Yes, the picture is 100% legit

That's wild. I'm supposed to be working so I can't dig through the posts very well. I just started a new job 6 months ago so my boss is seeing how I am during moments like this for the first time.

  2. The fact that I now wish it didn't happen.

I'm 32. I didn't get a chance to see them in their day. I didn't think I'd ever get to see Slash and Axl on the same stage. I did. It was great.

But then nothing happened. The band is just going through the motions. There's nothing to be excited about. There's all these teases. Slash citing new music. Shows being recorded. None of that matters when none of it sees the light of day. In retrospect I wish instead Axl kept NuGNR and did the next album that was supposedly in the cannon in 2015. I hate that were probably waiting for Axl's passing to probably hear all these songs we've only heard about for 20 years.

    Not heard that in ages.

Just recall the chorus with the line "Lives in a box down by the ocean" with that D-C-G progression like you say.

    *EDIT*

Song possibly also known simply as "Box".
I see it's still on a well known video hosting service but I'll refrain from linking as I know that can sometimes cause issues here.

Clarify? I'm confused. I see the Izzy song Box on YouTube. What else was rumoured around down by the ocean? I remember hearing about it ages ago but that's about it.

    This show :headbang::axl92::awesomeface:

    On this day:

December 19, 2009 - Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan

Notes: This was GN'R's longest show ever until The Forum 2017 show, clocking in at 3 hrs 37 mins!

The band jams a bit on the Diana Ross' "Love Hangover" and Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" before If The World

"Ever feel like you're in a, perpetually in a bad episode of The Simpsons? [Bumblefoot plays the Simpsons theme song] No see, he had another cartoon, and I was actually in that one. Used to be in the L.A. Weekly. The angriest dog in the world. He was just paralyzed at the end of his chain. That's all the cartoon was!"

After the song, Axl tells the crowd a story about This I Love: "When we were putting that song together, we had all this other stuff done, before that little wind part. And the wind part was our little joke. So like, we're listening to like "OK is the timing right? Is the modulation on the piano right? There's that stupid wind part!" It was really fun. And after that, I call the next section with the horns… I don't know why, but that's my Deer Hunter section. Mr Pitman, the disco destroyer… Mr Chris Pitman he wrote the Deer Hunter section."

Before Patience, Axl sings Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy.

Setlist: Chinese Democracy, Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Catcher In The Rye, Sorry, Jam (I Want You Back), If The World, Guitar Solo (James Bond Theme) [Richard Fortus], Live And Let Die, Piano Solo (Ziggy Stardust) [Dizzy], Street Of Dreams, Jam, You Could Be Mine, Rocket Queen, My Michelle, Guitar Solo [DJ Ashba], Sweet Child O' Mine, Shackler's Revenge, I.R.S., Jam, Piano Solo [Axl], November Rain, Jam, Whole Lotta Rosie, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Scraped, Prostitute, Jam, This I Love, Drum Solo (We Will Rock You), Out Ta Get Me, Guitar Solo (Pink Panther/Don't Cry) [Bumblefoot], Don't Cry (Axl, Ron & DJ), Nightrain
Encore: Madagascar, There Was A Time, My Generation, Better, Patience, Nice Boys, Paradise City

    131463812-429950055055418-23312217925663

That was the show I listened to the most. We all had the in ear monitor mix. Axl before the encore, "Maddy. Into TWAT, into better, and then finish with ATM City." Tommy laughs, "hahaha that sounds like a book"

A lot of the banter from that show still lives rent free in my head all these years later.

I probably get flamed for this but...I always felt like all those jams and extended solos were out of place for a band like GnR. I mean, I love Slash but he's not the kind of player I wanna hear do multiple super extended solos all the time. The blues jams etc., it's just not that interesting, imo.

I'm with you on that. Saw Slash with Myles in 2019. I love that band. But Slash did way too many extended solos. I'm a guitar player myself but it was just hard to get into a song that's being dragged for upwards of 15 minutes.

That's what I thought, there's a myth that Robin re-recorded the solo on Rocket Queen, from that same concert, and vocals on Live Era are re-recorded on tha particular song.

I totally didn't think of this. I'm one of the believers in that theory. I'm insanely curious to compare that track from the Live Era release to the upcoming release.

I was going to say the same thing.  That is how you do it.  They essentially recorded an entire album in secret and plan a world tour, then BOOM - they announce the reunion + tour with tickets going on sale 3 days later, the same day the new single drops.  If GN’R did this, my head would explode.

I'm stoked. I love Tom. He's a whack job for sure but I love him for it. His passion for his projects is definitely admirable.

Hell, Axl probably wouldn't wanna steal any thunder or media attention from the Blink camp. He should probably hold off on any imminent releases out of respect. ( /s)

By that reasoning you could search "The hardest part this troubled heart" and it would show GN'R .

Searching "broken glass and cigarettes" pulled up TWAT under the songs tab. That line from Better did nothing for me. Foo Fighters Everlong was just a random one that came to mind to try and yeah, Every long immediately came up.
