I don't believe most AC/DC fans are interested in hearing it, I don't think Angus would approach Axl again, and I don't think Axl can still do justice to the material.

Well we're not talking about AC/DC touring with Axl over Brian, we're talking about the repeat of 2016 where Brian for one reason or another has to step away.

Most AC/DC fans (using the example from above) would be interested in attending a gig with Axl on vocals, proven by the almost unanimous approval he received last time. That's not in question.

I think Angus absolutely would call if he was need for a singer. He has called many people with previous history of the band when he needed to fill a spot.

Do justice? not to 2016 levels, but he can definitely do a better job than Brian... not dragging Brian, but he doesn't have the range anymore. Axl could easily sing more than half of the set, he might struggle with those early belters but Axl is much better when he's singing in that higher range. He can still sing songs like Anything goes, reckless boys and while he might not have sang back in Black in 2022 as good as 2016, I think most would agree the version below is pretty damn good vocally. The change in his ability from 2022 to 2023 has been positive, so I don't think he'd be any worse if he sang this song next year. Finally, I don't think this is going to happen, but it is ridiculous of fans to say he can't do it. He ab-so-fucking-lutely could do it.

yeah, I know how Angus works, I meant more Brian and not someone from the rhythm section. If Brian wouldn't be able to do it, my opinion is that Angus won't go with Axl again or anyone else to replace Brian.

But why not? It wasn't unpopular, people generally gave it rave reviews. I think Angus was well aware of that.

Compare any 2016 video with any 2022 video of Axl singing Back In Black. He can't even do that one song anymore, but some people think he could do a full AC/DC show? Or a tour? Some of the delusions on here are hilarious :rofl-lol:

You would be a fool to think E could sound like 2016 IF he did it again. But I think Axl did a decent job on BIB on at least one of the attempts, can't recall where but I remember finding it last time people said he couldn't sign the song. With the right mentality Axl could get up there and do a good job. Does he have the same mentality he had in 2016? Doubtful but he also wouldn't want to get bad reviews while working with Angus... So I think he'd push himself. I mean the way he sings reckless life, Anything goes etc. is a perfect example of how he could handle most so g's in the AC/DC catalogue. Not all AC/DC is shoot to thrill, hell's bells and FTATR.

But (correct me if I'm wrong here) no shows were announced with Axl were they? It was always sold as AC/DC so people had their tickets.

A lot of shows, as I recall, didn't offer refunds so people went regardless. A lot of people went along anyway as they already had their tickets/plans and gave it a go. It went down better than expected.

It's a big difference though between getting people to keep hold of the tickets they've already bought and actually selling tickets to an AC/DC tour without Brian.

Well every show as I recall was optioned with a refund within a certain window🤔 I could be wrong.

As for the other point, I was just talking about Axl filling in like he did in 2016, but I do feel like if AC/DC had continued with the same line up they finished with in 2016 it would have been a vocal minority that was unhappy. You will never please all fans of any band at the end of the day. And plenty AC/DC fans are probably now saying Brian can't cut it, blah, blah, blah.

I hope to catch a show when the tour kicks off!

Very few people would pay to see it. The show I saw went from being sold out to two thirds full (at best) and that was with people who had already bought tickets. I picked up my tickets for virtually nothing.

AC/DC fans just aren't interested in it remotely.

That's one show, and a handful of others. The remainder of those shows sold out or sold very well.

To say AC/DC fans don't want to hear it is a stretch. Yes, 100% they want Brian on stage and Phil Rudd. But in their absence if they cannot perform, the fans are pretty happy with Axl in 2016 after they hearing him and after he brought back deep cuts and they were happy with Rudd's replacement in California.

If AC/DC went out on the road with Axl while Brian was capable of singing then almost no AC/DC fan would want to support them... But AC/DC would still sell a lot of tickets regardless. It's a different situation when the singer has to leave the band because he can't physically do it, and in that instance getting a top star to cover is more than acceptable.

Hoping that Brian gets his voice a bit more together and gives a decent show when they hit the road, so ACDC  can go out with a proper roar!

    Zero

I doubt that AC/DC will do a massive tour; I think 20-30 gigs around the world are realistic. But they will talk to Brian, about how many gigs he’ll be able to do. If he can’t do more than 10 gigs, they wont book more. Axl filled in in 2016 because the dates were already booked. Now they can plan and book the dates according to how many gigs they’re capable of.

Also while Axl/DC was awesome in 2016, Axl would never be able to reach that level again with the current state of his voice and I’m sure that angus is aware of that.

    Some chance.

