I wasn't a fan, but I liked the movie with David Bowie. That had some cool characters.

Interesting, you didn't like The Dark Crystal. Both movies were made by Jim Henson, based on conceptual designs of Brian Froud, and utilized many of the same puppeteers. I must say I had a little crush on Jennifer Connelly back then too. ;)

Yes, George C. Scott is his usual great self in it.  It's an underrated and largely forgotten little gem.  Another movie came out around the same time that was good called Ghost Story but I don't think it would be categorized as a haunted house movie.  I know some people would say The Shining is the scariest haunted house movie.

Yes, all great movies. Anyone remember Salem's Lot? Could be considered a vampire movie, but still good! Also, a movie called The Entity starring Barbara Hershey is an extremely frightening haunted house movie. All of these movies I watch on TV as I was still just a kid back then.

  3. I'm so excited this is happening! Waited 35 years for this. The original movie was the first DVD I ever bought back in 2000. This is a 10 episode series on Netflix and a prequel to the original movie. Using real puppetry and only some CGI . It looks Amazing! Mark Hamill, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg provide some recurring voices. Several of the original characters have returned also.

Billy Joel said in 1989 that he had discussed OIAM with Axl and Axl had told him more or less that it was from a third party perspective and it wasn't necessarily him who "spoke" in the song. And in one of the interviews Axl said that it was based on him and things he saw, but it was also generalised as the point of view of someone with his background and experiences.

Regardless of this song and what Axl meant, it's possible to write something about oneself as a character, i.e. that is autobiographical and from a third party perspective at the same time.

If anyone thinks Axl wrote OIAM as a third person, they clearly don't know GN'R. Here's a link and a Quote from Axl himself.

Does it bother you that so many people think you’re misogynous, homophobic and racist?
It can bother me. But the racist thing is just bullshit. I used a word that was taboo. And I used that word because it was taboo. I was pissed off about some black people that were trying to rob me. I wanted to insult those particular black people. I didn’t want to support racism. When I used the word f@gg0t's, I wasn’t coming down on gays. I was coming down on an element of gays. I had just heard a story about a man who was released out of the L.A. county jail with AIDS and he was hooking. I’ve had my share of dealings with aggressive gays, and I was bothered by it. The. Bible says, “Thou shalt not judge,” and I guess I made a judgment call, and it was an insult. The racist thing, that’s just stupid. I can understand how people would think that, but that’s not how I meant it. I believe that there’s always gonna be some form of racism –– as much as we’d like there to be peace –– because people are different. Black culture is different. I work with a black man every day [Earl Gabbidon, Rose’s bodyguard], and he’s one of my best friends. There are things he’s into that are definitely a “black thing.” But I can like them. There are things that are that way. I think there always will be.

Maybe that hit Axl between the legs with the ball was just a fantasy.  Was probably pretty frustrated with him at that point.

There is a shot here between Axl's legs. The ball drops down, then shoot back up real fast. That might be it.

That's not the one I played.  It looks newer.  Did they have two versions?

The one I was on had Axl standing with his legs apart and a hole for the ball to land in, if you know what I'm saying.  Might have been why they redid it.

No just this one. Never heard of a different one though. I'd like to see it!

  7. Finally got a chance to play this Pinball machine. 25 years after it's release. Found one and 40 other pinballs at an arcade an hour and a half away from me. Was pretty great! All the machines were in pristine condition. 1 play for 75¢. Must have spent 25 bucks there playing it and others. Got multiball going, but was unable to get "Ain't Going Down" to come up, not that I knew how. Game play was smooth, enjoyed hearing the songs and trying to get all 5 band members on stage for the multiball was fun. I will go back soon. It was pretty sweet seeing rows and rows of pinball machines. Even got some pics.

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing an episode where he goes home to France(?) and iirc it was all a hallucination/dream/projection. It was very pastoral like this trailer. I guess Voyage Home also gives precedence to the real world landscape in Trek.

I just need to hear one "Beverley" and I'll be satisfied.

Actually It was an episode titled "Family" where Picard goes to France just after his assimilation with the Borg. He visits his brother, who runs the family vineyard. There's also a future scene of Picard tending the vineyard in the last episode of TNG.

Or as others have suggested; he’s just overdubbing NITL recordings for a live album, to make them sound neater, like they did back in the day for Live Era.

Hmm. Wasn't it Axl or Dizzy that said people don't buy CD's anymore. I am doubtful they would do a live album that quite frankly wouldn't make much money, but an album with original material would. A new single with hype of a brand new CD with Slash on it. That's what people want.

Please spread atheist fanatism in other topic ...

Seems you are kind of delusional my friend.

No kill has anything with religion... this attack, 9/11 and most attacks in the middle east world are 100% religious in nature

No religion spreads violence... evidently you've never read the Quran or the Bible where God says there is a time to kill.

People use religion as mask for their goals... I doubt they hide there deeds when suicide bombings are a typical Jihadist MO

As I see it, the biggest detriment Disney had in crafting this new trilogy was their reluctance to effectively use the original characters.

They were so afraid that by keeping Han alive,

That said, it's shame they killed Han.

Harrison Ford wanted Han killed off during the original trilogy. So it's most likely he would only do the movie if his character died.
