  1. how can anyone say BBF isn't the best?
    :rofl-lol:

And people call Buckethead a freak? The crowd was completely and utterly bored during that bullshit. They were laughing at him. He's an embarrassment to the name of Guns N' Roses.

The fact that they took three minutes out of a show for that garbage is a disgrace.

  2. "It's so easy" to be social

"It's so easy" to be cool

Yeah it's easy to be hungry

When you ain't got shit to lose

And I wish that I could help you

With what you hope to find

But I'm still out here waiting

    Watching reruns of my life

When you reach the point of breaking

Know it's gonna take some time

    To heal the broken memories

    That another man would need

    Just to survive

  3. Trent Reznor? LOL. Are you serious? That's about the LAST GUY I'd expect to write that letter.

Look, the letter is bullshit. It's in the reply section of the RS site on the story about the Axl-Merck letters - it's just some dumbass with too much time on his hands.

It reads of the writing of many of the Axllites who post on this board who I'd imagine spend many of their lonely days sitting in their room alone drooling over Axl posters. "OMG THIS WILL BE THE GREATEST CD EVER. BETTER BLOWS AWAY ANYTHING ON APPETITE. TWAT DESTOYS NOVEMBER RAIN. CATCHER IN THE RYE IS A MASTERPIECE NOT ONLY OF MUSIC BUT OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT. ALL OTHER GNR RECORDS SHOULD BE BURNED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT COMPARE TO THIS MASTERPIECE. AXL HAS FOUND THE CURE FOR AIDS!"

The only way this is a real "famous lead singer" is either if it's A.) The dude from Avenged Sevenfold who has his head so far up Axl's ass he can tell you what he had for lunch yesterday or B.) Sebastian Bach.

  4. GUNZEN is doing the updates? Great. I can't wait for the "I can somewhat see the outline of Axl's penis when I look closely enough at his crotch, it's hard to see from here though, I'm going to attempt to push my way closer to the stage...oh uh, I mean, they're playing Its So Easy."

  5. Are you retarded? You really can't figure out why it makes people mad?

What Merck did would be akin to Slash coming out and saying, "I'm so glad that Velvet Revolver was able to get Scott Weiland (who by the way, kicks the shit out of my old lead singer!)"

You can compliment the new band without trashing the old one. It's those type of comments that make people hate Axl, whether he said it or not.

  6. Funny how it's OK for the Slasholes to continually rip and say negative things about Axl . . . but when somebody makes a bad comment about Slash/Duff, then you people come out and rip that person for being a jerk! Apparently in your minds, freedom of speech only means if they agree with you.

Merk sayin that the new band kicks the shit out of the old band is HIS OPINION. It doesn't make him a saint or a cunt. It's just his opinion.

I take my hat off to him for not being "politically correct" and worrying about offending anybody.

Good job for having the balls to state your opinion.

Personally, I don't know yet. I'll have to hear a final product before I can start judging which band is better. The old band seemed to have more grit and emotion live than the new band. But the new band seems a little more professional (throw in your buckethead jokes here) and on top of things live. I know, the "old band" people will throw a fit at that comment - but face it sirs, your not seeing Fortis and Brain playing concerts high on heroin, like you would have seen Izzy and Adler and Slash back in the day.

At 17 years old, it seems cool when your favorite band has a reputation for being party animals. But at 35 years old, I wanna hear a tight show and not one where half the band is high.

And you people forget what position Merk is in. He knows inside scoop stuff about the new band and the old band, that fans like us have NO IDEA about.

I respect the man for voicing his opinion.

It has nothing to do with voicing his opinion. he's just kissing up to Axl like he did throughout the whole letter.

The only people who find comments like that "cool" are the die-hard Axlites, who are few and far between these days. To the rest of the general music buying public all it does is make them hate Axl even more than they do now.

  7. First of all it's got to be someone with a good reputation in the music industry, something Merck didn't have. Someone with a history of success.

Most importantly, if the album is really coming out in March, it's got to be someone who knows how to promote and knows how to do some serious damage control. The public perception of Axl coming into all this was in the shitter already, and by being the tool that he is, all Merck did was make that ten times worse.

If the album is coming out, then these next few months will be the most important months maybe in Axl's career. I hope he doesn't rush into the selection of the manager, because it could really make or break what could be a historic year for him.

  8. Guys, I've got it. It was all so clear.

    Here's what's going to happen:

    1. The tour ends. Nothing is mentioned about CD.

    2. Axl disappears again. Fans gets upset and cry because they realize they were betrayed.

    3. AXL DIES.

now here's where we get interesting. If Axl is truly ROCK N' ROLL and "do it his own way" like I think he is, then he's going to FAKE HIS OWN DEATH after this tour. It will either be a suicide a la Kurt Cobain, or a drug overdose a la Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin.

