  1. I like Dave Matthews Band, and will be seeing them this summer for the first time

Favorite song is either Two Step or #41

You're in for a treat. Songs of his that I'm not crazy about ironically wind up being the standouts for me at his shows. Love your 2 favorites but I don't think I could pick 2 unless I gave major thought to it.

  2. I partially got into teaching hoping to teach that book someday  I've never been able to choose between it or Catcher in the Rye as my favorite book, though.

Wow. You're so outrageous and original.

Because I enjoy two literary classics? Whatever you say, chump. Did you have anything meaningful to contribute to this thread or are you simply trolling for attention?

  3. Been looking forward to this for awhile; Sean Penn is easily my favorite actor.

I don't care about what kind of performance he gives, when I see Sean Penn's mopey face all I hear is him bitching about George Bush and be further up his own ass than Bono all while visiting Haiti 2 weeks late with a bulletproof vest on.

He's not bad in Mystic River. Good movie.

Carlito's Way, 21 Grams, At Close Range, Deadman Walking, and countless others as well ;)

  4. Thinking 'bout taking a teaching job in Qatar. Simultaneously excited, nervous, and scared about the idea, though.

That sounds like a good opportunity.

I'm returning to work tomorrow after a long-ass Christmas break.

I ended up wussing out

Started teaching Gatsby today. My favorite. :)

I did Gatsby in Year 12. Fuckin backward Australia.

I did it in Grade 12 here in Canada as well...and then again the following year for American Lit. in university

Anyways, I've been sick as a dog all this week. I love the kindergarteners, but the way they cough and sneeze on you if you let them or don't wash their hands after using the bathroom can be problematic.

  5. Finally saw Boyhood. It was OK. Kid was a mopey shit and the sister was the most unlikable character I've seen in a film this year. The liberal political stuff pissed me off, along with the Linklater character philosophising. Thought Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke were good in their roles, though.

I think the sister is Linklater's real life daughter. Not sure if she acted before this or since

She's appears briefly at the beginning of his film Waking Life

  6. It's laughable now to think about how the record company shelved the "Lillywhite Sessions" songs that eventually made it to "Busted Stuff". ESPECIALLY this one.

I saw the show a few days after Leroi passed in 2008 and they opened with it. Sometimes you can tell performers are going through the motions, but I could tell this was straight from the gut when they played it and even if you hear the song again, it'll never be the same.

That's awesome that you got to experience such a significant and emotional show, and I totally agree with you about the awesomeness of Busted Stuff. To me it's an infinitely better album than Everyday.

  7. Crash and Under the Table and Dreaming are their only albums I would call really good/borderline great.

Before These Crowded Streets took a long time to grow on me, but now I love it just as much, if not more, than those two albums. These 2 tracks are probably the standouts for me:

  8. Anybody else love Dave? The way he integrates violin, horns, and endless wind instruments into his sound is incredibly refreshing compared to the old and tired drums-bass-guitar setup that rock music traditionally offers. Here's a few vids' for those who've never properly explored his stuff:

  9. No, my point is S and M sizes for the teens at best :shrugs:

Funny that you people enjoy these much smaller sizes

I personally feel uncomfortable these sizes and i'm probably skinnier than all of you combined

A large size t- shirt is probably much more comfy, imo

There's nothing comfy about unnecessarily large shirts that often look like ridiculous cocktail dresses on people who generally prefer a small or medium.

  10. Tony Romo is the legit MVP and will never win it because all the haters, media included who have created and bought into the nonsense hyperbole that Romo sucks would have to eat way too much crow. Romo has the highest QBR on the season and is absolutely destroying every other QB in December so far. The Cowboys are 7-0 on the road and he has an 18/2, TD/INT ratio. If they win next week they will be 8-0 on the road. The other QB's who went 8-0 on the road in a season all won MVP. His TD/INT ratio on the season is 32/8. Only Rodgers is better in that department. he's got the best completion percentage in the league among starting QB's also. Romo is 11-3 on the season cause their loss against Arizona Weeden played. Romo has played with a broken back, had back surgery, has been playing with a broken rib. It's time people show this dude some respect and stop living off the botched snap vs Seattle in the playoffs.

Romo's numbers this December(crunch time) have put future HOFers to shame this year.

    Games - 3
    Wins - 3
    Comp % - 79%
    Yards 788
    TDs - 10
    INTs - 0
    QB rating - 134
Haters gone into hiding - MILLIONS
Take this guy off the Cowboys and they are absolutely fucked. MVP stands for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER for those who have forgotten. It's not only about the guy with the most passing yards.

This. All of this. Romo's toughness and heart cannot be questioned either. I've never seen a guy that lays it all on the line and plays hurt like he does. No-one else would play with a broken back / cracked rib / punctured lung / everything else that he has played through. He deserves a Super Bowl win before he's done. The guy owns just about every single Cowboys passing record. Let the man get his ring and then take his place in the Ring Of Honor at the stadium. If Romo gets a ring and has another season or two like this one, he's a legit HOF candidate. Easy.

Once again, Big Ben is putting up virtually the exact same stats and is playing with a vastly inferior defense:

    http://www.nfl.com/stats/headtohead?player1=ROM787981&player2=ROE750381&player3=null&player4=null&position=quarterback&playerOne=Tony+Romo&playerTwo=Ben+Roethlisberger&playerThree=&playerFour=

Romo's numbers last night are also quite pedestrian compared to the 6 TD 500+ yd clinic Ben put on against the Colts a few weeks ago. He's also never had a losing season (unlike Romo) and won 2 Super Bowls (unlike Romo).
