  1. I was thinkin today, Seb Bach has been a big fuckin part of this tour so far. IMHO, his duet with Axl on My Michelle has been one of the musical highpoints of the shows. Also, it's clear that Seb has been a very important behind the scenes type dude in keepin shit organised- maybe even coordinating the secret production of CD if some of the sources on here are true. Now I got my thinkin cap on and I'm pretty sure you guys will agree this is a fuckin cool idea!!! It's obvious really but why the fuck doesn't Axl ask Seb to join Gnr permanently!!!!!???? Think of all the cool shit that would happen and the reasons why it could happen:

    1) Seb has done a great fuckin job singing My Michelle. No doubt about that whatsoever.

    2) Some of you may have heard this but when Gnr played at the new Wembley Stadium in London earlier in the year (one of the first bands to play there!!!!!!!!), Axl's voice went horse or some shit like that and Seb stepped in and sang a load of GnR songs. This shows he can sing this stuff really good.

    3) No more solo spots!!! I no a lot of u cats have been complaining about too many solo spots. Check this: Axl can only sing so much every night. Think about it- where there was a solo spot, Axl goes off for a few minutes and Seb sings, say, Back Of Bitch, Bad Obssession, whatever!!!! More GnR for our bucks!!

    4) More possibility for cool duets! Say, Paradise City: Seb sings one verse, Axl sings the next one. Cool shit like that.

    5) More NEW Gnr material!!! Seb has a proven track record for writing great songs with Skidrow. His talents can only help take some of the weight off Axl's shoulders. Result: more new gnr material. Maybe I'm jumping the gun abit but let's think post CD. Maybe they could do a double set like UYI. One disc with Axl's shit and one with Seb's!

There's loads more reasons why this is FUCKIN great idea. List any you can think of. I hope management reads this page and gets Axl to suggest it. This could make GnR TWICE as good- dual lead singers! A first in the history of rock!

No Sebastian Bach, you cannot join Guns N' Roses.

  2. With so little promotion, and no CD release date, or public hype, GNR is going to have to start from the bottom up, just like in the early days.
Someone called 'RR Mafia' (from another site) wrote:

I think what Guns n Roses are trying to do is let things happen organically. They seem to be acting like they are an underground band and when they drop their album they want the people to come to them, instead of trying to shove it down the publics throats. I think that is very commendible considering how big the Guns n Rose name once was.

You wrote "from the bottom up", RR Mafia wrote "acting like an undergroundband". At the end of the day, if that's the new approch, then Axl should have used a new band name and reverted back to his real name William.

The way i see it, Axl has kept the name Guns N'Roses to help the new band gain as much free press as possible. This has acted like a double edged sword. Sure the band has got their free publicity, and sure many have moaned that this is not Guns N'Roses. On the up side, for all the doubters, there's many who like the new band.

I know the guy. I think this *could* work and be very interesting - relaunch the band Appetite-style. But again there will be trouble even coming close to the original days of GN'R. The fact that this tedious version of the band is "the back-up plan" only makes matters worse, and if the tour is pulled, what will V3 of the band be like? Brain and Bucket gone; a bored band playing dated 1980s songs? (*Rumblings* have it that Stinson and Fortus would rather move on to the CD material: and probably others like Mr. Finck do too.) CD is the only thing that matters now.

No, that isn't what they're doing - either they are fucking idiots who have no idea what they're doing, or there really is no album to promote and Axl's just doing another nostalgia tour for money (the most likely scenario, IMO).

If they were going for the underdog, underground thing again, why are they playing all Appetite songs instead of the new material?

  3. LOL, Baz is so awesome!! Thanks for the article; it was a fun read.

"These days," says Bach with a laugh, "I say, Velvet who?' "

If Sebastian Bach was fronting VR, the rest of america would be the ones saying "Velvet who?"

  4. LOL..Convenient how you ignore everything else in the post and then post some lame reply to the last thing.

Yeah, I saw them, so what? Am I supposed to be thrilled beyond belief that I saw them? I saw them in 1989 and in 1992 and in 2002, what's the big deal? It was a nice show, but there is nothing about seeing this band play songs that we've all heard thousands of times that thrills me. Unless he puts a new album out, tons and tons of other people feel the exact same way.

  5. Have you ever listened to the lyrics of B.Y.O.B??

Yes, have you? That song is critical of George Bush and his regime, it is absolutely not anti-american in any way (unless you think anyone who criticizes Bush is anti-american, in which case you're a dumbass)

And the fact that you percieve System as one of the greatest bands says a lot about the current status of music in the World. You mean they are better than Fall out Boy ans Chemical Romance, WOW!

It's quite sad that you live in such a small, sheltered world made up of Axl Rose posters that you don't know of any other rock bands except the ones that get played on the MTV. There are plenty of incredible rock bands out there if you open up your mind and turn off the radio and TV.

This is just a guess, but I am thinking you are not a member of a SOAD forum,

    Wrong.

I agree with the original post, I am just glad they are touring. I saw then on 9/20 and am just glad to get another look at a legend. You probobly have just been watching youtube and have no appreciation. Hope he makes it to Oak where I have tickets two sections from the front. You keep bitching and go see Blink 182 or whatever the hell else is out there.

I saw them at Inland Invasion. Wrong again.

  6. 1.) System of a Down is one of the best rock bands out right now.

    2.) They are not anti-american.

3.) Axl can do whatever he wants, but he's not doing whatever he wants. Everything he does is based off how he believes the public will perceive it.