There's every possibility that Brian says yes to a tour thinking he'll be fit to to do 10/30 shows... But in reality after a few he realises that he's struggling, then Angus and Brian decide they need someone to help out.

I hope Brian gets to play each and every show though. I wouldn't be too confident in anything beyond a very spaced out tour though.

I think with Axl at home, he will be an option that Angus has considered if the worst case scenario happens. Can Axl do it? Probably, but not with the same venom he did it in 2016 and probably not in the original keys.... But he was wrote off before and did that gig.

10% shot that he ends up filling in, so I don't think there's much chance but it's a valid possibility to raise

I believe that Axl's position in AC/DC was originally meant to be permanent, or at least they were interested in exploring it further, until Angus heard Axl's post 2016 voice. No way was he going to allow AC/DC to be humiliated like that. Nothing's changed.

You honestly think Angus was keeping tabs on Axls voice? Suppose he was on here following the gig threads 😄

Great point!  Sorum at least had that Nigel Olsson/human metronome thing going for him as a pretty unique attribute, and he was as powerful as a galloping horse when he was in his prime.  Frank is...a serviceable replacement.  Nothing wrong with making a living doing that.  Thousands do it.  I sure wish I could!

We all would! Who want a comfy job doing that you dreamed of as a kid? More power to Frank! ...but still sort out those fills in Don't cry and November Rain😄

    Id say the same except

    Josh > Brain = Adler > Sorum >>>>>>> Ferrer

Josh, Brain and Steve are 10/10. Sorum is 8/10. Ferrer is just terrible

Full respect to Josh, but he's ultimately a guy who recorded a bunch of demos. He never played live with the band and outside of oh my god didn't appear on anything official, he cannot be compared with people that actually played the back catalogue. We may as well include Dave Abruzzese in the list while we're at it.

As for best to worst... I don't know, certain things each drummer does are favourites of mine, including Frank. I don't see why it has to be a competition. But, Frank is not a terrible drummer or a terrible fit for gnr. People act like Brain was playing faithful versions of the old gnr songs, he was not he took equal liberties and sometimes it was really cool and other times it wasn't. I could say that about Matt too, or Steven. None of them are perfect drummers.

It would have been one thing if they only re-did the guitars, they reworked the entire song into trash, and mixed it as such. Lifeless drums, loud guitars. Just replacing Finck and Tommy and keeping the mix similar to the 2000 mix would have been acceptable.

Well that intro was surplus to requirements, so it did need to be adjusted. But agree that the finished product missed the mark on several fronts

Man, 2023 was looking really up for GNR, and now it's going downhill FAST.  Fernando getting hit with sexual harassment lawsuits,😐 I and many other Guns N'Roses Fans  think Fernando is a non issue and not a really big deal, so who cares if Fernando gets hit with sexual harassment lawsuits. 😐 I personally thought,"Axl isn't the one who is getting hit with the sexual harassment lawsuits, Thank God it's not Axl). AXL now getting hit with sexual harassment lawsuits 😮(Now AXL getting hit with sexual harassment lawsuits is a REALLY big issue and deal for me and MANY other Guns N'Roses Fans, this is really bad, this is a HUGE problem, 😱 and Frank Ferrer getting a divorce! So sad how 2023 seemed so VERY promising, good shows, multiple singles being released, and now THIS. How quickly a good year turns to shit.  😱

Thankfully every thought was put to text😄

  10. Heard about it a little after getting into gnr in 98 or 1999, would search for any info when I had internet access. Eventually I have up looking, then gnr reappeared in 2006 and from that lint forward I was pretty obsessed with the mythos of the record. Got the leaks etc.

When I heard it in full, I didn't really know what to think at first. I had to give it a few listens before I got into it. After a while it was on constant rotation. Never thought it was a perfect record, I could hear the over production, and some just not great songs... But overall I thought it was a really good record.

15yrs later, it's been at least a year since I played front to back but I regularly listen to a number of songs from it, some daily. I think it holds up. I don't think anybody that didn't like it for legitimate musical reasons will ever change their minds, but the people that hated it because of loyalties to the AFD/UYI era are probably experiencing the record in a new light since 2016. I think most would still rank it as the worst record, but for me it's as enjoyable as any of their albums... Better than AFD? no, but also a completely different approach. It's not better than any of the other records but it's also not the worst record in the catalogue...it holds its own and is certainly more exciting musically than the recent releases.

In 2 weeks nobody will remember this. Like nobody is talking about Benzova anymore.

You don't think that story isn't going to get more circulation now? I think the Kat story just grew wings... Could be wrong.

