  1. a nunugnr song without axl vocals? that wouldn't be even GNR.

    exactly

well if its "nugnr" to you then it already isnt GNR so whats your point ? cupcake posts are more than welcome but please come up with something better than "axl shoudlnt sing anymore, his voice sucks" weve already heard you guys say that in 3/4 of all the other posts on this forum... starting to look like its not only gnr that needs new material lol cupcake posts can be fun to read at times, but PLEASE make them original

  2. yeah i didnt really think of this cuz i dont like how axl sounds... his voice is probably the #1 reason i got hooked on gnr in the first place... but to hear another voice on one or two tracks would create more variety, kinda like on the illusions... i get why he didnt do it on CD, he kinda needed to sing the whole way through since he was m.i.a. for so long... he sung lead on afd the whole way through and its one of the best albums ever, but i like that variety duff and izzy bring to UYI 1&2

  3. What rap song is that? I can't understand what he says

he started rapping during rocket queen in tokyo lol sorry i just posted the first vid i found on youtube (didnt even listen really, sorry) but go search youtube for "rocket queen tokyo" youll find it... a little weird but much better than my world imo

  4. i think rocket queen is one of my favorite gnr songs... might actually be my all time fav... definitely #1 for me on AFD.. but to answer the question, no it doesnt really seem like 2 songs in one any more than the other songs... alot of their songs go in 2 or 3 different directions... perfect examples are paradise city, november rain, civil war, etc.

there is one time that rocket queen seemed like 2 different songs though, and i was actually very tempted to post this a few days ago when someone said something about how he thought axl was gonna become a "badass rapper" because of my world lol

  5. was listening to sentimental movie (duff on vocals) on my way to work this morning and asked myself whether or not id wanna hear any of the other guys in the current line-up sing on the next GNR album... im a little undecided but leaning more towards a yes... i mean thats one of the things i like about the illusions... kinda shakes things up when i hear 14 years or So Fine (both great songs imo) i love axls voice, but it was nice to hear duff and izzy once in awhile... and attitude (duff again) is probably one of my favorite covers theyve ever performed too

im just not that familiar with any of these other guys old work really... just wondering what you guys think... im pretty sure any one of them (except maybe frank) could pull it off... and i know stinson sang at a few older gnr gigs... im not so sure id wanna hear ashba, but maybe he could change my mind if axl gave him a shot lol i think it might make them seem a little less like axl and co. if he shared the spotlight by doing more than just giving them instrumental solo spots at live gigs... wadda you guys think ?

  6. I felt it almost as a relief when the UYI lineup disintegrated. It had been such a drawn-out, painful process full of disappointments. The band didn't work at all anymore. It was just anger and conflicts. It was best they just called it quits rather than continue half-ass attempts at being a band. We all realized they would never be able to release msic again and we were frankly just happy they managed to release music post-AFD and tour as much as they did. I was so disillusioned with GN'R that I barely cared when Slash left. The band felt dead to me way before Slash left. But then Axl, to my surprise, decided that he wouldn't quit, too. And although that journey has been anything but successful, I am still very happy that he managed to add one more record to the discography of GN'R and I am very positive that more is to come in the future.

As for people here saying Axl is a dictator, here are a few contemporary quotes from people who know him better than you do:

Dizzy: Hes not by any means a tyrant as the media says he is. He is a lot of fun to work with and I learned so much from him as well. He pushes himself to the brink all the time. If only people realized how hard he works before and after the show and in the studio. I have an incredible amount of respect for him and it makes me better and push myself harder. [The Examiner, June 2013]

Dj: Working with him in real life is the exact opposite of everything the media says about him. Hes one of the nicest guys out there and one of my closest friends in the industry. [The Examiner, June 2013

Josh: You know, it wasn't [a pain in the ass working with Axl], it wasn't for me. You might talk to other people who will say it was. Everybody's always looking for a good Axl story from me, but I don't really have any, man, I know they are out there, but my personal experience, and experiences with him...he was always cool to me. I don't have anything bad to say about the guy. [PodAMatic, April 2013].

