    In your opinion.

We're not dealing with facts here. I know it's clearly a difficult concept for you to grasp.

Out of interest, why does it seem to annoy you quite as much as it does when people say they like Silkworms? It's pretty strange.

Do you think Get In The Ring is cool too?

Do you get excited when the rap kicks in?

Do you chant along with the part that goes "I'd like to crush your head tight in my vice, PAIN!!!!"

Do your eyes bulge and your mouth froth as you scream PAIN!!! with so much passion, because it's just so cool?

Well, thanks for letting me know songs I don't like by RHCP are better than ones I do like by GNR.

There was I thinking I knew my own tastes. Shocked to hear I've been "just plain wrong" all this time.

I'm off to buy Californication and By The Way and throw away my copies of Hardskool and Chinese Democracy. I've seen the light!

Cute answer - but you're genuinely saying Silkworms is better than any \rhcp song, then expect to be called out on it.

It's worse than any Avril Levine song.

Do they really 'hate' new music from every other band? Personally I just think the RHCP are a load of shit, and think Absurd is better than anything they've ever done.

I know music is subjective, but this is just plain wrong.

I'm no fan of RHCP.  In fact, I say I'd dislike them, however hung round with people who listened to Californication and By The Way non stop, so I know those albums fairly well.  I'm not into either, but every song on both albums was better than Silkworms.  I'd say every one of them was better than Scraped too.

Most of them were better than Atlas Shrugged, Catcher, If the World and Riad too.

Pele, all due respect what would you say is worse - paying a small sum of money for two songs that someone likes to listen to, or GNR's lack of music living rent free in your head so much that you end up bugging even the people who agree with you because of the Groundhog's Day-esque sharing of the sentiment day after day.... that just at this point is more akin to a person wanting to hear themselves talk more than actually having something to say

    Paying money for Silkworms

Thats just YOUR opinion.  The single started at number 1 in the top 200.  How did absurd and HS do?  I think its a really good album.  We need to stop with all the excuses with GnR.  Bands write and release music.  They have used every excuse they can.  Yet, ALL other bands who WANT to release music do with ease.  Looking for to the new Def Lep album.  That probably wont be good enough for you either?

Exactly.  However bad RHCP and Def Lep records might be, they aren't going to be anywhere near as bad as Silkworms.

Confident if Avril Levine or Good Charlotte released an album tomorrow, there wouldn't be a song on either as bad as Silkworms.

    Classy as usual.

You might even be right about what you are always saying (I don't think that's the case, but who cares), but you say it with such an aura of superiority that its just plain pathetic. And, as someone who is a "gullible moron" that bought the record, don't tell me how to spend my money, it's mine and, as much as it pains you, some of us actually like the songs.

You elected to give the Rose/Lebeis family your hard earned money for "Silkworms" instead of buying something nice for your children or someone special to you - and you have the nerve to call me pathetic?

Slash has never claimed they will release newly written songs and he has never said they only have a couple songs to be released.

What is amusing is see you try to make Slash's statements of having worked on lots of songs to be released piecemeal and possible compiled into an album, fit with your belief that the band has nothing more than 2-3 songs with vocals.

Yet here we are.  They've released 2 songs so far......

  8. All this bullsh*t about "figuring out the best way to release an album", or "there is a pandemic going on" is just vague deflection tactics to hide the fact that there are no songs and is no album, and anyone with half a brain should see right through it.

It's been amusing to see Slash go from talking about a new album, to admitting there are no new songs, to admitting there are only a couple of songs, whilst certain people here STILL want to hang on to the fantasy that he's completed a load of songs based on comments his employees made 15 years ago.

They for sure had another album worth of completed material around the time CD came out.

Stuff has been worked on and added sense then.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had two albums worth of nearly complete, if not complete songs.

I'm not including songs Axl has completed or nearly completed that he never intends to release in any form, which I have reason to believe he has songs like this, some rougher than others. He could probably assemble an album worth of tracks he doesn't want the general public to hear.

At this point, with all due respect, I think you're absolutely insane.

You think there are TWO albums of complete songs - not including additional songs Rose has completed that he doesn't want us to hear?

Is that seriously what you're saying here?

There are 2-3 songs left from the 18-19 mediocre songs he's obsessed over for the last 25 years, and absolutely nothing else.

For the most part, not with his initial point of Axl’s lack of vocals beyond 1999. I think he realizes there were vocals recorded afterwards to complete CD and likely others on tracks that didn’t make it on CD. Obviously as well as other projects Axl worked on in this period not limited to Angel Down.

Having said that, I’m in the opinion that there is no CD2. I do believe that Axl may have attempted to add vocals to some of the more dare I say “ambitious” songs, but I feel ultimately he kept abandoning his ambitions in the hopes that “sometime in the future” he would be in the ability (both physical and mental) to lay down the correct caliber of vocals. I believe this has not yet happened.

I agree with this, and I've never said he didn't record post-99.  I just said there was very little post 99.

There is no CD2.  There was an ambition to complete Tonto, Soulmonster and Zodiac which I believe was never realized.

The next only remaining, usable songs are Perhaps, Atlas and possibly General.