If he's really thinking outside the box, he may fake hang himself while masturbating, just so he can do the whole Michael Hutchence thing. But I don't really think that's his style.

    4. After the funeral, Axl's estate FINDS the finished CD record.

    5. It is released.

    6. As A Nation Mourns, their hearts are lifted to the joyous sounds of "Better", "Rhiad", "There Was a Time", and the previously unmentioned track, "The Really Shouldn'tve Hung Myself While Jerkin It Blues".

    7. Axl is proclaimed a genius.

    8. Axl lives in isolation in some tropical locale, getting all the botox surgery and dreadlocks he wants so he'll never be recognized.

I mean, CLEARLY this is what he was planning early on around 2000 when he started looking all fucking wierd. But for some reason, he decided to delay his plan.

Man, the more I think about it, Axl is a TOTAL FUCKING GENIUS for thinking of this awesome plan! I can't wait until he dies and I get to hear his awesome record!

Then Axl, Tupac, Elvis and Kurt Cobain all return on a "We Are The World" remix.

  9. The fans have no effect? Hey dipshit, do you realize without boards like this and HTGTH this tour wouldn't even be HAPPENING? Nobody would give a shit. Seriously, we are the only reason Axl is touring right now.

And if everyone on this board and HTGTH said "fuck it" and decided to stop coming here and stop going to the shows, this tour would crash and burn worse than 2002.

BTW - everyone always whines about fans being bitter, but from reading her posts on HTGTH, Beta sure does sound like one bitter cunt. All she does is complain.

  10. I believe Chinese Democracy will be far superior to anything VR can put out

We have already heard at least half of the new album in the songs they have played live. Unless the other half we haven't heard are the far superior to what we have heard, Axl has wasted the past 10 years. People can have their opinions on how strong they feel the new material is vs. the VR stuff, but it is pretty safe to say that it is not 10 years better if what we have heard of the new GNR is their best stuff. Some (not all) of the new GNR stuff is really strong, but hardly going to set off a rock n' roll revolution. We had just better hope there are some serious gems in the vault if we ever actually hear another Axl album, otherwise he has done alot of damage to his legacy for really no reason.

    Dude, Rolling Stone said that the demos were BETTER than anything that VR put out - and they are just demos.;

So either way, it's win win.

So you let Rolling Stone form your opinions on music?

They gave Contraband 4.5/5 stars when they reviewed it in 2004.

It was hyperbole. None of the leaks are clearly better than anything on Contraband except The Blues and CITR.

  11. Oh, he is pissing off potential buyers.

Something I saw at Inland Invasion really soured me a lot on GnR and pretty much epitomized to me why this tour has been another failure.

In front of me were these two teenage girls with the parents of one of the girls. The girls were only there to see 30 Seconds to Mars while the parents both had on GnR shirts. I got to talking to the dad while some of the shittier bands were playing and he was saying he and his wife were huge GnR fans and they brought his daughter and her friend here to show them a "real band". They've listened to his GnR albums but he thought that if they saw Axl live on stage that it would totally rock their world.

The girls seemed pretty psyched for GnR but then of course.. they're late. A half hour delay turns into an hour, which turns into an hour and a half and by that time a near riot has started with people throwing bottles of piss back and forth from the lawn and orchestra. The family decides they had enough and heads to the parking lot looking dejected. The parents were obvious huge GnR fans, who knew Axl blew a chance to gain two new fans, and probably a lot more judging by the droves of people who left Inland Invasion before Axl ever got to the stage.

The last thing people who had been burning under the hot California desert sun all day wanted was a middle aged guy dicking around backstage for an hour and a half longer than he should because he wants to uphold this "dangerous" reputation that nobody gives a shit about anymore.

Axl lost a surefire chance to gain two new fans that night, and a lot more I'm sure, and that pretty much summed up the failure of this "comeback" to me.

GUNS N' ROSES Manager: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Could Not Handle Audience Response - Dec. 1, 2006

GUNS N' ROSES' manager Merck Mercuriadis has responded to the claims by the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL leader Jesse "The Devil" Hughes that GN'R bassist Tommy Stinson threw down his bass in disgust after Axl Rose went off on the EAGLES after Hughes and Co. opened for GN'R at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena Friday night (Nov. 24). EAGLES OF DEATH METAL took the stage in Cleveland to open the first of what was supposed to be 15 North American dates on the GUNS N' ROSES tour, but exited the trek after just that one performance following an onstage rant by Rose, during which he nicknamed the band "The Pigeons of Shit Metal" before informing his audience that the gig would be the EAGLES' last on the tour.

"When [Rose] called us the 'Pigeons of Shit Metal', Tommy Stinson took his bass off, threw it down and went, 'Fuck you, that's it!' to Axl," Hughes told MTV.com. "And then Axl picked [stinson's] bass up and threw it at [him]."

