  1. I don't hear re-recorded stuff to lengths that you can actually go saying "omg this is so fake". There might be some re-recorded parts, but not everything of it, not to great extents, that is fuckin' bullshit in your twisted minds.

read post #97 and just listen to LIVE ERA. if you're somehow in the know about Axl's voice, you will get the point. if not, you have plenty much time to learn about.

I read everything in this thread and I have listened to "LIVE ERA" for years before you were born, so don't understimate me as a fan.

I dont have shit to learn because what you wrote in that post is utter NERD CRAP and I'm not into that. I said I do believe there might be re-recorded parts, for sure there are, or mixes of different shows in one song, but it's not something the general audience cares for or something that makes you feel you are listening to studio recorded vocals.

Most of it sounds like Axl live because it is Axl live. Period.

insulting me, cause of your own laziness to compare LIVE ERA parts (as mentioned in post #97) exactly or being unable to tell the difference, wont get you nowhere, as those Axl vocals still remain re-recorded. you can believe what you want, and Santa Claus still might be real for some people.

but i will help you a little: i did buy LIVE ERA myself the day it was released. over the years i've also done some DVD projects with comparing LIVE ERA sound to the source audio sound. and those are facts, too!

    LAZINESS??

    :rofl-lol:

This is not laziness, this is me having a job and more important things in life than being a gnr nerd doing this bullshit you say you've been doing for years.... Tell me, what's the outcome of it? Did you get paid tons of money for investing so much precious time on this?

And most importantly.... Did Axl call you to congratulate you on your findings? Because now THAT would be an accomplishment.

Yes, its your laziness that you a) dont take some freetime comparing to the things written in post #97 (the proof is right there!) to see what we're talking about, but you spending time to post your thoughts anyway on here, and b) further more you still ride on the "no re-recorded vocals" crap.

and even more further, and this might be the real problem for you, that you aint able to hear the difference and/or are unwilling to admit that you're wrong. its as simple as that.

  4. No, it's just about that he got (for whatever reasons) it totally wrong with the vocal parts of LIVE ERA which still are mostly re-recorded. and how fans hear it or are not able to hear it or maybe dont want to hear it, still doesnt change the fact that this guy is simply wrong on this issue! its just false info that had to be cleared up, because in times of short attention spams in these days people do believe what they read some faster than they should in terms of reality or proven facts. on another note, seeing you have over 12.000 posts here, i would have thought you would be more into GN'R to know about the LIVE ERA fake live album.
it's nothing personal, i enjoyed most of the rest from his memories. peace out!

    Limulus

  5. Who cares!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap. It's one guy's opinion from 20 years ago when he was really young and he even said that he could be wrong.

    Move on people.

There are FAR more interesting things in his interview than re-recorded vocals.

    Well, fans DO care!

We have seen it multiple times that others try to re-write GN'R history by somehow new or secret sources or whatever.

really no offense to all the other info, but in the case of "Live Era" there is no chance that you can come through with "no re-recording". why is that? because here are fans on boards being fans from the late 80s, fans who went through all this bullshit with this band, and there are actually fans who still listen to old "real" live recordings over all these years and who pretty much know what Axl has been capable off in the 80s, early 90s, late 90s, 2002, 2006, 2011+. and the proof is right above in my last post. Just listen to Live Era and read what the other fan said about.....you might be surprised how much he nailed the truth! just to grab some "new" info and believing it doesnt help anything. listen and judge yourself! now you got even some kind of new booklet for Live Era vocals ;-)

  6. digging this out from an older topic from another forum from a user "RaspAxl":

"I know this 'Live Era re-record topics' has been already discussed million times
but I coudn't find any post about exactly the certain parts of WTTJ that had re-recorded
I've been listeng a ton of boots and new demos and think I can distinguish between 'Axl's old voice' to 'new one'
the lyrics below, bolded lyrics are re-recorded I think, for 100% sure
I wanna know what you guys think about this! thank you and excuse my bad Eng.

