    So about the lyrics...

Too hard school and you thought you were here to stay
If that were true it wouldn't matter anyway

So the guy thought he was there to stay. If that was true, that he was there to stay, it wouldn't matter anyway. He would still do things his way and thus "it" wouldn't work... errr what?

See this is why Rock the Rock is the superior song.

Who wants to parse all this backhanded Kardashian sniping...

    We're a sonic demolition teaaaaam!!!

  2. Edit: Weird are there multiple versions? Because I just heard a different one from this morning (labelled Jackie Chan) and it's... substantially better. This was originally a critical review but I actually dig this second version I heard. Still very "CD" but better than a lot of the other songs on that album. Axl's voice sounds better, too?

Why was Rhiad chosen over this? Haha.

You're missing out on some GREAT music by choosing not to listen to later material by bands.

You really haven't heard A Different King Of Truth by Halen? I've been enjoying that album for 7 years. It's a GREAT Van Halen album.

The Stones have a single called Doom & Gloom that kicks ten kinds of us. Also, their Lonesome & Blue album was great.

I could go on and on. There's tons of great music from artists in their later stages of their careers.

Both those examples are spot on! I do agree with papashaun, though, that there is a lot of regrettable late career rock music. I'm pretty skeptical of any new Guns album.

A Different Kind of Truth used material left over from the 80's and Blue and Lonesome features classic songs the Stones cut their teeth on and never recorded.

It seems like a lot of bands can get more technically proficient (or at least maintain their chops) but lose touch with their ability to write. All the more reason to dig up the stuff from the 90's writing sessions, if it exists in any form (which I highly doubt).

Nearly forget/repressed all memory of the whole 'GNRair' nonsense.

    Thanks for reminding me...

I can't comprehend how such a vital band is becoming a busted-ass KISS... makes those Slash digs at Paul Stanley ring a little hollow (even though I doubt he would book a flight on GNAir of his own volition).

I think at this point I'm just hoping Dexter will come back and call us all bitch boi's one more time before I clock out permanently.

Probably, I think it's more Frank that he's the most dissatisfied with.

Combined with the fact that he can’t do anything about it.... even though he’s an “equal member.” Can’t rock the GNR Corp. boat.

Fitz in GNR would be smokin!

  6. Hate to be a downer but it has that feel of the worst aspects of rock music still lingering about... Hollywood Vampires etc....

What kind of musical chemistry are these guys going to have? Four guitarists? Two shred leads, a 70 year old Ace Frehley and Gilby? What is this?

It's gonna be loud... in a leaf blower sort of way.

    Could be wrong, though!

  7. I don’t know why they messed with YCBM. The Tokyo DVD version is really great and better unedited. At least they kept that ending scream... fucking legendary! With that pulsing whammy...

I love GNR, I love live albums... I never listen to Live Era anymore. Feels too cut and pasted; disjointed — just doesn’t work for me.

To only put out one album between 1991 and today means a radically different appraisal of the person who released 4 between 1987-1991. We seriously have to ponder whether Rose was that talented (creatively) to begin with, and/or whether he just had ''x'' amount of songs in the bank which left him bereft artistically once those songs were exhausted? We may query whether he requires Stradlin's presence?

Harper Lee only had the one book!

I do think he probably needs Stradlin... just because of their history they have an equal power dynamic and can shade in each-other's weakspots. I don't hold it against him that he needs a songwriting partner as that's pretty common among the greats. I do think it sucks, though, that he doesn't acknowledge it or want to re-establish it!
