HOF was about 1985-1993 GN'R, not about one single person but about a group of people who created AFD and UYI leading to be of the biggest bands in 1992. and those once were to be celebrated, not any hired follower afterwards. Axl didnt go because of his Slash psychosis and fucked it all up again.

yes, people, ^^THAT is the "Freezed"-version being a total 1:1 digital stream from high quality DVB-S in 16:9. this version is EXACT what has been on the only tv broadcast since. no re-encoding, no dropped frames, no "recording or authoring trouble" by Freezed or so. this is the best we could have from the broadcast. unless they re-air it in HD or so......this is the ultimate version.
add Maddy and OTGM from the fanfilmed angle and you have a sweet gig (without nearly all the boring solos/jams they did back then). -
that OTGM-version is incredible!!!!
too bad they did cut it out for the tv broadcast.
and no, that show was on german tv only once. in standard resolution (there is a perfect 1:1 DVB-S stream from it from a dude called "Freezed"), no HD broadcast back then. the audio is KILLER quality!!! -
Mickey Mouse ain't Axl to me, sorry!

Holy Grail for me as well.
But, it was never finished though, right? If so, probably zero chance that we'll one day get anything closely resembling what the original vision of it was - what with all the backstage stuff - which was no doubt fascinating, but probably doesn't paint the members in a light they would like today. Like, Axl's theme parties, and getting mixed up with the Sedona crowd and all that. Not that I actually know what was planned on being included, but I bet there's lots of footage at least alluding to all that stuff.
Man, there must be so much footage and goddammit it would be so cool to see it all.
And all those pro-shot shows too, just sitting there, somewhere, waiting to be remastered.
Question for anyone who might know: Would all of that stuff been shot on vhs (with high-end equipment obviously)? The Tokyo DVD wasn't shot on film, right? And if the same recording methods were used for all those UYI show, does that mean it was all done on VHS? Were there any other ways to record stuff back then?
And if it was all shot on video, would it degrade over time?
check LALD and Dead Horse official videos. they do have footage of many different UYI shows in them and those give you an inside look of the possible quality we "could have" from the 192 UYI live shows.

Overrated show. A lot of shows from 2006 are way better. Band and axl. But its a pro shot, so people just remember that perfomance
yes, there are some bad moments - but Rock Am Ring had a few killer sounding Axl vocals: Nightrain, IRS (2nd half), KOHD, OTGM, Madagascar. (the last ones not on Proshot though, but hell, please check OTGM vocals from this!!!)
also some pretty cool moments like being near full Proshot, fucking up Maddy and Patience and the 1st verse of Michelle, Baz on Michelle as 1st Proshot, very rockin' Axl performance of "Better", Axl running lots left/right, some few nice words in between the songs, show starting 1:47 am, very cold temperature (also to be seen at points when they're breathing and it looks a little like being Godzilla), very good audio quality.....so overall it was surely some special show for a fan.

right after the embarassing childish HOF bevaviour by Axl i immediately decided NOT to support him financially anymore when it comes to post Slash era. i sold my upcoming show ticket right after reading that crap. and i'm sticking to "my" Guns. if he makes peace with the old band in terms of releases, shows whatever i'm fine spending lots of cash, but i wont do it for Nu Guns anymore. ZERO CENTs for Axl!
-
but Axl still should have ears and a brain, right? does he even recognize how bad he sounds? i mean, this is a real issue! people come to hear him singing classic GN'R songs!!