Nightrain, Mr.Brownstone, My Michelle, Pretty Tied Up, Move To The City, Rocket Queen, SCOM, November Rain
    - whole vocals are re-recorded but if you hear the scream 'aaaww' just like at 2:02 in Brownstone, it was left alone. Axl couldn't make the sound like that anymore

Used To Love Her : re-recorded after 3:22
Patience : first half and second are from different sources

    [You Could Be Mine] :
    I'm a cold heartbreaker
Fit ta burn and I'll rip your heart in two
An I'll leave you lyin' on the bed with your ass in the air
I'll be out the door before ya wake
    It's nuthin' new ta you
'Cause I think we've seen that movie too

    aaaww

    'Cause you could be mine
But you're way out of line
    With your bitch slap rappin'
    And your cocaine tongue
    You get nuthin' done
I said you could be mine

    aaaw

now holidays come and then they go
it's nothin' new today collect another memory
when I come home late at night
don't ask me where I've been
just count your stars I'm home again

    aaaww

    'cause you could be mine
But you're way out of line
    With your bitch slap rappin'
    And your cocaine tongue
    You get nuthin' done
I said you could be mine

you could be mine X 4 mine, mine, mine

you've gone sketchin' too many times
why don't ya give it a rest
    why must you find

    another reason to cry

while you're breakin' down my back n'
I been rackin' out my brain
it don't matter how we make it
'cause it always ends the same
you can push it for more mileage
    but your flaps r'wearin' thin
and I could sleep on it'til mornin'
    but this nightmare never ends
don't forget to call my lawyers
    with ridiculous demands
an you can take the pity so far
but it's more than I can stand
    'cause this couchtrip's gettin' older
tell me now long has it been
    'cause 5 years is forever
an you haven't grown up yet

    you could be mine
But you're way out of line
    With your bitch slap rappin'
    And your cocaine tongue
    You get nuthin' done
    I said you could be
    you should be
    you, you could be mine
    yeah!

Yesterdays : not re-recorded but at end of the song, Axl's 'yesterdays...' whispers are removed.

Estranged : whole vocals are re-recorded but only 'When I jumped into the river'part at 6:50 were left alone.
there's one thing is funny. Estranged had taken from Tokyo 1992.02.02 as you know.
take a listen at about 9:00, he sung 'BUT everything I'VE ever known is here' in Tokyo and 'SEEMS everything WE'VE ever known is here' in Live Era.
but both are wrong. because corret lyrics are 'BUT everything WE'VE ever known is here'

  7. @nambis:
VHS were made for being watched on 4:3 tv. and the best way to digitize VHS still is doing outmaxed quality DVDs, cause VHS simply cant get higher resolution like Blu-Rays (in fact DVD resolution is too much already for a VHS source) you can convert it down to any other format you like!
the DVDr plays fine on EVERY dvd stand alone and dvd rom i've tested, you're feedback was the only one not being able to playback it properly....so it might be an issue on your equipment.

for the rest of the fans:
So, as promised, last day, tuesday(!) Jan 06, 2015 the 3rd version from GN'R Ritz'88 (Promo VHS), the "Non Sharpness-Filter"-version is on free torrent on the GN'R tracker:

    http://www.chinesedemocracy.com/trac...5813deccc82cc9

(you might have to sign up there)

    whats different?
    - the 1% sharpness filter (which makes a huge difference in details but also makes the overall image little more grainy) is disabled, so you'll get more of a purist/unedited version imagewise
    - one audio fix is on there (in the end of "Paradise City" on V.2 i've missed that the silver audio doesnt have the Axl mic throwing sound, so i edited in the vhs audio in that part which had the sound)
    - little other intro (one other pic + dvd title)
    - "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is starting 1-2sec more early in the show timeline than on V.2

Is it really needed? Well, for the purists i'd say so. i do like the sharpness version more, but didnt want to bury the more unedited image version. you can decide!

  8. Also focus on the timeline: in end of 2009 he came back with a total other optical hair outfit again: much shorter, no braids etc. he said that 2008-2009 was his "hardest year ever", that included CD release times but also Beta struggle times and......hair trouble times again. that also might have been a reason to hide until end of 2009 again.

  9. soooooo, we've got a tuesday today! well, at least in New York still. and as the show is IN New York i kinda fullfilled the promise to release it on a tuesday 2014 ;-)

    Here it is:

    Notes:
    - new release 12/30/2014 (Tuesday!)!
    - this is some very nice quality from the real classic GN'R! if you're looking for a sweet little version out of the 40 (or so) circulating GN'R/Ritz'88 versions....you better get this one!
Near mint promo vhs, very high quality equipment and settings have been used for the transfer and editing. Also exact transfer details known (more on that little later as, writing this info right now, i'm short in time).
    - HUGE thanks to Troccoli [http://www.troccolitm.com/], the owner from this nice promo vhs, thank you a lot for borrowing and all the waiting time!!!! Thanks a lot to "Rockphantom" for helping out with Westwood One silvers!
    - no official audio/video in the menus or within the show
    - intro + menu audio = parts from some more rare drum machine demos; Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, Sweet Child O' Mine (Pasha 8/1986), all speed corrected.
    - no commercials within the show
    - no tv logo within the show
    - no logos within the show!
    - motion menus included
    - show ticket, promo vhs pic and nice stage pic included in the intro/menus
    - video dED: image centering, 4x black borders editing, small brightness fixing, +1% sharpness filter. no color editing, they're already sooo nice as they are.
    - audio dED: just synching, crossfading, fading in/out, volume adjustment, NO EQ!
    - about the audio: there doesnt seem to be a full unedited version, all the different copies do have edits here and there. even the "unedited VHS" circulating has a few "F-word-edits".
it appears that Westwood One did multitracks from the show and, in post-show-editing, turned down the volume from the vocal track for the F-words. as a result those parts couldnt be fixed perfectly and will stay so until some high quality release, re-broadcast or leak will happen (which is very unlikely).
also it seems that they did mix the show/band in mono but added stereo fan audio with different sound volume on the different releases. that also couldnt be crossfaded perfectly, you still can hear that in some parts, but nothing to do about.
    - there is about 1-2 seconds video trouble in the beginning of "Rocket Queen" and could not be fixed - but it isnt disturbing at all as no frames got lost, and its wayyyy better than on the Version #1/SA XP transfer (for possible upcoming bootlegs from this "free fan release"....this would be the part for verifying the source)
    - this was a very time consuming project. i needed 7(!) seperate transfers to get the best (= this!) one out of this more than 26 years old vhs!
    - Mama Kin is not on the Promo VHS, this "bonus clip" is sourced from an unedited VHS (lower quality) SA SP transfer but mainly overdubbed with Westwood One audio,
this song originally was played before Rocket Queen.
    - This is freeware!
    - There are 3 versions from this promo vhs:
Version 1 = SA XP transfer with compressed vhs audio and wrong resolution video, this is circulating for many months
    Version 2 = +1% Sharpness (= this one!)
Version 3 = No Sharpness (to be released January 06 (Tuesday!!), 2015 on the gnr tracker)

    - Requests: 1985-1993 GN'R uncirculated video/audio + master/gen1 upgrades

    Happy Fuckin' New Year, Fuckers!!!

  10. Axl still has the main weight on his shoulder for breaking up what could have become the next Rolling Stones.
And before people argue that Slash left etc......you know pretty well that the no-re-union is ONLY because of Axl, it's only his decision fucking up all what could have been or still could be! That includes not giving the armee of classic GN'R fans what they would like to have, hear and see. i just hope he frequently recognises that WE made him his lifestyle he has in the 1st place, doubt he does though - as that could be too much for his shoulders.

  11. i think up to Farm Aid 1990 or maybe Rio91 there were more building the prime, and after the UYI releases they were more living off the prime.

I see your point. I'd put it a little later though around Izzy leaving. The whole Tracy and Roberty and Teddy Zig Zag etc. Those were the circus years, 1992 included. But I really think they got over that in 1993. The setlists were more interesting and the whole acoustic set thing was nice. To me, that was a nice bounce back from living off their prime.

yeah, this theory or better, this observation of mine ("up to Farm Aid 1990 or maybe Rio91 there were more building the prime, and after the UYI releases they were more living off the prime"), is more of a time corridor, not an exact date!

though i'd have to agree with 1991 Pre-UYI relase tour (= until 8/31/1991) being really kick-ass, it was becoming more of an Axl show already - also been shown with his dresses. but i did like all his stage diving and rants, his aggressivness in that tour a lot!! but it was some different with Matt and that ass kissing keyboard player on board already. so...maybe around 10/1989 with opening for the Stones and Axl/Izzy even playing with the Stones in 12/1989, they got "too famous" and had trouble handling all the fame and money. living in different houses, more drugs etc. didnt help aswell for the songs quality on UYI compared to Appetite. One of the last straw for Axl's ego probably was meeting Stephanie Seymour and all what became out of it and after their break-up.

so maybe the 01/1990 - 8/1991 era was some step in between the observation!?

i think up to Farm Aid 1990 or maybe Rio91 there were more building the prime, and after the UYI releases they were more living off the prime.

    [...]

    Too much too soon.

    that nails it!!