Richard: Ive never had any difficulties with Axl. Hes far from a pussycat, but even further from what his reputation belies. Ill tell you one thing, he has more musical integrity than any singer I have ever worked with. He also is a true musician. He is constantly listening and participating in the musical conversation. Hes not just waiting for his turn to sing his parts, hes listening and then helps direct the conversation. Its a pleasure to play with him. It can be an incredibly intense experience. Ive never stood next to anyone on stage that is that intense. He is definitely exorcising demons at times! [Australian Guitar, March 2013].

Tommy: [Axl]s a singer of a band and hes a friend ... we have, you know, a working relationship for 16 years now. Hes a lot of fun to play with, hes a good entertainer and hes a force to be reckoned with [The Star, March 2013].

Dj: Axl is in a position where he doesn't have to be cool with the band but he treats us like gold. He lets us write our own solos and gives everybody their time to shine on stage and I think that says a lot about who he is. He has no problem sharing the spotlight, in fact he quite likes it - otherwise he'd be doing this interview and not me. [7 News, January 2013].

Richard: On whether Axl is misunderstood by most people: Oh, absolutely, because he doesn't defend himself in the press. There are a lot of people who take advantage of that, and ex-members know that's the way it is and they fully use that to their advantage [Total Guitar, December 2012].

Brain: [Axls] always treated me really good.[musicradar, October 2012].

Bumblefoot: Being asked if Axl is his friend or boss: More like my cousin's Uncle's friend's TV repairman. We spend more time laughing and joking, he's more friend than boss. [Teraz Rock Magazine, July 2012].

Dizzy: Being asked bout the public image of Axl being a megalomaniac: I think most of it is cruel and malicious and unnecessary. I dont think hes like that at all. Hes a good friend. Hes like a brother [Vindy.com, December 2011].

Tommy: He likes to actually collaborate with the people hes playing with. He doesnt bring them a song and say, Heres my song. Sing it. Its kind of a strange, old-school, songwriter-producer thing. I dont think he realizes that. Hes really good at getting people to write something that inspires him. [...] We get along great, we really do. It aint perfect, its not great every day. Were all cantankerous in our own right. But the reason Ive played with him so long is that we do get along [Chicago Sun Times, November 2011].

Dj: Obviously Axl runs the ship but, you know, it's like, with anything, he's very much 'This is a band'. It's very much a family. It's a really tight knit family [sVT Swedish Television, 2010].

Dizzy: Axl is very much into having a band. and he's one of the fairest, coolest, nicest guys that I've ever met... and that's just a fact. And I mean he treats us as band members but at the same time with any situation like that... there's always one person that's more important and you know is in charge and you have to know whose in charge. In every band, in every successful band, has a leader... he's the leader [Madagascar88, September 2005].

Want some quotes from Slash, Izzy and Duff about what a dictator Rose truly is? They know him pretty well themselves and none of them are dependent upon staying in his good graces, unlike the employees of the band now.
he also cost them a lot of money so i think those opinions would be pretty biased... but so are the new members cuz theyre still getting paid
  7. i don't think "definite maybe" can be considered as an update. a leader of a band can't be so clueless, he's gotta have some goal if he wants his band to move forward. but i do believe axl is clueless, TB tells him exactly what slash told him "shut up and sing" and they do the rest. i would say axl has no idea there's a gnr dvd in the works, not that this is gonna be released or anything but...

wasnt dj the one that gave the definite maybe? Maybe ron? Idk but i think the quote the op posted is the only time ive heard that question be asked to axl... and the plan or "direction" as you called it was to tour cd for quite awhile, which is more or less whats going on... there've been some bumps in the road and yeah axls FUCKED up... not sure if he does what TB says tho, i think its more the other way around and thats why they are where they are... as for the dvd, who cares if axl knows ? Im a huge fan and couldnt give two shits myself about a dvd... seems more or less like the ppl who really want it just want something to talk shit about
  8. Yeah, slash does some head scratching shit @ times but so does everyone.....lol - he does though take care of his fans - he puts out albums regularly, when he says somethings gonna happen, it happens (cd, dvd, setlist changes, live sound board cd's available for alot of 2010 shows, etc.), keeps fans reasonably informed of his bands plans, puts on great live shows, plays shit from his entire catologue, etc. and the list goes on.....or the exact opposite of axl and fakeGnR

