  1. Thanks for your toughts.

Indeed currently there are several good deals for 2013 and 2014 stock clearence here in Europe.

I wouldn't consider a 2014 model because I hate the aniversary inlay at the 12th fret

I don't like the 2015 features so I was checking the 2013 clearence:

    - Les Paul Tributes with Min E-Tune for around 900 Euro

    - Les Paul Signature T without min E-Tune for around 1100 Euro

I was thinking about jumping to a Gibson Les Paul 60s tribute in goltop (I really want a goldtop) loaded with min E-tune for only 850 Euro (around 900 dollar); basically to take it in place of my precious late 90s Gibson Les Paul Standard (the "real thing" for me, without weight reliefs or any of that moder things) for those less reputable gigs where anything can happen!

But right now I think I'll save for the 2555x and to build my own Les Paul project.

  2. Thanks for your replies!

I did saw several demos by Gibson and they say that the system has a learning curve, meaning that the first tunings (ex: when changing strings, when using a new tunning for the first time for a set of strings) may take some more time.

I think I'll build my own Les Paul for the first time and install a Min E-Tune instead of buying one of the 2013 Gibsons with this sistem that are still being sold around.

I don't like Gibson 2015, specially the wider neck even tought the G-Force is an improved Min E-Tune system.

  3. ZoSoRose, what are your toughts on the Min-E Tune system of your Les Paul?

Ist it accurate or most of the times you need to fine tune it manually?

Does it changes quickly between tunnings?

I could use a guitar that could jump from tunnings live quickly, instead of switching guitars and tought about it.

    Thanks for your toughts!

  4. I really liked your demo of the 2204 with the "stock" tubes (Winged C EL34's, and 2 Electro Harmonix 12AX7's and a JJ ECC83), sounds just like a JCM 800 should sound!

Maybe the difference to the other clip was the Boss OD-2 pedal, I think the tone was less organic with the pedal engaged.

  5. UYI are my fav sounding albuns ever. I love the contrast between the trebly guitars and the bass/drums; the mid frequencies are somewhat missing and that makes this album sound perfect to me and maybe sterile to you.

It all comes down to your opinion vs everybody else's opinion - no one's right or wrong.

  6. This is plainly not true, Slash is manipulating Joe, Conan and the rest of the media to make himself look great in this story.

    This man must be stopped.

It's simply unbelievable Slash will go to such lengths just to spite Axl.

I mean look at all the people he has to pretend to be nice to, that's a hell of a job he's pulled off all his life.

I totally understand Axl now, Slash is a vicious cancer that must be stopped, he's spreading fake sickening love to everybody and laughing about it behind everybody's back. I bet Slash just went to Gibson and said: "hey, replicate this guitar for me", got it for free from Gibson and gave that one to Joe. All this time Joe thinks he got his guitar back, but it's a copy, and Slash is menacingly laughing playing Joe's real guitar on the toilet.

    That Slash!

Actually you hit the point, even if probably by chance.

That guitar was indeed replicated by Gibson in 2013 and sold in a limited edition of 250 total, I think.

Slash did get to pick one of the replicas - he hand picked the one he liked most after testing them, it's one of the regular VOS, not the aged version (Slash likes to age the guitars himself playing them over the years :).

Btw, stop the crap against Axl. You guys just take any chance to turn every topic on a Slash / Axl fight. Leave their differences to themselves, enjoy the music and respect the musicians.

  7. Yes, that's exactly what I do.

I have a USB sound interface. I can connect the guitar/bass right into it and then with virtual amp simulation I can record and latter edit to taste (amp model, cut/past, effects,...). Still it sounds nothing like a real amp miced properly, with you can also do with the audio interface (mic input).

Basically what you need is a DAW software (I use Cubase but there are several others) + audio interface + lot's of time and patience!

  8. At 0:49 of the first song, i think the bass line should be a lower note/pitch (dont know what its called exactly) and kind of do its own thing, not just be a copy of the guitars.

I do like the 2nd song though.

Just please when you get a drummer, get one that uses real drums, no kick triggers or anything. Needs a natural ambience and thump to it

    Thanks for your feedback!

I agree with you, the bass line should be different than just double what the guitars are doing. If I ever get the chance to record this professionally I'll sure work on some parts including doing a proper bass line :)

These two songs are my first bass atempt; I'm a guitar player with lot's of ideas for songs in my head, I bought a bass just to play/record these 2 songs as well as I learned how to "play" drums just by watching other drumers (like the UYI shows, see which component of the drum kit produces each sound). I never played any drums in my live, not even the simplest beat, I couldn't tell the difference between what sound a snare and toms make and all those cymbals, now I know it all virtually.

Basically I hear all these melodies, drum beats, solos in my head and try to print them.

The guitar parts are easy for me, the rest (bass, virtual drums, keyboards) is just me strugglin to show the complete idea of the songs that are playing on my imagination :) I also have the vocal melodies but unfortunatelly there's no software / VST for it and I won't even attempt to sing them myself!

My next song on the works will have it all: it'll have a mean flamenco feeling, mixed with a heavy /trash metal section, synthetizer and the chorus will fell like the great Thin Lizzy - as weird as it seems to be, I think the final result will be my best song so far! I'm having a hard time getting the right guitar tone on recording, I don't know much about microphone placement on speakers to get the best sound out of the amp I'll use for it. Maybe it'll take 3 months to be ready...

  9. Never is a big word. Pink Floyd happened. So anything can happen.

But the fact of the matter is that Slash just put out an album and that he's touring and promoting that album. Which means there are a lot of contractual obligations for him in the forseeable future. Which means no GnR reunion soon.

The life span for a tour / promotion of a new Slash album is usually short, maybe around 1 year. I'm pretty sure that if a reunion was to happen it wouldn't be the World On Fire promotion that would stop it.

However I do not believe there'll be a reunion. Axl's hurt / angry with Slash, he even wrote here that he had tears of anger for Slash so just let it go. They forge their own paths now, life goes on.
