A lot of this was painful to watch. I am NOT bashing Axl (I am actually a rather large Axl apologist), but he only has himself to thank for this negative and in many ways, inevitable, backlash. If he would SIMPLY get his ass into better shape then his performances would be better. If he could muster up enough motivation to lose 15-20lbs of fat and get his cardio going, his vocal performances would at least be 50% better. Has his vocal range narrowed due to the aging process? Of course! Does he get out of breath a lot due to being out of shape? Fuck yes. What to say. The life of a GNR fan.

The current GNR are still, on their best night, the best rock n roll band on the planet. Exhibit A) Roseland 2012. However, Axl's obvious lack of concern over his appearance and seeming unwillingness to consistently get himself into top shape, both physically and vocally, has opened up this band to so many cheap shots. Alot of the jokes surrounding Axl really are attributable to no one other than himself. If he was motivated enough to get into serious shape (and do normal promotional work) then so many things for GNR would be better.

I think GNR in their heyday, not Axl individually, are highly comparable to a prime Mike Tyson. Both, at their peak, were forces to be reckoned with that brought talents that hadn't been seen in years, if ever. If both had maintained their hold for a few more years, they could have maybe become the GOAT.

It makes me feel sad and think 'What could have been." All the amazing music they could have made together. If they had remained together, nowadays they could be seen as a modern day Rolling Stones and perhaps considered the greatest rock band of all time.

Unquestionable similarities between Tyson and GNR/Axl. Both, at their peak, are arguably the greatest ever. Neither, however, sustained the throne lone enough to be collectively recognized as the best. That does NOT take away from the greatness realized and achievements accomplished that so few other athletes and musicians experience. Each should be proud of what they left behind and whatever marks they continue to create in their lifetimes.

I like this song. I like how the guitar kicks in and then cascades in and out at the very end. I also like the production, or should I say, lack of production on this track. If this in any way signals a departure from the HIGH production of CD to a more raw, Appetite type mode, then I am happy. In and of itself, I think it's a good song that needs a bit of work.

Axl's aging
in 2013
It's really disappointing that he doesn't whip his butt into top shape. A) It would unquestionably make his performances better and B) It would take so much fuel away from the fire of the critics that are only focused on the music secondarily.

Not necessarily in any particular order
Estranged
Sweet Child O Mine
Rocket Queen
Nightrain
Welcome to the Jungle
Paradise City
Knocking on Heaven's Door
Civil War
Patience
Don't Cry
November Rain
You Could Be Mine
My top Chinese Democracy songs are Catcher in the Rye, IRS, This I Love and Prostitute.

I temporarily had very negative feelings towards Axl after I saw GNR in Paris in 2010 and the delayed start resulted in the metro being closed after the show. Was EXTREMELY inconvenient and even dangerous for thousands of people. I got over it though

Rocker: IRS
Ballad: This I Love
I don't consider 'Catcher in the Rye' a ballad.

No doubt Kanye is talented, but likening himself to an iconic rockstar is like an apple comparing itself to an orange. Totally different type of music and vibe. I do like, though, that he viewed Axl as a quintessential rock star on the level of Morrison and Hendrix...which he is!!

Use Your Illusion I was the first CD I ever got. I was like 12 or 13 at the time and had absolutely no attention span and skipped most songs except for Don't Cry and November Rain. Years later I gained an appreciation for Dead Horse, Right Next Door and only recently, Coma. I did alot of skipping around on Use Your Illusion 2 as well, though regarded it as the superior album. I still remember the first time I heard Estranged and the way time stopped and my breath was taken away by the verse and guitar solo after the mid piano transition. Where it stands today, I cannot tell you what I would prefer: The best of the Illusion albums or Appetite. I simply cannot choose.

It's the closest thing to a Use Your Illusion era sounding rocker on CD.
-
Because he'd be a better performer and would get much less ridicule if he kept his ass in shape

Axl has many masterpieces.

I could be there right now. I am depressed.

I guess it's not acoustic. LOL.
-
This is an acoustic show? That was NOT advertised.

I loved it. Was great exposure for the band and everything was positive. They mentioned GNR's headlining gig at Governor's Ball and that this was only a warm up show. Really good stuff.
-
The just show the preview for it! It's coming on now, right after commercial.

How many people were there?

Was there in the front row opening night. Loved it! One of the best GNR shows I've been too. Axl was on fire!