slash is fucking awesome, so is axl... and so are what you refer to as fakeGnR - come to think of it idk why in the fuck everyones so caught up on the axl vs. Slash beef? Thats between them... i aint pickin sides, i love them both - maybe the "idiots" axl was referring to are the people that pick sides in a feud they know nothing about?

That's actually a pretty good post.

Fans who get caught up in the entire slash-vs-axl feud ........just seems really weird to me.

I don't like most of Slash's music, but I sure wish Axl treated his fans the same way that Slash treats his fans. At least Slash puts out music and keeps his fans updated on his musical plans. Two things that Axl chooses not to do, for some reason.

yeah idk why people feel obliged to pick a side... i guess its human nature to get caught up in that shit, but really just cuz you like axls work more, doesnt mean you should bash slash or vice versa... i think it mainly comes down to people being agry that theyre not making music together anymore, so they feel the need to blame someone... axl fans blame slash, slash fans blame axl, simple as that... as far as slash keeping fans updated well, id think that has alot to do with him having better management right now... about him putting out more music well... could be because he doesnt take it to heart as much as axl... i guess he figures people will buy wtv he puts his name on, and the same could be said for axl, but i personally think theres more to just selling records for axl... there probably isnt for slash... maybe another reason they split... slash sayin well put it out put it out, axl sayin nono it aint ready yet well... theres only so much of each other one can take

I wouldn't say i pick sides - i just prefer the way slash conducts his business and his music over the way axl conducts his business and his music - I think if Axl was a bit more professional and actually wrote some kick ass rock tunes the fans would be a lot more appreciative
to me chinese democracy and better are 2 of the best songs put out in the last 5 years... i might even go so far as to say theyre 2 of the top 10 songs (not only rock) in the past 10 years... maybe not as good as most of afd and uyi but better than some of it... it all comes down to personal taste tho... i dont think there would be any hype over the next gnr album unless the last one was at least decent, which it was... like i said tho, pretty sure the delay has alot to do with the label and management... and obviously axl... as far as i know he calls all the shots now, but there was a time when he didnt, and that period of time is when we got alot of good music and fast... maybe he should go back to a manager he doesnt love and who doesnt love him... he probably knows all that friction contributed to his work but doesnt wanna go back there... maybe the reason he has hard feelings for some of the "fans" is cuz they would rather him be miserable and make better music, as opposed to being happy and doing what he wants... i am curious tho as to why he doesnt just start his own label tho instead of getting fucked time and time again by the ones hes worked with?

  10. figured this was a good place to post this vid for those who havnt seen it... pretty sure at one point he says he thinks CD is a great album but he personally wouldnt listen to it (he chose his words very carefully there lol) but imo thats probably the way alot of the ex-members feel about axls work and thats exactly why theyre not in the band anymore... cant really work on something you wouldnt even listen to

gotta agree with him when he says theres ALOT goin' on on that album too

  11. Tied up, tied down,
    up against the wall
    Be my rubbermade baby
An' we can do it all

THAT kinda stuff was the raw dirtiness that made gnr into gnr... also love the stuff in my sig down there, which is much more artistic... its really tough to chose a favorite man, one day ill love one song and the next ill love another, depends what kinda mood im in, which is why i love axls diverse repertoire

  12. what i wouldnt give to see them play one in a million... not only cuz i love that song, but i just wanna see axl do some controversial shit again... theres been a few little things here n there, but i want him to go fuckin overboard lol play some new shit or somethin

    I agree.

Axl has been pretty tame since 2010 and it's kinda sad. Coming on stage on time or early is also sad and not what Axl Rose and Guns N Roses is about.

imagine he finally took vince neil up on that challenge ? lol
