One thing is for sure, we all are so fast to slam the band and their performances....... but from my own experience over the years, as well as talking to others, seeing posts on here. There is no doubt that fans absolutely love it when they are there in person.

Glad you had a blast dude. How was the rest of the crowd?

Crowd was great around me.  At one point the moon was up over the open air stadium and Axl commented that Jupiter was also out (he made a joke about giving the crowd an astronomy lesson).  Beautiful clear night.

I've been thinking about it and it's kind of funny how Chinese Democracy sounded dated in 2008 but would have fit right in if it was released in 2000 like it was originally planned.

And here we are 21 years later and that nu-metalish sound is making a strong comeback.  Bands like Code Orange, Fever333 and Bad Wolves are all starting to break out who totally have that sound.  Even Limp Bizkit played a huge crowd at Lollapalooza and there is huge buzz about them again.

And here's GnR dropping Absurd right as that sound is starting to blow up again.

    Good points here.

Tbh, I think we would've got it by now if Axl's voice was in better shape. They obviously don't want to debut it live with him struggling to pull it off, as it would be all over the rock press (like Absurd was) and a bad vocal performance wouldn't do the single release any favours.

My guess is, Axl is waiting for his vocals to strengthen before debuting it live and then putting it out as a single.

This 100%.  I’m thinking they debut it in a couple weeks in LA.

It really was, it was blank tapes a go go back then, I would spend entire nights copying tapes swapped at school that day. I was 12 in 91 and it was mostly the older brothers of my friends who bought the tapes or got the live bootlegs we traded.

Use your illusion 1 & 2 came my way in oct or nov 91 on blank tapes, no track listing! I had to get that later.

But when I look at the list of albums I got my hands on that year in 1991 it’s ridiculous. Maybe the golden era for rock music. I had some original cassettes but mostly blank copies of the following albums released in 91:

Use your illusion 1 - GnR

Use your illusion 2 - GnR

    1916 - Motorhead

    Uncle Anesthesia - Screaming Trees

    Nevermind - Nirvana

    Recurring - Spacemen 3

    Green Mind - Dinosaur Jr

    Out of Time - REM

The Real Ramona - Throwing Muses

    Goat - Jesus Lizard

    Gothic - Paradise Lost

    Spiderland - Slint

    Arise - Sepultura

Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog

God Fodder - Neds Atomic Dustbin

    Gish - Smashing Pumpkins

13 point program to destroy America - The Nation of Ulysses

    Baby teeth - Therapy?

Every good boy deserves fudge - Mudhoney

To mother - Babes in toyland

steady diet of nothing - Fugazi

    Blue lines - Massive attack

    Black album - Metallica

    III - Sebadoh

    Ten - Pearl Jam

Just for a day - Slowdive

    Screamadelica - Primal Scream

    Trompe le monde- The Pixies

    Badmotorfinger - Soundgarden

Blood sugar sex magik - Red hot chilli peppers

    Raise - Swervedriver

    Weld - Neil Young

No pocky for kitty - Superchunk

    Loveless - My Bloody Valentine

Into the great wide open - tom petty

That’s a ridiculous amount of brilliant albums in the year or 1991. There’s a lot more I haven’t listed, demos, live bootlegs, other official releases. But there was so much good music at that time it was hard to keep up....

I know every generation says the music they grew up with was better than “the sh&t the kids listen to nowadays,” but I’m about your age (I was 11 in ‘91), and for our generation it’s absolutely true!

When I downloaded the CD leaks I felt like I found my Xmas presents before I opened them... Like spoiling a surprise.  Last year's leaks felt like debt collection.

I don't post very much, but I had to quote this comment.  So funny and so true.  I consider myself a hardcore GNR fan and they've managed to beat the excitement out of me.  Maybe if i had an extra $10k to drop on a pinball machine, I'd be excited right now, but being a hardcore fan of this band isn't fun for me anymore.  It's just not.