Silkworms being the first single from the re-union lineup has to be one of the craziest things that could have happened.

    Nothing crazy about it.

They had 4-5 songs left, ranging from average to shit, with Silkworms being a bit 'weird'.

He went with the weird choice, as he had a ready made excuse when it was met with displeasure (which he used, night after night, whilst introducing it - it's just a joke, just a bit of fun etc etc)

At best, Axl said DJ could play whatever and record whatever, but then filtered his emails straight to the spam folder.

DJ probably submitted loads - Rose wouldn't have sang on any of it

The memory remains is supposedly about Axl . If you look at the lyrics I’d had some relevance.

I'd say The Memory Remains is definitely about Rose.

    Fortune, fame
    Mirror, vain
    Gone insane
    But the memory remains

    Heavy rings on fingers wave
    Another star denies the grave
See the nowhere crowd cry the nowhere tears of honor
    Like twisted vines that grow
    Hide and swallow mansions whole
Dim the light of an already faded prima donna

    Heavy rings hold cigarettes
Up to lips that time forgets
While the Hollywood sun sets behind your back
And can't the band play on?
Just listen, they play my song

I don't like this date. But there's something interesting...

IRS first leaked in 2005 on this very April Fools. It was a very shitty audio recording with different quality throughout because the person had caught the Eddie Trunk/Mike Piazza radio show on tape, but his cell phone could only record short 30s clips. So he recorded several clips and someone edited those together.

It was very, very rough. But I remember when I first listened. It was the first true studio recording from the CD sessions that since 1999's Oh My God. It was amazing. I can't tell how many times I listened to that thing even in this shitty quality.

    I remember it well.

I remember thinking how disappointingly mediocre it was as a song.

Alarms bells were ringing for me, as a picture was emerging about the quality of this album.  I liked Madagascar and The Blues.  Thought Chinese was very ordinary, and hated OMG, Riad and Silkworms.

Adding the mediocre IRS into the mix confirmed this album was going to be a million million miles away from the epic masterpiece we were hoping for (although it's not without it's moments).

why would you label the general as potentially unusable?  the song was done.  and songs like scraped, better's vocals, and the album version of shackler's are proof they worked on material after the village sessions.

I'm aware they worked on vocals 05-06.

It may be incomplete vocal like SOG - it might be finished and usable.

You're not right and you're not wrong. None of us knows, it's just guesses, hopes, believes, predictions.

Just chill a little, then everybody else will too.

    But for how long?

I've clearly stated they have the following usable, unreleased songs for a LONG time.

    • Silkworms
    • HardSkool
    • Atlas Shrugged
    • Perhaps
    • The General (may not even be 'usable')

Then Slash mentions a new album and they tell me I'm wrong.

Then Slash admits there are no new songs but there will be an album of leftovers and they tell me I'm wrong.

Then Slash admits that the only imminent release is 'a couple' of songs and they tell me I'm wrong.

According to some, they have years worth of unreleased, finished songs to work with.

They released 2 out of the 5 I said.

There is still absolutely no sign of these make-believe songs i've repeatedly said do not exist.

Why does everything always come back to the same batch of songs.

When the 'couple of songs' turn out to be Atlas and Perhaps, will people finally get it?

Pele, I'm actually with you in terms of what you believe will happen, I think that's way more likely than a different outcome.

You just annoy people with repeating it over and over again at every opportunity.

    Glad to hear it.

It get's repeated because people can't help telling me I'm wrong.

    Even when I'm right.

Nothing in particular because my happiness doesn't in anyway depend on whether a rock band releases music or not. Sure, if we never hear anything new from GN'R again, that would be disappointing as far as such things go, but it really is unimportant. On a ranking of bad things happening it will falls somewhat below when my football team loses an important match and when I wake up to a rainy day.

Cool.  You've spent about two years telling me I'm wrong (and continue to do so every time I post).

And when they do exactly what I've said all along, you won't care.

    Makes sense.

  18. 2 hours ago, Voodoochild said:

What if the band release an unknown track? I mean, we know that it would probably be from the previous lineups, but we didn't hear anything, not even the title. I think that would make it a bit more fair in the judgment not only around the fanbase, but also to the casuals. The headlines from the release would be different.

Of course the band will not do that, it would make too much sense.

Of course they won't do it.

That involves Rose using different lyrics and recording vocals.

They are just using what he's got at this point - which is 3 remaining complete songs.

  19. 11 hours ago, SoulMonster said:

What guys? The current lineup? Nope, don't believe that. I believe Slash and Duff have added tracks to older songs from previous lineups (as evidenced by Absurd and Hard Skool and by confirmation that they have worked on "lots" of songs).

I suppose it is easy to be perplexed and confused when you have such a loose grasp on reality.

No, I specifically mean it's utterly, utterly perplexing that you actually believe Axl Rose has written and recorded songs other than the ones we know, and that the band are actually about to release anything other than The General, Atlas Shrugged and Perhaps.

    Let's highlight it again.

You actually believe this band is going to release songs that aren't The General, Atlas Shrugged and Perhaps.