4.) My ass isn't waiting on Axl's every move. I'll be there if/when CD comes out, but I'm not going to lose sleep over the fact that it probably isn't.

  7. RE:

So basically, we've got everything we had in 2002? (website, U.S. tour, euro tour, new guitar player).

It's really sad that the current state of this band is such that people are celebrating over the fact that they have a tour and a website, something that any band with a fuckin pulse has right now. BIG DEAL. Get an album out or it means nothing.

    Dude:

You are leaving one thing out. All the bands with a pulse did not put out AFD and UYI 1 + 2 . GNR can do whatever they want, they have already been the greatest. Cal Ripken Jr. doesnt have to come back and extend his streak, he already did it. Axl is already a legend, so whatever he does now is extra. You really need to stop comparing GNR to other bands, they are not like other bands( cept maybe Stones, Beatles, Zepplin etc.) . Really stupid to compare Axl to others. Avenged Sevenfold. System of a Down etc NEED to carve their piece of history, Axl + GNR have already done it. He is in a class by himself. There is no formula to what he is doing. Jesus, he is not tryting to break inot the music scene. He is just doing what he wants. Follow him or not, he doesnt care.

Yeah, you're right! What was I thinking! Axl can do whatever he wants - so I guess he's happy to be playing to half full areans every night.

That would never happen to the Stones, BTW. That doesn't even happen to System of a Down now.

Axl is trying to break back into the music scene, whether you want to admit it or not.

  8. Hey folks, people of the forum. Over the past week or so there has been a lot of complaints about the current situation with Guns N Roses. Is brain in or out? Why is there no Album announcement? Guns Being late for performances etc. Yes, i agree with lots of people that this is frustrating and if this was an Ideal Rock band then things like this wouldn't be happening.

However I think that one or two people need to see just how good this situation is compared to what it was before. Last year, when i joined this board, the news front was in Dire straits. You'd come on the forum and there'd be months of "Axl Rose in lawsuit" heading the newswire. It was just months of speculation over who was in the band, what axl was doing, what he looked like as well as complaints about the failures of the 2002 era. You had threads such as "Will Guns N Roses play live again?"

This year we have an official website (It's okay goddamit!... i agree it's not perfect but it could be a lot worse!) We have had a successful tour in Europe which has gone off without a hitch, we have an american tour going on just now. Two successfully pro shot webcast concerts. Four brandf new songs, we have Axl in the spotlight again, an excellent new guitar player. And a promise of the album this year from the man himself. You don't know what you've got until you've lost it all and compared to what we had we have a hell of a lot, i think more people should be thankful for this. Hope you guys feel the same.

  9. What do you think?

I would say NO ! VR were stupid not to have Josh Todd as lead singer ! Buckcherry is better sounding than VR. Although, I do like VR's stuff I think Josh Todd would have been better.

    Rainman rock3

Hell no..............Buckcherry is corny and outdated.

Velvet Revolver would of been forced to do corny videos like THIS.

Scott Weiland is a better singer, writer, and performer than Todd anyday.

    Dude's a tool.

Scott Weiland may be a former druggie, but at least he's a normal looking guy.

Josh Todd looks like the kind of the guy that'd suck your dick for crack in a back alley somewhere.

  10. Yeah, I know...we heard them before. But these 4 songs are brand spanking new to 99 percent of the people at the shows. I would think (may be wrong) that the songs that were leaked are Axls favorites from CD. Wouldnt it make sence that he would play his best new songs first? We will be part of the very few that know these songs at the concert. Watch the remainder of the crowd die down and look confused when something new is played (I was there last night). They are not into it....yet.

Maybe we got spoilied with all of the leaks and are expecting to hear every song before the album comes out. Weve already heard 8 potential songs. It would be great to have a few suprises on CD when we buy it. We can complain, but he did play new shit from Chinese Democracy. More will come.

First of all, if "Better" and "I.R.S" are the best new songs, then Chinese Democracy is fucked.

Second, if you think it was new to 99% of the people there, then you are kidding yourself. Considering the embarassingly bad lack of promotion for this tour, how would most non internet using folks know about the shows? I'd say a good majority of the fans there visit GNR websites and have heard the leaks, whether through a friend or just by downloading it themselves.

  11. LOL @ the setlist.. what a shocker.

Cant wait to hear the excuses from the Axlites tomorrow.

This Axlite is already telling you they have an understudy drummer who probably only knows certain songs-

Oh and guess what else? That has nothing to do with Axl, he sings, he can't play the drums as well. :fuckyou: <---No Offense of course!

Ah, and right on cue, here come the excuses.

No band goes on tour without a backup at guitars, drums, etc. incase someone falls ill - and those people practice all the songs that band could possibly play on the tour.

  12. GnR fans are fuckin stupid. Why would you purposely send a radio station an unfinished demo to play live on the air for thousands of people? So the listeners can be tricked into thinking a low quality song is actually the real single?

The same thing happened out here in L.A. with IRS, everyone hated it because the quality was shit.

Not saying this Better demo is crappy quality, but its not the studio version.

    Makes no sense.

  13. Better won't even make a dent on the charts. This is a horrible first single, there's nothing catchy or memorable about it - young people who are used to hearing WTTJ and SCOM are going to hear "YOU KNOW I KNOW YOU KNOW BETTER.. NOW WE ALL KNOW BETTER!!" <weird computer effects> and be like "What the fuck" and turn off their radio.

Can't blame them - of all my friends I've had listen to Better, the reaction is either that or, "Eh, it's decent, I want to hear what else is on the album though"
