Oh I agree that Baz is a child, both before and after social media haha.

yeah he certainly always has been, I just feel for me personally, I used to be on the side of those guys are dumb touring without Baz and in the last few years especially, I'm like man when they say it's not worth it, I can see what they mean. It's hard to be a fan of the guy these days. I can only imagine trying to work with him.

both sides are a shadow of what they were without the other though. I think Sanke put it best in an old interview..I think from the early 2000's or so when he said :

"Sebastian can't write 18 and Life and I can't sing it"

I'll try not to ramble, but here's what I think is the story on their split:

Baz wasn't even supposed to be their singer on the first album. The album was done but their singer got in some sort of legal trouble and had to leave the band. The record label found Bach from a Canadian band called Madame X and just sort of put him into Skids.

So he was never really part of the band to begin with but they had enormous success out of the gate, so everyone went with it. From what I understand, he always wanted more to do with writing and direction of the band but their attitude was always like "we did all of this without you, so we don't need your help with writing and direction".

Those things, coupled with the downfall of all bands perceived as "hair metal" pretty much all balled up together to cause his exit. That's a very short version of the whole story, but I believe that's it in a nutshell. At this point, there's zero reason why they all shouldn't put their egos aside and get back together.

All of that aside, I need you to tell me more about this Dutch pressing of HIStory that you found! I don't think I've ever heard about it, so I'd love to hear more.

He's also an incredible pain in the ass to work with. I mean just look at all the articles that come up on blabbermouth with him picking fights with people on twitter. He's a fucking child.

They were trying to reunite a few years ago and couldn't get past a group text because Baz is so fucking immature. I love his singing but social media over the last 5 years or so has made it very clear why those guys don't want to be in a band with him.

There were also some huge band tensions when they got offered a gig to open for the KISS reunion tour and Baz wanted to do it and the band didn't...which is funny because they ended up opening up for them on a later leg without Baz.

I've got a few vinyls on my hit list from gigs I was at: Slash + Myles Kennedy live (the relatively new LTD one from 2019) and Flying Colors - Third Stage Live. For some reason I feel obliged to buy if I was there!

    The one at the roxy?

i was there too and also have the album,  it is almost unlistenable though. Myles is so bad.

  4. It’s awesome when they release shows you were at. The live in Nashville one that came out a couple years ago was it for me. I’m even in one of the 8x10s that came with it.

As for this one, I’m passing as of now because without the connection of being there, it’s pretty similar to the bonnaroo vault which is amazing. Who knows? Maybe I’ll change my mind.

Godammit I just can't stop......I went ahead and bought the marbled red and white edition of the AKIRA soundtrack anyway....even though I already have the regular black vinyl version.......

I blame ALL of you...YOU did this!   You've turned me into a monster!!

BUT....if you're like me and have any love at all for the film AKIRA, buy the Milan reissue of the OST.....no matter the color of the vinyl the packaging is absolutely GORGEOUS.   Amazing illustrations on front and back cover, beautiful double spread gatefold inner illustration, and both disc sleeves have lovely full color art.   Wonderful package....and I haven't even listened to it yet!

Milan is a great label. I think they’re owned by Sony now but they still put out great release.

Nah, it's a similar situation....there's records out there we want and can't have!

Although yours sucks more cause $300 is a lot of dough for a brand new record.   I checked ebay and the P4P record was only $75.   Not even THAT outrageous....I'd have even bought it....IF I hadn't just dropped $25 on the lamer version.   Oh well.  Maybe someday I'll pick it up.

Don't know if anyone here is into Jane's/Porno.....but Good God's Urge is by far the superior of the two Porno For Pyros releases.   If you've never listened to it, give it a try...it's a quick and fun little record.

Also, don’t always go straight to Discogs....

It’s a perfectly fine release. Pretty colors don’t make it better. I have the RSD one as well as the tie-dyed RSD release of the S/T. Both great albums.

  9. Yeah i know all that.I'm well versed in the lynch newsandworld as well haha. Nice to see another big fan, though I LOVED season 3 and enjoyed the dougie plot.

But yeah I could see him doing a spin off in the richard/carrie world or something, or a crime saga in vegas.

If you remember, last year sometime both Laura Dern and Naomi Watts were seen at the netflix offices if I'mnot mistaken and there were rumors of a lynch show then.

Did you get a chance to check out my YouTube videos I posted in the thread? There's a couple up now and I'm gonna put another one up every Thursday morning.

I watched the one of you going through the room and showing the racks you got from the old store.  Very cool.

Very nice man, looks great. Been looking into investing in one of The Beatles boxsets, I may sell the mono and stereo boxsets on CD to raise funds for it, they've never been played, though dunno if they've even held value since I bought them in 2009. How phenomenal is the packaging of the Queen box though? Great piece.

The mono set is the one to get. It’s spectacular, though pretty pricey these days. The stereo one is ok. I’ve had it and sold it. I have the MFSL set that covers the stereo side of things.

And yeah, the queen set was very nicely executed. It’s the same setup as the Beatles sets (Same box, comes with a book, etc...just wrapped differently)

What's everyone's thoughts on originals vs reissues? If you discover a record that has some how passed you by or were unfamiliar with, would you always look toward picking an original pressing no matter the price, or go with a reissue or even both?!

I've been adding to my AC/DC records and picked up 2003 reissues of Dirty Deeds, Powerage and Highway to Hell, with the latter being quite pricey for an original pressing. I'm not normally too bothered, but usually I'd go for an original pressing but I like the cover to be in just as good condition as the record itself and sometimes, unless you're actually in a shop where you can see the record in your own hands, you can get caught out with that. I've heard mixed reviews from some reissues over the years, but I suppose it's largely down to the company that presses them and what masters they use. What's the general consensus among you guys?

    Depends...

If it is a band I absolutely love and collect, like as a hobby...I'll probably get an original or both

If it is a band that I recently discovered that I think is pretty cool and want their music but am not some huge fan or anything, reissues are just fine.

Funny thing is too, in terms of collecting...with some of the reissues these days coming in so many limited variants, sometimes a reissue will be more valuable than an original.

What's peoples opinions on hype stickers and shrink wrap? I've been carefully slitting open the vinyl along the edge maintaining the shrink and hype stickers, but if course it means on gatefold you can't appreciate the inside artwork as much. I'm tempted just to rip the stuff off, but then you lose the hype "Limited Edition" etc stickers.

If they are cool, I keep them. If it’s something that just easy “180g vinyl” or so,etching stupid like that, I trash them. Like Russ, I will try to peel them off and put them on the sleeves I use.

  14. I posted this in the locked and loaded thread but at udiscovermusic right now they have a 30% off sale and if you use code 30OFF!FALL, you get an additional 30% off.

i picked up volumes 1 and 2 or the Def Leppard box sets for essentially the price of one of them.

Theres some other good box sets by soundgarden, john Lennon, etc that can be had for great prices right now.