In general there's a week or two of bad press and then people move on. Axl is lucky people are so preoccupied with the Gaza crisis to really best him up.

  12. Being that Axl is known for his interest in BDSM, it might be easy for people to jump straight to guilty on this one.

Why did she wait so long? Any number of reasons. It's not black and white.

I mean, from the testimonials we've all read about Axl and women back in his hotel, they are always amazed by how quiet and considered he is, and how he just wants to talk all night... That's not to say he isn't capable of something like this. But it is also possible that they had consensual srx and Axl asked for s bit more, she agreed and sometime during this she decided she didn't like what was happening. Plenty of possibilities.

And for all those who said "what's the big deal nobody knows Fernando" well, somebody knew the Kat case was coming or came out and sure enough this appears. I have no doubt that the other women who posts on Facebook and YouTube about Axl abusing her when she was a teen will also come out of the woodwork. If Axl had came out and said "Gnr stand against all forms of abuse, we believe Kat and have decided to part with Fernando and TB as management for GNR" would this be more or less of a story. Now they have two cases on their hands, bad news for gnr.

You're conflating the two and also creating a false equivalency.

Russia absolutely interfered in the 2016 election.  That is true.  Democrats are not attempting to upend the election results because of it.  They, as a party, never contested the election results and never claimed that Trump wasn't the duly elected President.  It's possible to both say that Trump legitimately won in 2016 but Russian interfered on his behalf (but not at his behest, though he did ask them to hack Clinton's emails and release them).  This is a far cry from what Republicans did when Biden won in 2020.  Most Republican House members voted against certifying the election.  Had a Democrat (Pelosi) not been House Speaker we could have very well seen a constitutional crisis.  Most Republicans still will not acknowledge that Biden legitimately won.  Again, it's night and day.  To claim the two parties are similar on this matter is wrong.  Really wrong.

Except Biden faces a different reality than Trump.  First, Biden's effort to remove Title 42 that prevented migrants from applying for asylum was blocked down by the courts until this past summer.  Legally the Biden administration was denied from doing much as his executive orders were held up in courts.  Second, when they finally were able to end Title 42 it created a huge rush of migrants crossing into the border, beyond anything we had ever seen before.  Moreover it was beyond what border control could manage.  There have been far more people trying to enter the US in the last two to three years than at any point during the Trump presidency.  It's not even close:

    FT_23.01.09_BorderEncounters_1a.png

What would you have the Biden and the country to do at this point?  Do nothing?  That's a guarantee way to bring Republicans back into power.

You'll have to be more specific since you don't make clear what point of mine you're addressing.

Now, now Downzy, that's very shaky gound. Russia didn't win Trump's election for him, Hilary lost it fair and square because she illegally took classified documents out of the restricted area and someone hacked her computer, the suggestion was it was Russia (possibly legitimate), but of course they are the boogie man for all things USA. ...Taking classified documents🤔 did someone else do this recently😄

I agree, that it's not a complete equivalent to the riot and non conceding of victory, that's indefensible and I wasn't suggesting it was. But it has similarities, even if it was 100 times more peaceful and polite.

However, the knowingly false rhetoric she started planted a seed that stained the Trump adminstration (they needed no help) from day 1 and helped widen the gap between the general public. Sour grapes is an understatement. And she was no stranger to colluding. There are plenty of other leaked documents out there that discuss Clinton foundation funds paying people to enter Trump rallies (not the 2020 riots) and cause trouble. I mean neither side are saints. And we all know this is a common practice, again I'm not defending the actions of the 2020 election riot.

As for the migration stuff that's fair, it's just unfortunate that Biden used the wall and Trump's migrant handling as a club to beat him on that campaign trail, he seemed to think he could do it better and he hasn't for one reason or another. It's not always easy to get things done when you have opposing parties with more seats voting you down. Something that hinders most political parties, including the Republicans.

Look, I respect your opinion on this. You certainly know a lot and you're not afraid to find a good graph to send a point home😄. I concede certain points others not so much! 🤺 Thanks for the duel, I'm out!

I was just listening to “It’s so easy” live at the Marquee and can’t help to notice that I miss that sound. Steven’s drumming was so cool. The Punk sound. And Axl sounded so angry and pissed off. It’s a bad shame they’ve gotten so soft and woke in my opionion. I loved them more when they were the most dangerous band in the world. Can’t they start a riot again  somewhere?

It's certainly no bed of roses being a gnr fan.

When gnr release a country rock song, I will concede the Bon Jovi comparison.
