I was at both Philly 2012 and 2016. His voice was unreal (especially in the 2012 show). Nightrain was a highlight.
It feels like he always turns up for Philly, maybe to make up for missing the 02 show. I was hype to hear the new band whip out Sorry for the first time (I think?) at 2016.

I didn't realize how lucky I was to be at Philly 2016 - ended up being one of the best shows of the era IMO. That was a great Nightrain, though I didn't love the faster tempo. Nightrain is about the swing.

I'm a big Beatles fan. Even more than I am of GNR. I saw Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band which was great. Would love to see Paul but it might be too late. I've said this before but I really wish they'd do a big televised rock show of people like Paul & Ringo, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, The Cure, The Beach Boys, Guns N' Roses etc. Before they're all dead. Imagine that fucking lineup.
I saw Paul a few nights ago. It was an amazing show. I don’t think it’s too late for you. He actually said “See you next time!” at the end and I think he meant it. He did not appear lacking in energy at all, like he does have one more tour in him. His voice is obviously weak, but he and the band manages it really well.
Ringo and the All Starr band was also a fun show, though I was pissed he didn’t do Octopus’s Garden

Seems like State of Grace got abandoned throughout the years, which is truly a shame.

I like Atlas a lot, but don’t think it would land well at all with others, lol. People don’t want Axls mid tempo ChiDem shit from Guns n Roses

Just replace the whole set with AC/DC songs at this point if that’s what it takes for Axl to sing great

Patiently awaiting their album together.

axl doesn't sound that bad
it's coma playing
Axl is soundchecking 2 days ahead of time? Is this normal now?
Also agree he doesn’t sound that bad.

Axl’s taste making CD was very in tune with what was popular at the time imo. Not the fixation on ballads and mid tempo songs though (I don’t see songs like Catcher or SOD catching on after 1995)
Better, Perhaps, even Shacklers (they let KORN do well on the radio…) could have done well. I think the question is how the band would have been perceived by the public, especially those driving culture (younger people, media outlets etc). Suppose GNR releases a pretty good Chinese Democracy in 2000 - would people have thought they were cool? Would the new branding (Chinese lettering/etc) have resonated with people? New GNR was pretty weird (see: buckethead dancing, finck’s haircut and face, the green lights live), and weird WAS in, but I can’t say if new GNR was the right kind of weird.

How the fuck was CD 09-11 voted out??? Some of Axl's most powerful vocals ever??? The hype of wondering which CD songs were going to be played? The most spontaneous the band has been in the 2000s???

Accidentally voted for my favorite (09-11). Appetite for Democracy OUT

Perhaps is too good of a song. No way they’ll release it - would be too cool of a thing to do for GNR

Do casuals really enjoy Rocket Queen live or something? Why is it 15 minutes long?

TATW has been growing on me again. I think it’s just the “the smells” part that I don’t like lol.
Same experience here, sometimes find it stuck in my head…feel like my brain is hate-listening to it. Anthony’s chorus just sucks much

I have a friend, not a fan of GNR at all, but listened to CD per my suggestion (lol), and Sorry is the highlight for him largely for the lyrics. They're some of the most relatable lyrics on the album, but doesn't sacrifice cleverness in being relatable.

Fantano put out his review of the album. Agree with some points, especially about Kieidis. But disagree with others. I'd might give it a 5.5/10 though.
I feel like his review sounded more positive than the score he gave it at the end.

I think WTTJ is a perfect song for which I’m engaged the entire time through, whereas Estranged in its 10 minutes has times where I’m less interested.

At least round 1 is easy. Gonna get brutal after this one.

This was very difficult. Both are perfect songs to me, except for one thing...the stupid fucking jungle choir intro in TWAT. For that reason, I voted it out.

I thought only the early (Village era) demos had the synth horns. Didn't the album version (and early leaks) have real orchestra?
Hmph. Maybe they are real. If so, still something about that I don't love.

Reluctantly voting Madagascar. I think the instrumentation and solo during the speech are amazing, but I always thought the synth horns in the beginning and throughout the song sound really stale and amateur. Like one of the first sounds you come across in ProTools. Still a good song, but Prostitute wins for being more complete to me and for not having an MLK sample, which is a bit ridiculous.

CD lasting this long goes a long way in explaining why so many here dislike the album - too many buttrock fans

Low Voice on AFD PC Recording Intro Chorus
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS

Same thing with “deep down inside…” on You Ain’t the First. Axl can go low as shit. I’m pretty sure he sung bass in the church choir.
