My guess is that Axl wouldn’t green light the UYI box unless the label agreed to promote the new album.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually think something is up and that a release is coming.  How long did Hard Skool pop up on Spotify before release?

When Absurd dropped, didn’t someone figure out that there were 10-12 other placeholders that sequentially fell in the numerical range for song copyright registration or something like that?  If so, how many placeholders were there?

Demos would have been cool but at least the live shows are something.  Finally.

If this has any chance of releasing this year, I think they need to announce and start promoting in the next 3 weeks.  They were never gonna announce it before Labor Day in the U.S.   The late summer is typically when lots of people are on vacation.

When I saw Duff and Slash in their video message in front of the  drum kit with the gn’r emblem on it, I immediately thought “no Axl, figured as much- all he had to do was stand next to those guys for 2 minutes and he obviously couldn’t be bothered.”   It’s kinda sad actually.

Not necessarily.  I think MCA from Beastie Boys had something in his will about restricting uses/releases of BB music.  For example, BB music apparently can never be used in a commercial because of this.

This box set is the only thing related to gnr that I feel like I can legitimately look forward to, and that’s sad because it hasn’t even been officially announced and may not even happen.

Good video.  I seem to recall Fernando or someone affiliated with the band expressly saying, at the time of the AFD reissue, that OIAM “had no place” in the AFD reissue or something to that effect.  This wasn’t a straight assertion that they aren’t ever going to reissue Lies but implicitly it seems that this is their current view.  

Wow - great find, fellas. The interesting thing I took from the ISRC Handbook quoted on the prior page is that these codes are only to be assigned after the mixing phase.  that's good in terms fo timing for a potential release.  Of course, this is gn'r we're talking about, so these songs may never be released at all.  

I like it a lot.  I like some parts of the demo better but whatever.  It’s still new music and it’s a cool banger to blast in the car with an old school gn’r vibe.  As others have mentioned, the beginning of the song is definitely the end of a prior song, so that stupid tracklist from me the GNFNR EP wad total BS (thank God).

I’d be happy with an EP or anything at this point.

I was 11 years old, and I remember seeing the YCBM video that came out alongside Terminator 2.  When UYI albums dropped, it was beyond huge.  My pre-teen friends and I had a conversation akin to the following: “which one has YCBM?  II?  Ok, get that one.  But wait, the other one has November Rain and Don’t Cry.  Well, II also has Don’t Cry.”  
 

To this day, I love ‘em both.  I do think II is ever so slightly better though.  It was great seeing them dust off Civil War finally in 2010 (or whenever that was), and I’m so glad it’s a live staple now.

Really hoping for a cool box set, with demos and at least a live show on vinyl that we haven’t heard.  

It’s lame that they didn’t play it tonight (and the constant sound checking is equally lame - it’s a dick-tease to gn’r fans, who are arguably the most tortured in all of music -bands that are dead or been broken up for decades consistently release exponentially more music than this band).  That said, I do think it will come out this month with a new album by December.  Why do I think this?  Because I’m a f@cking idiot that can’t help himself.
