If I had to guess part of the issue will be that there's no existing set up or designated and qualified person to oversee this. There should be and that set up should already exist within the management of a band like GNR and should have existed for a number of years now.

Probably the reason Pink Floyd got to it quickly is because they have the set up in place already.

Also, the Pink Floyd pro shot catalog is absolutely teeny tiny, much to the dismay of their fans. Also their band isn't terribly managed.

This thread has been very entertaining, but I really don't get the logic behind this... customized children's books are a thing, like if he wanted to make a book for his daughter and niece then go right ahead. My aunt got me a customized book when I was a little kid and it was a sweet gift. But why the fuck is this a GNR release?

Also, who is actually buying this trash?

Huh? UYI got released and had a massive, years long tour to support it. So we do know how things turned out for that line up.

2 members were gone before the UYI albums released, although Izzy completed the entire recording process. Not saying Steven would've made a huge impact, but still, the UYI lineup, with Gilby and Matt, never wrote material together. The Appetite didn't get a full sophomore album (unless you count the material on Lies as 'new' because most people didn't have access to Live Like A suicide). My point simply is that every lineup had turmoil, almost no stability. I would love to see what each lineup would have produced if given the time and they could actually release something. I really think a follow up with the UYI lineup would've been great. NuGNR was together for a while, but never amounted to releases proportionate to that time together

  4. I really appreciate the great musicianship of the NuGNR lineups. Not that the UYI lineup didn't have that, the '93 shows really show how well they mastered those performances.

I honestly was so skeptical listening to the Nu lineup because Axl wasn't always consistent, and Ashba sucks, but Robin, Fortus, and Bumble really brought a lot of the old GN'R songs and gave them a great, modern twist. CD is a great album to perform live. Plus, they times that Axl is on fire, The Hammerstein show, immediately comes to mind; it blows my mind. I may be in the minority, but the '02 tour only has a couple decent performances; but 06-07, and 09-10 are sooooooooo good. Thanks to @RussTCB for pointing me to the 07 shows. We need more GN'R proshots damnit! They need to stream and upload some like Metallica has been

  5. Axl - probably the lyrics to NR

Slash - damn this is tough, probably Coma. Really builds the atmosphere that Axl is painting with his lyrics

Izzy - Dust N' Bones, hands down my favorite GN'R tune, live, the riffs, solos, lyrics. It's such a great tune that seems like one of the perfect amalgamations of the influences that drive this band

Duff - probably his riff on The Garden, soooo good.

Steven - Rocket Queen, no question

Matt Sorum - Locomotives drumming, probably really similar to the way Steven

Gilby - he jams really well with Slash on DTJ, and Wild Horses

Dizzy - not fucking up Estranged, decent playing on Move to the city

    Brain - drumming on Better

    Robin - TIL solo

Bumble - way he plays the ending ITW solo

Bucket - either the TWAT or acoustic ITW solos

  6. The newest version of the Xbox One will probably run you about 400 bucks, if you waited, like @downzy mentioned, y'all could get the next generation Xbox within this year. Also, wifi extenders may help. Or you could look at hardwire through your electrical sockets, or using a hardwire switch  that gives Ethernet throughout the house.

I had listened to the GnR Sirius radio a bit at the time of the Apollo show (I can't remember how I did that - if it was free, through VPN or if it was ripped and uploaded somewhere). As far as I can remember, there wasn't much of "hair bands" (if any at all). There was of Rolling Stones, Beatles, Queen, Zeppelin, Elton John, old Aerosmith, AC/DC and also The Stooges, Ramones, Sex Pistols etc.

A little closer to what I would hope. Hopefully it's not just Gimme Shelter and Bohemian Rhapsody. I swear, the Stones and Queen have a massive catalogue of great songs; and only about 3 or 4 songs get played. At least that's my experience.

I dig the hell out of Leon Bridges, especially his second album. I could take or leave most Post Malone songs but I thought this tribute was pretty cool.

Have you heard the new EP 'Texas Sun'? it's really good. Bridges is a great artist

  9. For those who want a cheaper, practical solution, modding an Ipod video, or buying a modded Ipod video from Ebay with expanded storage is an ace fix. No modern Ipod user interface, just plug in itunes with your library and go. The only downside is having to upload things in AIFF, rather than FLAC. Cuz... well Apple is dumb

I would love to go to Australia. It's one part of the world I don't know yet (and Africa), and I like to expect that I will someday after all this shit.

About Hardschool, you guys really have to put in perspective how Slash and Duff tone and feel (overall, the GNR sound) would totally change the song already. It's kinda hard to judge it by only a 20 year old demo that could be totally reworked in its structure. For what it is, the demo sounds awesome to me, I very much like the changes and Axl's performance.

Did Axl sing at all when they rehearsed hardschool? I didn't actually see the clip. I'm not sure which 'voice' he would use for that song. It is quite good, feels kinda like a UYI song almost. I'd love to hear them play it

Beato's stuff is excellent. Has just enough theory type chat for actual musicians but still very accessible for casual viewers.

That's what was interesting for me about his stuff. Binged a lot of it, probably 3 or 4 months ago. Was kinda curious why there were few GN'R mentions, but it's fairly obvious now. Surely thought You Could Be Mine would be featured on his, best of drum intros videos. Guess not. It is curious he says he'll get a copyright strike on his video, where he lists the top guitar riffs, just for playing SCOM's riff.. I thought all the strikes were just live performances. There's tonnnnnnnnnnns of videos regarding playing the music, i.e. people playing solos, songs, riffs, from the GN'R catalog, that haven't and probably wont get taken down. Is there a difference in the eyes of Youtube? I figured it was all Fair Use, but I guess not

Off the top of my head, I'd say look for something from the Japan shows in 07. Spoiler Alert: it's Robin, so they're all gonna sound slopy haha, but I honestly prefer his version of the solo.

From Better and This I Love, I never really figured Robin to be a sloppy player; I'm not too intimate with most of his involvement with the band. I couldn't even name most of his solos off of CD

I did a quick scrub through.

I wonder how Axl would sound if he weren't fat and he had a vocal coach.

The mid range razor is there. Chinese, Easy, etc. It's a bit of a side-mouth thing but it works.

Slash is dreadful. Off key, sloppy, no body to the sound. The Blue Haired Wonder is terrible.

Frank and Fortus carrying this operation on their back doe.

    More CD-era leaks, please.

I don't actually tend to notice Melissa, which means, in my opinion, she's doing her job of playing samples, synths, keys etc. Maybe I'm not listening to the right thing?

Fortus is quite great, love his playing. Hopefully he can have more leads on CD tracks. Slash's tone has been off for me since his Velvet Revolver days. UYI Slash sounds like an axe in the air that could cut a car in half. Frank's kit sounds off to me, if he went back to his older kit (if it's a different one from the 2010 tour) or just playing style from then, then I would love frank.

I think Axl could sound much better, but he can't salvage his mid-range. The stuff that screams Axl. My example is playing You're Crazy from the 2012 Chicago show. You know it's Axl signing, even with the terrible 2012 voice. Compare that to anything he sings today. It's just not there
