  1. Honestly, live this probably sounds pretty good. The video oddly is somehow picking up his vocals way more than anything else and I doubt it sounds like that live. His biggest problem is he tries to mick jagger everything and change the melody and vocal arrangement of the songs as he goes. I saw Van Halen in like 2014 I think and it was spectacular and honestly if you go back and arch videos, I bet it wouldn’t sound much different than this.

You know what's funny? I was the opposite. For some reason, when I tried to log my collection on discogs, I found I just didn't keep up with it. Once I switched over to a spreadsheet, I seem to keep up with it better.

The want list and pricing thing is really cool from discogs though, that's for sure.

Ha, that's funny we have the opposite experiences with it. I love it because there's an app, so i just have it on my phone and iPad and when I am putting my new records in sleeves and in to their spot on the shelves, I make sure to add them.

Picked up the Passenger's album that U2 made with Brian Eno. Quite chuffed with this.

Do you guys log your collections be it on Discogs or on your phones? Originally I done it with all my Queen records but thinking of doing it for everything now.

Also, debating whether or not to purchase Live Era. I can't see it being re-released on Vinyl any time soon, what do you guys think? The price is ridiculous.

I log everything on discogs. I used to keep a word document but I wouldn't always update it so I'd start buying doubles of things I thought I didn't have. it's also nice because you can create a want list, it gives you average pricing of your collection, etc.

I'd also say if you want Live Era go for it. It's not that expensive in comparison to other collectible/rare LP's. Remember, it's 4 LPs so if  you can snag it for like 250 which you can sometimes, it's like 60+ a record. I think it's worth having.

  4. Help Us Stranger - The Raconteurs

South Of Reality - The Claypool Lennon Delirium

Once Upon A Time In...Hollywood OST - Various

Corpse Flower - Mike Patton and Jean-Claude Vannier

The Lighthouse OST - Mark Korven

  5. I got Brendan Benson’s debut solo album in this week. TMR released it on vinyl for Brendan like 23 years after it was released.

I ordered the Uncut Gems soundtrack yesterday. Picked up Bob Dylan’s “Desire” and a couple of the Green River LPs as well.

hopefully getting a new stylus for my turntable for Xmas. Just sticking with the Ortofon 2M blue but the current one has got a lot of use on it.

  6. I think it's more of how it happened.

Guns N' Roses pretty much began and ended their legacy and Axl came back years later with a new lineup of circus freaks.

Sabbath continued on while they were an active band...they did it in flight, rather than a "we're back...but not exactly how you'd like it" type of thing.

Plus the media loved to paint Axl as a bad guy from the beginning so that didn't help his case.

It's also weird when people say you don't notice his mickey voice when you're at the show... it's easier not to care about it when you're at the show, but it's definitely still noticeable.

I'm one of the people who would prefer a 90~ minute set where Axl is giving 100% for the full show, instead of 3 hours where he 'paces himself' by half-assing large portions of the show. The guy has struggled with YCBM, Better, Coma, etc. for years now but he's gotten used to coasting through them, so they stay in the set.

As an example, I saw Aerosmith in 2010 and I think they played maybe 20 songs (including drum/guitar solos) but it was a consistently great show. If Axl is aware of the complaints about his 'mickey' voice, he's probably aware of the praise for his lower voices, so it's even more frustrating that he refuses to adapt the setlist to his current abilities. There's not that many songs that they really 'have to play' for the casual fans that they couldn't overhaul the setlist.

I fully agree, man. I was at the 4-hour forum show 2 years ago and a few nights later I saw Jane’s Addiction play an 8-song set for a charity show. I was way more excited leaving the Jane’s show.

  8. When people say you can't expect him to sound like he used to, it's sort of crazy. His voice is the most defining part of the Guns N' Roses sound. It's a huge part of what people are paying to see.

Now I get if singers can't hit certain notes they used to and things like that but on certain songs it doesn't even sound like Axl Rose anymore and that's the biggest issue to me. I'm not paying to see some old man suck in a bunch of helium and sing the songs I've loved for so many years but often times, that's the sound I get.

I was a big fan of STP.  Core was one of the best of the 90's.  I was a big fan of Velvet Revolver also.  I saw both of those bands with Scott twice each.

Then, a friend of mine scored tickets to see AIC, Bush, The Cult, and STP last Summer.  Sorry, but the new STP singer tries to hard to be a copy of Scott.  At least the AIC new singer kinda does his "thing" and plays guitar.  Not a fan of new STP singer.  It was like watching a tribute STP band.

Yeah he’s even gone through multiple hairstyles since he started which was something Scott always did (and they all look like styles Scott used to have). I feel like the brothers are sort of guiding that ship and telling him these things to sort of sell it as STP even more so.

I saw Scott around 30 times live between VR, STP and solo. He is irreplaceable.

  10. Man, I just can't do it.

I admit the guy is a talented singer and this song is pretty good but the way he essentially imitates Scott on stage kills me.

They announced a show at a venue I dig out here for this tour and I just couldn't bring myself to buy tickets. I love the brothers and Kretz but seeing them without Scott doesn't work for me.

I was thrilled to see Joe Perry's album release show last year with both the brothers in the band because I was super stoked to see them again but outside of "STP".

Alright, I could use some tips from those more experienced than me.

I have been wanting to get a turntable for quite some time now, but have yet to pull the trigger for a few reasons. One of those is that I’m not sure which one would be the best bang for my buck. I’ve done some research and found that the Audio-Technica AT-LP60 seems to be good, and then there’s the AT-LP120 as well. I’m not some serious collector or anything (yet anyway haha), but I do want something that I know I can rely on for a long time. What do you guys have?

120 is the way to go between those two.

I currently use a project debut carbon esprit with an ortofon 2M blue stylus.

My first decent turntable was the ATL120 though and it is a great bang for the buck, especially for a first turntable and as @RussTCB has mentioned somewhere above, you can upgrade the needle very easily and affordably down the road and make it even better.

  12. I don't really understand why people are so up in arms about videos of sub-par performances being taken down.

The entitlement of people these days is insane. Just because you can take your phone in to a show and make a shitty video of a band's performance doesn't mean you have any right to that video or to share it online. It's quite the opposite really. By you buying a ticket, they have the right to record you and use your likeness.

This is really nothing new with any band. If you upload a video of you talking in your room and a song by any given band is playing in the background, theres a good chance that video will be taken down. Add in the likeness of the band at a performance and what do you expect?

And to be clear, I think most things this band and their management do these days is total bullshit but I just don't get all the rage on this topic, regardless of which individuals from which forums are involved, etc etc.

  13. Why are people calling Raw Power and the Stooges S/T Iggy albums?

Raw Power is Iggy and The Stooges and the two before that is arguably the greatest rock band to come out of America..The Stooges. (and no Iggy and the Stooges and The Stooges are not the same. Once Ron is on Bass instead of guitar, it's a completely different band.)

Lust For Life and The Idiot are Iggy Pop albums.

If they are really your favorite albums, maybe learn about what you apparently love so much.

Thanks Mate, I appreciate the advice. I have just ordered the 120LP and can’t wait to get it. And I have seen a good series of several short YouTube videos of a guy talking through the parts and setting up of the AT120LP.

    Cheers, Scott

    Great choice 👍🏻
