  1. Axl said he resented (my word) the size of the monetary deal Izzy struck with management for those appearances. Like why would that bother you?? Enough to comment to the press which you hardly ever do about anything. He really views it as a meritocratic business enterprise -- his prerogative. Count those coins. Sucks, though.

  2. Did Ax feel like he couldn't perform at that level for 2 songs? Can we all agree that Out Ta Get Me at Dodger Stadium is probably the most compelling part of this whole NITL thing thus far? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if that "so you can suck me!" was directed at Popcorn. Maybe he needs that latent seething resentment... Anger is Axl's batteries :) . Before that show my favorite post-UYI Axl performance was Nightrain in 2006 at Download... and there's Izzy!

I've got 2000+ posts on a GNR internet forum and I didn't even bother to see them when NITL came to town... but I'd pay 1000 bucks to see a show at that level with Izzy along for the ride.

In a way, the whole thing has become a rather cold operation, might work to bring in the money and make the vanilla crowd happy but other than that and in the long run? They sell everything that seperated them from the bands they once crushed and for a brief moment put them on a level with bands like the Stones, Aerosmith and Zeppelin.

I remember when Page and Plant did that Unplugged thing in the 90's and toured without Jones, it was a success and fans loved it but it was nothing like the actual reunion concert, both when it comes to the quality of the music and the receiption of the audience. They will be remembered for that, not for unledded. If GNR don't want the artistically half assed NITL tour be their last statement they better start thinking long and hard and act accordingly.

What they just don't see is that Izzy is the one who gets the nerds, the bloggers, the hipsers, the writers, the music journalists...basically everyone who isn't too excited about poster boys and just appreciates good music and good songwriting will be on their side then. I admit most casuals don't give a shit, but do you know any actual music fan who hates Izzy Stradlin? I don't. He is the SOUL of this band and to a level you can say that about Adler too.

If they travel in their own planes and have seperate hotels anyway they might as well do it the right way for the sake of the musical chemistry wich is undeniably pissing on everything they did solo or side wise after the original lineup. Have a look at the boost Adler gave them when he guested on two songs, that was just crazy, everyone was playing better and the energy was just insane. They could keep Frank and Richard around as wild cart players just in case but to not bring the full reunion is just stupid on so many levels.

I believe if they sit down with Izzy and Steven and treat them with respect they could find an arrangement, not gonna happen when TB is involved though. They did a world of good for Axl but they were not around in the old days. They just don't get "it".

    YOU SUMMED IT UP!

I think I can refrain from reading these threads now that you've distilled it down.  Again, they all have more money than they could spend at this point... Slash is going to spend the rest of his life wearing chucks living out of a suitcase until he drops dead on stage, Duff has his Starbucks money, Axl can have his lamb dinners until 2200... Embrace the insane one in a million combustible chemistry that made you and lean into it before you're all fucking wrinkled has-been's and make a final statement. It's a band not an insurance firm.

David Lee Roth said it on Marc Maron the other day when speaking about his personal relationship with EVH and how it doesn't fucking matter... "Ask Nitro what he thinks of Glycerin?"

I don't have a 5.1 setup but I use the discrete tracks for learning guitar... it's pretty amazing how much musical depth there is to the album. Like channel 1 is all Izzy and channel 2 is all Slash, and the rest an interesting combo... hearing Izzy's falsetto in random places I never knew!

I think sense of humour has a lot to do with it.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers were from the same area as GnR but the reason The Chilis (back then especially) were so cool in the sense of being contemporary whereas Guns weren't is because Guns took themselves very seriously.  Look at any picture of Guns from back in the day, they are very much posing and very like...y'know, trying to come across as cool, which they were to be fair, to me anyway...but that sort of seriousness about that stuff had very much been punctured long ago.

I wonder if they stuck around if they could have wrenched back the "coolness" by really leaning into the excess, actually leveraged the cartoon aspect as a strength and had some songs to back it up ala The Darkness. That's not the version of GNR I would have liked necessarily but... like an amplified UYI GNR... Axl full Elton John.... dolphin animatronics... massive tongue in cheek stadium shows, haha.... After like '95 when everyone was sick of Unplugged albums and flannels.

  6. Yeah man.... I think for a lot of famous people, if you go on a mission looking for “so and so is a dick,” you can get into a confirmation bias situation. There’s a lot of stories of him being really cool, signing really elaborate autographs, just being chill as f.

Sucks in that moment he couldn’t recognize a 15yo kid super fan and have a little tact... but maybe he just fought with Perla, Scott was strung out and he was late for sound check!

When I see those dudes shoving Stratocaster pickguards in his face it makes me wince.

Slash is probably my biggest celebrity idol in that childhood hero sense... the reason why I’ve spent thousands of hours playing guitar... honestly I’d be afraid to meet him, haha.

Love dirty honeys ep. They have that early 90s LA rock sound, and one band im looking forward to their debut album.

That wasn’t too shabby! Solo didn’t take off for me, though. He kills the energy with that slow walk down thing... I would have hit a huge Slash oblique-bend and started ramping it up!

  8. I don’t know why people would take a couple social media posts as some glaring contradiction.

If you love someone, love their friends, they dedicate a song to you, get you pregnant and assault you before you’re old enough to drive... I mean that’s a complicated relationship. It’s messy. If you’re convinced she’s trying to cash in that’s your prerogative but we all know Axl’s extensive mental health and therapy journey... I mean you need to work through your shit.

How did Axl feel when his family tried to rewrite the history of his abuse? Check the rant videos on YouTube.

(Edit: My reference to a song is Don’t Cry, which she apparently has a relationship to, not that it really matters to the broader point).

I had the same impression, he didn't really seem into it. I remember first time seeing Myles in 2014 (couldn't stand him back then) and he won me over with his enthusiasm on stage, like he loved being there. I haven't watched the stream very actively, at times I was only listening, but I thought he was a bit meh. I didn't get that impression when I saw them in February. Maybe he had an off night. (Though not everyone seems to agree he was different )

I'd go if I were you though, but I'd go see Slash with whatever singer he chooses.

    Aight I’m not crazy!

The venue for the show is a seated theater... bums me out. He did it for WoF too and it was cool but... people in the stands were actually sitting down.

On the Slash album tour he did a club and it was so f’ing awesome. I’ll never forget them ripping Do It For The Kids of all songs.

He began going to Greatful Dead places, befrending GD friends and people, listening to only GD...as Rich said 'He seemed to have lost it in GD world. He wouldn't do anything that didn't involve GD.  He really belives he is in Greatful Dead. He went insane'.

Man what is it with that band... it's like Scientology. Fuuuck that, man.

    :D

  11. Does Myles seem super lethargic to anyone else in those clips? Felt like he was going to fall asleep at some points. Sick or just his insane work schedule coming up on him...? Like he took some benadryl... or is it just me...

Are we going to have to start saying I want 2012 Myles back?? Oh for f....

Trying to decide if I should go to the Vancouver show on the 18th.
