  1. I thought Paul did well. On rocket queen, think about you, oh my god. The blues. He's no big solo player. But he can play some stuff and play some nice rhythme.

How dare you? "You don't know nothing about music", "he's a hack", "playing in Axl's solo band" blah blah blah.

Not sure what he precisely wrote / played on Chinese but I like the songs he was involved in.

  2. No...

even some crappy audio bootlegs from 87 to 93 are better than this stuff... no, not interessed

This. And a live era 2000-2014 would sell about 10 copies. You just know TB would use UYI Tour recordings to promote jt too. I'd rather listen to a Bieber Live Era album than "Nu Guns" live era. What a disaster it's been.

That's not true. There have been numerous great gigs. Problem is broadcasted ones have often been bad.

Now we have those 'Axl Rose disaster' videos. Maybe time to edit ourselves a good one ?

  3. Yes, most definitely. Whether you liked Chinese Democracy or not is one thing, but as a live band its undeniable that GNR during the CD era was/were/is/are a beast.

    This.

And if I had to chose specific era, I'd say (in order) 2006, 2010, 2002. We have the Vegas Blu-ray and CDs for the 2011+ years so no need to bother.

Might be a good thing to close the chapter actually, for those who liked it. Not a big physical release but an album on iTunes / Spotify would do.

  4. I think the diversity kills it. For example Sorry is one of my favourites on the album. For others it's a terrible song.

I never listen to ITW but others really like it.

A few songs only make consensus, like Better or TWAT and even the latest is sometimes criticized.

Then there's the name issue. I bet people won't give it a fair spin on that basis alone.

I would respect your opinion, Nico, if you gave it say, 7-8/10. Even 9 would suffice, accepting a certain bias. But 10 must surely be reserved for your Appetites, Exiles, Peppers and Blonde on Blondes.

    I gave it a 9, so we're all good ;-)

Totally agree with your point, though I understand that for some it's their favorite album. Which is very different than being the greatest album of all times.

    Thanks for the discussion though!

  5. But it is not a reunion of anything! Axl, Slash, Duff with Fortus and the other dicks do not represent anything. They have never existed as a band! What actually are you reuniting here?

You guys should stop arguing about what's a reunion or not. If something happens I don't think it will be a reunion of a specific lineup. It will be a new lineup with very important faces making a return.

  7. Come on guys, I'm probably taking the bait here but there are people out there, myself included, that actually like Chinese Democracy.

In the end who cares, this debate will never end. I'm a musician, I think (at least I hope) I'm a bit educated music-wise, I'm curious about different genres / styles / periods etc. and I still like CD :shrugs:

Now if you don't like it that's fine, but sometimes the wording of some posters used to describe the album or people defending it is really over the top and not necessary.

is it perfect IMO? No. It does have flaws and the biggest one is clearly the unnecessary time it took to make, but it's a record that I enjoy listening A LOT (10-11 songs on there).

And I find the whole saga of Axl's insane journey to make it very interesting.

  8. It's just personal taste in the end.

People can keep on calling it 'utter shit', 'turd' and other names if it makes them feel better.

Me, I NEVER listen to AFD (I only like live versions of some of the songs) and barely a few songs from the Illusions. I listen to CD songs everyday.

  9. Why would anyone want a hack like Fortus over Gilby Clarke?

    Man I hope you're kidding..

No I'm not. Fortus is a reminder to Slash etc of the hideous 'nugnr' era. He is inherently an 'Axl man'. If you are doing a reunion then do it right and sweep away the garbage hack era. Gilby recorded a studio album and was chosen by Slash. He toured with the old band behind one of the old band's albums so therefore at least carries a connection with that era.

So Slash might get a sore ass if Fortus is around to remind him that Axl's band used to exist? That's your reason?

In a sense, yes. Why would anyone want to combine leeches with a reunited line-up like some freakish Frankenstein monster hybrid. i do not want to see any of these nugnr wankers near legends like Slash and Duff. Slash has never played with Fortus. Why should he be expected to play with somebody he has never played with?

You know he wanted Fortus to play with him right?

I'd much prefer Richard than Gilby. He's part of the CD era and wether you like it or not, the era is part of GNR's history.

Duff had no issue playing with the current lineup either.

  10. adler would be a major liability, just look at the way he talks, it's like hes 5 years old

he is so fucking stupid, he just talks and talks on whatever comes to mind, digging he's old grave

him mentioning Duff is judgemental is nails in the coffin, no shit he would be upset with you - running around like a drunk idiot, when Duff is now the complete opposite

Furthermore, Adler cannot be himself without Guns, meaning, this is the only thing he is holding on to for hope - he needs other shit to keep his mind on

complete fuckign idiot but what a great drummer back in the day

it's like he knows they aren't going to give him the nod so he's getting in his little gay cheap shots before

Bro, can you low down the language you are using? and he is still a great drummer, check out his performances from Adler's Appetite or ADLER.

Have you seen the language people use to talk about the new band or its members / ex-members?

On topic yeah, he should just shut up. He's not helping himself at all. And in the article what he says IS why they don't trust him.

In the end I pity the guy. He's made a fool of himself so many times...

  11. Great album, but it's hard to grasp that what we have isn't even the 100% final product :-S

What do you mean? Apart from the booklet, the album is just the way Axl wanted it to be. Well, at least according to Axl himself.

Yes, I meant the booklet ;-)

Has Axl said that it's how he wanted it to be? I can't remember. There are people theorizing that the label forced his hand etc.
