  1. It was mentioned around the time of the reunion that Axl had a lot of material, and he wanted to get it out there before they write actual new material. This makes sense too, as so far it is what we have gotten from the NITL lineup.

I wish they had released CD2 right before the reunion and toured it but it didn't work out, and they had plenty of opportunity to between 2010-2014 (or whatever). So that's on them, or someone. Hard to say who. Even things Axl says doesn't always come to fruition, which may or may not be his fault, in part or whole.

What songs do we think has vocals? Do you still have that CD2 list from the former wrestler dude? Oklahoma is easily my favorite of the Village instrumentals.

Who doesn't have that list at this point? :) Interestingly enough, Berlin or Oklahoma is not on that list, at least under that name. But I believe at that time, a "third album" was planned, and songs bounced between the first three albums.

    Fair...

But I do think there's a decent chance that Atlas in final form, as in, the one that almost made Chinese would/will sound quite a bit different to 2000 version we've heard!

Well, I do believe CD2 was in "final form" as in ready to be released around the time the 2008 album was. It's more of a matter of did NITL touch it or not? I don't think they worked on Hard Skool, Absurd, Perhaps, The General, and Monsters because they needed to be finished, rather, they just wanted their playing on it since they are currently in the band.

  4. Curious, would a band like Guns have archival or older reference mixes retained of songs they change over the years? For example, if they wanted to compare NITL Monsters to 2010 Soul Monster, is that easily done? Not sure what is the industry standard in whatever software they use for mixing. But I’m sure it would be advantageous to have multiple mixes to compare to and hold for potential future special releases.

  5. Not bad for a Monday! Do you know what would make it better? I do.

How about CD2, pre Bumblefoot? :D Maybe some day! I'd be cool with a Bumblefoot CD2 as well, as Bucket would still be on a majority of it, much like the 2008 album. :)

I imagine it's super similar to The Blues vs Street of Dreams. No orchestra, more drums, less double tracked vocals maybe?

I don't know what about the final couple years of Chinese Democracy's production led them to cut out so many drum parts, even though a lot were retained for live shows.

Probably. Yes, some of the life of the songs was sucked away from the 2000-2003 (or whatever) demos to the 2008 final mixes.

Now, it's even worse with the CD2 stuff, as a lot of it is from the same period as the 2008 album, and on top of already being bloated and overproduced by 2008, the NITL re-working and shit production adds an even more fucked element to them.

Yep, rape is one of the worst crimes to happen to people. 😱😳🤬😡 What's even worse is when rape results in pregnancy! 😱😳

No doubt! I've heard pregnancy from rape is rare, but not sure on the stats. I happen to know a woman who was the result of a rape. I went to school with her. Her father was the rapist. I don't know of her father's relationship to her mother (the victim) then, could have been random. I can't imagine how difficult that was. My understanding is my friend had some struggles growing up, but is doing well and I believe she has a family now.

I’m not the reason women don’t go report. I’ve been raped. I was brutally raped from 930 pm to 6 am in front of my 3 year old son. I fought for my life and went and reported immediately and while I was at the hospital getting examined and questioned  I was being treated as if I was lying. It’s women lying about being raped that causes other women not to report.  As if it wasn’t obvious that I was raped they sent every hospital staff member there was to question me. Luckily they caught him on his way back with a gun to kill me. So I know what it’s like to be raped and I know that when you are raped there isn’t anything enjoyable about it and you don’t wait all those years.  She is after  money and that’s my opinion and I’m still sticking by Axl    I believe him

Now take That One To Heart !

I'm really sorry that happened to you. and your child. I hope the assailant was brought to justice. (He deserves far worse, of course)

I'm friends with a woman who was attacked by a man who attempted to rape her. She was able to fight him off, but he got away and raped other women before he was ultimately caught. Fucking savages need to be put down like rabid animals.

I don't really care at all for TIL besides the solo. Robin elevated it from mediocre to excellent.

It's a shame that he often doesn't get the recognition for his work on CD.

I couldn't agree more! It is further saddening that his work on the follow-up album has not been realized officially, save for a few seconds in Perhaps, but that's a different story.

I'm still holding out hope we get to hear the older mixes of "newer" songs with Robin and Buckethead on them, whether by leaks or ideally, in some official box set as bonus content.

I miss the drum track from the leak. Slash's second solo with the slide is really nice. liked the bridge on the leak as well though. the chord progression was different and I liked how the 2 lead lines met at the most melodic part on the leak.

having more than one version of a song I like from Gn'R is both cool and annoying. I often find myself missing a cool part from some other version of a Chinese tune.

I know the feeling! Josh's drums on the Hardschool demo were incredible. I imagined there were mixes with Brain on drums that sounded nice too. The production really killed the drums. Sounds almost like a drum machine. Even Frank's playing is better, so I think they really processed Brain and/or Frank's drums on the official version. Axl's vocals also seemed off on the final version.

Every single song he worked on sounds more like classic Guns now than before. That’s a fact. Whether you prefer one style over the other is another question. For me, as someone who prefers the classic era over the CD era, it’s an easy choice. I think Slash improved every single song with his playing.

Slash's Perhaps solo, except for the end, seemed to be in the wrong tone for the song. Maybe it just sounds that way because I'm used to Robin's solo, at least they kept two seconds of it. :P
