Question: Were there merchandise stands at this show? Someone posted on HTGTH that they're doing away with them and only selling online to prevent crowds/long lines.

Here's my review!
This was my second show (first was NITL 2016 at Gillette). I'm a sucker for pyro and was a little bummed they didn't have it but whatever. Opener went on time, and I believe Guns went on SLIGHTLY late but barely. Acoustics in Fenway park are terrible, but to me honest it helped Axl's case a bit. Mickey was barely noticeable in person (at least from where I was in the Grandstand). He is 100% seeing a vocal coach or something. I noticed the songs were MUCH SLOWER. They're all played down a key on the tempo. To compare, watch a video of WTTJ from 2016 vs 2021. It's much slower. Axl is also skipping lyrics when he's winded rather than trying to force them out, and it's much better this way. There were moments he skipped entire lines, but the fans singing along made it fine. I also noticed he was trying to sing in a deeper voice rather than go high, and there were points where he was going between the two voices (I noticed it a lot during Sweet Child O mine). I feel like he is very aware of the "mickey" voice and is trying to do something different. The band are clearly making efforts (especially playing slower).
Slash was of course on point, nothing surprising there. Duff was fantastic. Absurd was an incredible surprise, knowing it's Silkworms doesn't matter to me because it honestly was just fucking rad to hear the "We're gonna try something new..." speech in person. It was one of my "list items" The merch truck was sold out of the exclusive shirt in everything but small by 6 also, so if you want it in person get there sooner! I was bummed to not get Patience, Don't Cry, or Coma but I had those in 2016 so I'm not too bummed. Absurd was such a welcome surprise I am okay with it. It gives me hope we'll hear Hard School! So what time would you say they actually came on stage at?

They MUST include either Patience or Don't Cry (ideally BOTH) back into the setlist moving forward. Not seeing either the first two shows is extremely disappointing to me.

Question: What time did WVH come on stage and then what time did GNR come on stage? I'm taking my 72 year old mom to the MetLife show in NJ on Thursday and don't want her to have to sit in the seat any longer than necessary. Seeing WVH is NOT a priority for me. Thank you!

I'd love to see him sit down with Rogan for a few hours, but he never will.

That's kinda harsh. Look, everyone has a different metabolism. Some people don't work out and eat whatever they want and are still really skinny, even at an older age. And others gain weight very easily even if they work out like crazy. Axl has never been really fat and especially not in the last years. Sure, he's no Duff, but there can be many reasons for that.
No, it's clear that Axl never puts in as much effort as possible to get in the best shape he can for his age. It's not harsh, it's simply true. He's the center focus for one of the biggest acts in show business and he clearly could do more to get in better shape.

He SHOULD motivate himself to get in the best shape possible for his age (as Duff always seems able to do) but he won't. He'll probably carry around 25+ extra pounds and use the first few shows as a warm up vocally.

I kinda admire its experimental originality and do listen to it sometimes, but probably wouldn't really give it the time of day if Axl/GNR hadn't created it.
-
Axl sounds like shit, isn't in very good shape and he takes certain songs out of the setlist because he can no longer sing them.
-
For me, if the track list had been as follows, choosing between Appetite or the best of the Illusions would be the hardest life choice I would EVER have to make:
1) Civil War 2)Yesterdays 3)Knocking on Heaven's Door 4)Breakdown 5)You Could Be Mine 6)Estranged 7)Don't Cry 8)November Rain 9) Coma 10) Dead Horse 11) Don't Damn Me 12) Right Next Door to Hell 13) Pretty Tied Up

I mean, you kinda gotta admit that Rush was accurate with his 'spoiled brat' comment about Axl's St. Louis antics.

Can someone please update me on this latest rumor? What did I miss? Why are people speculating about a November single release?

Can someone please change the title of this thread to the "The NO new album thread?" Thanks

I'm actually heartened that these are old demos that weren't intentionally leaked by any official GNR member. I want newer, fresher material on a potential new album.
-
1) Sweet Child O' Mine
2) Estranged
3) Patience
4) November Rain
5) Rocket Queen
Ask me tomorrow and three of these can easily be replaced with others, such as Knockin on Heaven's Door, Nightrain, Civil War, Don't Cry......on and on.

Seeing a setlist that includes a cover of 'The Seeker' and NOT 'Patience' is completely unjustified in my opinion.

It's interesting that this isn't the original MTV video.

Am I the only one that's utterly mortified at the prospect of updated versions of all of these old leaks being included on a potential 'new' Guns N Roses album? If all we're going to get are modern renditions of this stuff, I, for one, will be disappointed.

If songs like this can be brought to future recording sessions with Slash and Duff, I think the upside could be pretty great. It needs some tweaks, reworking, etc, but it was exciting to listen to as is and to imagine what it can become.

Older material not in the vain of classic G'NR....totally what I don't want.

This is the worst fucking article I have EVER read

1) Axl's failure to get in maximum physical and vocal shape at all times is inexcusable
2) The Illusions should have been one album

I'd hope there would be newish (post 2008) ideas that Axl will bring to this project. If so, Duff and Slash can help give it an authentic, non-CD2 authenticity. A combo of unreleased, old stuff with a fresh take combined with new creativity could make for an interesting album.

Sounded way better live last night at MetLife (I was there).
This is overproduced and robs the song of its rocking vibe. Absurd indeed
