At this point, they should just scrap the Perhaps release and put out a different song instead. Perhaps is old hat now.

I mean this is obviously the case, right? Touchtunes wouldn’t have had the song in their system otherwise. This fiasco happened because of a last minute change. Unless a good reason is eventually provided, I’ll assume incompetence with this group.

I obviously don’t mean cut and paste is literally the problem. Doing that in the moment or around the same time is one thing…cutting and pasting different eras together is more the issue. That’s not how you create timeless songs that people respond to. Also you can tinker around too much and it kills the energy/vitality of a tune. Axl did it numerous times. The Blues/SOD being one example. Catcher, TWAT,etc etc

Probably not a good sign. Would seem like just releasing the song today (live debut tomorrow in NYC/NJ) would be the smartest/easiest way to go at this juncture. Unless of course you’re not planning on releasing it anytime soon.

CD was a multi year cut and paste job. It’s why there are good parts in a lot of the songs, but virtually all of them are soulless and missing something in totality. There’s a reason most albums aren’t made this way.

I think his studio playing and especially live for The One You Loved Is Gone was fanfuckingtanstic. I can’t totally judge him on these retread CD songs as I can see why the inspiration wouldn’t be there. With that said, I was hoping for a little more as well on Perhaps. I mean it goes with the shorter song, but I’m always hoping for a Slashesque solo that is amazing.

I mean it’s hard not to be seen that way when you hardly ever release music. Even when they have recently, it’s always accurately prefaced in the media as being an old “CD era” song. Probably makes most people not care that much as it comes across as a half ass effort as that era was 15-20ish years ago at this point.

May be worth it to try and just keep it to yourself in case they never actually release it 😆

Was a fair bit of noise in the bar, but obviously sounded significantly better than the cell phone recordings. Solo is more seamless and sounds pretty good when you’re listening to it on a jukebox imo.

I imagine this isn’t what he would like to release as new GNR music after all these years. Maybe this is just him not giving a shit as Axl can’t even be bothered to record newer vocals, let alone write new songs.

Haha yeah, but the headlines make the whole operation look like a farce. Silence isn’t the response to this kind of blunder. As mentioned they could roll with this funny thing that happened and use it to their advantage. I’d be delighted/surprised if they do the that.

Agreed, it is still kind of a weird way to start a solo though. Although the guitar is growing on me each time I listen. Not incredibly memorable but it fits the song and not every song (especially one that is under 4 minutes) needs a Slither type solo.

The GNR camp really is a joke without even commenting on all this. It makes them look even more incompetent 🤷‍♂️

I highly doubt GNR would have a legal leg to stand on regarding a cell phone recording of a song they or someone associated with them was dumb enough to let get out on an official platform. Stupid it’s being deleted. Just release the fucking thing on all platforms.

The whole Skool motif (the title, bell ringing,etc) is pretty corny. Kinda ruins the song for me. Or at least limits its appeal.

You would think, but who knows with this band. They should just release it now (or tomorrow).

That’s true of late night shows with a bunch of writers, but they could’ve still done national morning shows or podcasts,etc.

Axl actually isn’t a perfectionist is probably the most likely explanation. That was just another lie/excuse people made up to explain his inability to release stuff. Lazy or scared are more likely imo.