Tacoma 2002 - Report.
Dizzy: "....it's the best band i've been in!"
and i'm hell sure he also said it 2006-2010 aswell. and now again. add his HOF interview a few weeks before the show "it will be great with all of us there!" (or similar)......and you know with what a whimp you're dealing with.eh....and right after his words you're hearing Mickey Axl
-
don't forget Axl left the GN'R partnership end 1995 just to start a new one on 01/01/1996 with "hired musicians" Duff and Slash....so Slash kinda never left the real band but was driven out!
Axl has some very big power ego-problems, not only the Slash man. -
Roberta is GN'R!!!!!

if they would cover "Double Talking Jive" with some 8min guitar solos by all 3 guitarists....that could turn out very cool!

the big problem i see with Axl's 2012 dvd is that it is being promoted like an release from the AFD line-up/era. it has titles, promotional videos with songs mainly from Appetite and not even 1 song after 1991! the dvd cover basically IS Appetite. and thats where the hyporcrisy sets in......"moving on"-crappy words by Axl but his Team Brazil is very fine with such a promotional AFD stunt! Axl doesn want to bury the old band but -more evil- cashes in with purely Appetite related art to make more money!
i guess his weak vocals will clearly turn off lots of casual fans and show watchers.
-
maybe its a good thing we wont see that vegas 2012 dvd with weak Axl vocals and tons of musicians covering the GN'R songs
-
I still don't understand how any of the original members can stop something that has nothing to do with them.
I mean Slash and Duff and others signed over the GNR name to Axl, so I don't get how they can get involved with any projects that don't involve them physically in any way.
I guess it's "rock music" politics. What shit.
just watch the DVD cover: it's purely Appetite!! noone in the current Axl line-up had anything to do with it! the promotion trailer had songs from 1987-1991 in it, the promotion for the shows and the setlist was mainly from the Appetite album. so much about "moving on", huh? Axl and TB are milking the old band without giving credits where it has to be. and thats why old band members have veto rights when it comes to crappy ambarassing marketing techniques like this!

"The Roots to Axl Rose and GN'R" or smth. like that would make it - similar to Hollywood Release CD which was given green light by the judge.

Axl doesnt care for fans wanting to hear/see old stuff being released, he actually doesnt want us to get anything out of the vaults. that puts him in some ugly position in the 1st place because of his own actions, him versus fans. thats unrespectful to his fans for the 80s/90s. so why should we care for him when it comes to old stuff WE would like to have? since his childish HOF behaviour (as latest) i dont do anymore! and as a fan of pre 1997 eras i'm grabbing ANYTHING coming to my radar, officially or not. Kevin worked so hard for "his rights", that i'm happy to buy multiple CDs and Tshirts as support. and i'm not only wanting to hear the vocals, i really wanna hear the music, too, as i liked the guitars and song structure snippets so far.
any by a sidenote i'd grab leaks only if Axl leaks stuff, too -
Axl wants us to forget his pre-CD times and line-ups but still is milking AFD allover: not only the name of the residency shows, more even the cover of the upcoming release is 99% AFD and there are only 1985-1991 songs in that poor Axl sounding 3:33min trailer......eh, totally lame!
-
does it matter?
Yes especially when it's another lame jab at Axl and GNR.
Huh? a GN'R founding member said it himself, dude! Blame Izzy for that, not the fans!
-
it's a "quote from the booklet"
it's paradox: scary on the one hand, funny on the other hand, that Izzy did ackknowledge it back then already. -
Yeah your right I mean why even employ venue security in the first place? What about axls body gaurd? Get rid of them. Then we can all run on stage and dance with Axl.
Come off it, that's brown-nosing if I ever saw it. The only person reacting irrationally is Fernando, everybody else is keeping it real - including the "problematic" Axl.The fact that Axl pushes him away would suggest to fernando that harm was intent. And he doesnt want Axl pissed off. The 'kid' knows he is wrong and fully expects an agressive response.
Bumblefoot's reaction is basically "What the absolute fuck?".
Its not fernando.. its just how anyone from side stage would act if there is an invasion of the stage. Watch slash at rome.
Or naked guy at rock in rio. Etc
The Rio2 dude on stage during Paradise wasnt naked. he just wanted to hug Axl when security jumped him ripping off his trousers. watch it slow motion and you can see he didnt have any intent to drop his shorts by himself. he even tries to pull it back to normal.

Izzy doesnt like spotlight and trouble. it's reported that he tried talking Axl into attending. after it was clear he didnt come, Izzy backed out aswell.
Not to cool neither, but Izzy already wasnt in the Dont Cry video, so we're kinda used to it for ages