Mercuriadis disagreed with Hughes' account. "There is no truth to either claim [that Rose fired a crew member or that Stinson threw down his bass] as evidenced by the fact that our crew remains identical to when the tour started almost six weeks ago, and to say Axl threw a bass at Tommy is pure fiction," he told MTV.com. "The EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were asked to leave the tour not only because GUNS N' ROSES' audience hated them and tore them apart but because they could not handle the response. They were supposed to play a 60-minute set but left the stage after 42 minutes due to the hostile reception. The facts do not support the image they are trying to portray, which is why they are attempting to put this spin on it."

    FUCK MERCK. WHERE'S CHINESE DEMOCRACY?!

  13. Those bands havent changed at all. I like both Pearl Jam and Stadium Arcadium but they have never changed the basic elements. Not's like Chili Peppers turned into Poison. Or PJ did a Faith No More album. But Axl has changed the sound so drastically. It's just not direct at all anymore.

If you can listen to BloodSugarSexMagik and then listen to By The Way and tell me RHCP "haven't changed at all", then you're retarded.

The change they undertook there, much like the change Pearl Jam has undergone from "Ten" compared to "No Code", isn't any different than the change Axl has made. TWAT, CITR and The Blues sound like they could be UYI songs. I.R.S is also a song I could imagine the old band playing.

It's not that big of a difference, it's not like Axl is doing rap music now. He's still making rock music, he's just doing it with less talented musicians.

  14. Putting the tour etiquette/release dates aside you have to give respect to Axl for trying to develop his music. When so many bands release so many albums of samey material. Even big bands like the Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Oasis take very few risks when it comes to their records it's just the same old stuff really over and over again. What you have to say is that at least Axl is trying to do something different something worth doing. And in my opinion he has pulled it off with Better and Chinese Democracy and Oh My God. These songs are a total reivention of GNR in a major way. He pulled it off.

On a deeper level Axl has in fact also tried to change the whole attitude of GNR. To put it simply Axl discovered irony. Like Bono did with U2. U2 pulled it off just and have survived to go on to better things. These two major changes in GNR are both refreshing and risky but you have to give Axl credit for going for it.

The Chili Peppers haven't changed? Their last three albums sound NOTHING like old RHCP.

And I don't even see how you can say Pearl Jam didn't change, they have changed a lot from "Ten".

Besides, change is overrated anyway. GNR didn't need to change. "Better" is a nice song, but it's nothing groundbreaking, but I'll take "Nighttrain" or "Mr. Brownstone" or any old GNR song any day of the week and twice on sunday over it.

  15. I know GNR fans have limited faith in the band, and are ready to jump on any rumor and take em as facts. And when they don't accure, they blame the band who never said it in the first place.

But this is just a thought about what might be going on in GNR camp.

Axls plan throughout this fall has been to release the album and get it out there. It has probably been done since september/october and it was probably handed into the record company. They looks at their release sceduale and sees that they have put all their big guns in november/december. The Recordcompany, regardless of what axl want's puts the album on delay and wants it as one big hit in the spring. With tunes that can go all summer. Becouse they would only hurt themself by releasing it now. When there is less competition for the bucks. More people will concider buying it. So why not release it then?

They are making Axl a Lier while doing so. but they don't care. Their marketingstratigy is gonna make em filty rich again. (hopefully)

Remember that 21st was only a rumor to begin with.

Just repeated enough times that people actually mistook it for truth.

If you're really this gullible I've got some great land in Arizona with an oceanfront view that I'd love to show you.

They'll push back an album over a decade in the making? Use your brain, doofus. Chinese Democracy IS the big gun, and there is not a bigger "gun" that the record company has than that album.

It doesn't matter anyway, albums don't get delayed like that becuase of other albums. This is Geffen records, who is distributed by Interscope records - they have multi platinum selling artists coming out the ass and will be releasing records by those multi platinum selling artists all year long.

You are talking like it was 91 again. If you say chinese Democracy to 10 people on the street. You will be lucky if one of them think it's GNR related.

The album is overhyped in the GNR comunity so much that it's actually getting bigger then the secound comming of jesus.

Some people on here acts like the world would be.

"hey dude, when did jesus retur."

"I think it was around 12 ACD (after Chinese democracy)"

Go up to 10 people on the street right now and say, "Kingdome Come" and I guarentee you zero of them will associate that with the Jay-Z album that just came out today. But he's a "big gun", right?

Chinese Democracy is one of the most hyped albums ever. EVERY music fan has at least HEARD of it. Shit my cousin is 13 and idolizes Kelly Clarkson and she is at least aware of the album title. To add to that, the Guns N' Roses name is still one of the biggest in music.

If Geffen had this in their posession they would be releasing it ASAP, to think otherwise is pure folly and shows how uneducated you are about the music industry.
