The Bumble/Ashba GNR was the worst lineup. They were a really good live act, but goddamn it’s hard to get into a band when you dislike BOTH lead guitarists. I’ve also never cared for anything I’ve heard from either of them in their other projects.

On the other hand, Robin Finck is awesome. I just saw him last Sunday. First time. Dude was dope. Glad I got to see one of the architects of Chinese Democracy

Agreed. It's weird because I love Ron as a person, but his contributions to what ended up on the album were my least favourite. The demos from just before he joined were great and I don't find myself listening to the versions with him very often. Phenomenal player, no doubt. But the fretless just isn't for me.

Ashba? Eh, there was a time when I loved him and every project he was involved in. But I guess I'm not 17 anymore haha. I still enjoy that first Beautiful Creatures album from time to time. But Sixx AM is just awful and hasn't aged well to me aside from at most half a dozen songs from the first album.

Robin was great. I have nothing negative to say about what he brought to the band. I'd kill to hear some of his other work that didn't make CD.

My source confirmed that the double-EP (CD leftovers and cover songs from 2016-present) isn't a part of UYI release but will be announced around the same time. Axl pushed for it and it was a concession the lable had to make in order to cash in on the past.

Edit: but this is gnr, so who the hell knows....

Announced around the same time as the box set or announced around the release date of the box set? Did your source happen to clarify that?

I'm just greedy I want it now lol

New Queen song that has yet to be released is prompting with the correct results

I'm a Nickelback fan. Their new album drops November 18th. Entire track listing was posted by band. I tried a couple and didn't get Nickelback pop up. Leads me to believe that if these GNR songs are really in the Spotify database, they must be prepping for a launch at least before November 18th.

  4. I'm majorly grasping at straws here, but hey maybe it's something.

Wife listens to some guy named Sam Smith. Some song he released a snippet of on tiktok, it's blown up and went viral, was supposed to be released in full today. It didn't release. She showed me on his tiktok, he commented saying the release of the song was delayed until the 22nd as no new music in the UK will be released/played on radio until after the Queen's funeral.

Normally I'd shrug that off, but we're seeing these new GNR songs kinda popping up on Spotify in the...UK. I'm nothing more than assuming one way or another, but if that's true maybe that could be some indication of when we could hear something? Or the fact that UK has popped up twice like that is just one giant coincidence.

FWIW I googled to find any real concrete evidence of such an edict and couldn't find anything.

Yeah I got it backwards, if a song is already in Shazam but not released yet then the “not found” would show up right away. The fact that it didn’t for atlas or sog means they’re not in Shazam yet. Sorry.

How does shazam work with demos though? Genuine question. If musically it's redone would that do anything to warrant such a delay before the not found prompt?

They should release all the best raw recordings of UYI into a single album re-release. I’d kill to hear some of those mixes of prime GNR

I'm in the process of slowly re-reading Slash's book, and while I haven't gotten to the point yet I seem to recall a moment of it where he touched on Illusions demos. And if I recall correctly he said those demos initially sounded phenomenal but then got carried away with keys and all that jazz. To try and imagine, pre-reunion when slash was doing Civil War, that outro of his without a keyboard is what I imagined it would sound like. And I have to agree with him, something like that would have sounded great. I'd love to hear something like Pretty Tied Up for example as an early demo.

Every time i hear the General instrumental i cry a little inside.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, assuming you're talking about the clip they used as the intro in 2006,but I get almost chills whenever I hear it. 2006 was my intro to GNR. I still thought that intro was their best I'd ever experienced live. That intro, Robin Jungle intro in darkness with some blue lights. All of a sudden Axl screams, spotlight turns on and he's already front and centre stage.

WFT Slash?!?!? The one song with the most slashesque solo abslutely destroyed by Slash himself.

Its like he isnt even trying,no Melisa, no nothing

Exactly my thought. Fortus came in clutch though for the second part. Slash's take on Chinese material hasn't been my favourite personally.
