song more? If they put this to a new album would be a disaster. Ok if they put this to ep and then the band go to a studio and make a new recors will be ok
I basically agree. Axl needs to get some songs off his chest, especially if they’re good, otherwise it would be a shame if we never got to hear them; on the other hand, new releases should feature their new music at some point, whether or not some of the origins may be a bit historic. They shouldn’t release just CD2 leftovers. We need to see them function as a band (not just a touring band) and a creative entity. Copy-pasting guitars to old tracks doesn’t quite do it (even though I’d love to hear all the drawer stuff, obviously), and I still think they can make better tunes than what we’ve heard from the demos so far.
I hope we’ll get something from each of the sides.- 2

They have plenty of good songs to make these tours fresh without new music and this current tour is proving that. There's a bunch of old songs that hadn't been done justice in a long time that are cool to hear. The current setlist is a perfect mix of appealing to hardcore fans and the general audience.
Absolutely

Now THIS is what I was talking about when I said shuffle the fucking playlist.
This is what they did at the beginning of 2016. Fuck yeah.

And a Columbo case #2:
This is a Christmas present from my sister’s bf. He’s a photographer / graphic designer, so he kinda printed it and basically made a painting out of it for me, to be put on the wall. When I asked him where he’d got it, he said somewhere off the net, but I’m almost convinced this is some official litho.
Now, the question is, does anyone have any idea what city/event/date/whatever this is related to? I'd just like to know what it is that I'm about to hang on my wall (yes, I still haven't put it up). Can provide a better resolution/pic if needed.
Much appreciated, and that will be all for tonight, thank you! -
Patton Oswalt on Axl @ MTV (old)
From Reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/GunsNRoses/comments/1455xfj/sorry_axl_fans/This is really funny, but does anyone have any idea which VMA he’s talking about? The only two with WTTJ I know of are 88 and 02. This description, however, fits neither.

Given I’m in the same time zone as Spain and they start around 9.30 and it’s Friday, I might be too drunk by that time to watch this thread tonight - so in any case, enjoy yourselves, folks!
