Sounds like Stone Temple Pilots in places. Still suffering from that grunge PTSD.

As long as you’re all happy with it being white.

It’s not like a new album would radically change the setlist anyway. Three songs per show for one tour at best. So if they put out another two songs two years after Absurd and Hardskool they’re kind of doing it right.
No one’s gonna be begging for deep cuts from the last Def Leppard, AC/DC or Bon Jovi albums if they tour this year.

Most of their peers were cancelled by grunge anyway.

I had this t-shirt. Wore it on a school trip once. Even cut the neck out like Axl did. The teachers never mentioned it but I do regularly cringe at my young self today.
And then there was the Get in the Ring Motherfucker one I wore around town…

Richie Sambora talking about a reunion again and that Jon Bon Jovi will have to get his voice back for it. Ah, no reunion, then. The current line up does all the good singing for him.

I put together a Foo Fighters Greatest Hits 2 when Taylor Hawkins died which I thought worked pretty well. Foo Fighters themselves just rehashed the previous Greatest Hits with a few alterations and called it Essential Foo Fighters which I thought only served to cannibalise sales of what was already out there.
For all its faults, GNR’s Greatest Hits contains Sweet Child O’ Mine and November Rain and that’s all the target market requires.

I actually like the second act. It still sounds like a solo record and not something that takes advantage of having Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha back in the band but it’s enjoyable. The Culling ends up becoming straight up Ghost.

Happy birthday. While we all lament the passing of time, Axl is still a 61-year-old force of nature.

You can see why he doesn’t do interviews or TV shows. There was some serious anxiety going on while he was speaking and he was pushing himself outside his comfort zone for a friend.

If I were TB and looking for special guests, my first phone call would be to Lana Del Rey. Other than Taylor Swift, she’d be the ultimate ‘STFU’ to anyone moaning about this year’s headliners.

I don’t expect an album but we can hope that they delayed the new (old) singles from last year that Slash brought up to coincide with Glastonbury for what will be probably be the biggest media exposure they’ve had since 2016.
So if we get nothing before June, I see no reason to carry on waiting for anything after.

McCartney was wasn't it? Friend came round to watch it.....was it on a slight delay?
I think it was about a half hour delay but he nailed it (as much as an 80 year old can nail Helter Skelter).
Edit: Actually, looking back, it was an hour delay. https://metro.co.uk/2022/06/25/glastonbury-bbc-on-why-paul-mccartneys-set-was-shown-an-hour-late-16892296/
We’re definitely getting a GNR delay. It wouldn’t be right to NOT find a way to leave everyone waiting an hour.

There is a chance they might not let it be televised. Rolling Stones said no initially then agreed to a few songs being shown after public/media pressure.
I’m pretty sure it won’t be live and/or complete. Macca wasn’t last year. It’ll probably be the same for Elton. These veterans don’t trust their voices to hold up and so if the option is there for Axl…
The Pyramid Stage isn’t the only one televised and they’ll be up against another big act on The Other Stage. We’ll get a decent chunk, though, and frankly it’s probably best for all of us that we don’t get it all.

These last three albums that have come out over a space of 15 years all bleed into one. He even rhymes suicide with cyanide and all I get is deja vu. At least they haven’t done The Unforgiven IV.
This is alright but who cares? They’ve become Iron Maiden and tracks from the previous album get swapped out of the setlist for slightly rewritten ones from the new one.

In the AFD days I was too young to see beyond Axl and Slash. I didn’t find out about Steven no longer being in the band until I saw the You Could Be Mine video on TV. Izzy came to the fore with his vocal duties on UYI but that didn’t last long. Duff effectively took over as one third of a trio during the UYI tour and for The Spaghetti Incident but of course that lacked anything in the way of songwriting.

Does this mean Axl has the password to the GNR Twitter account?

That's happening with every huge festival though.
Interesting. I don’t realise every huge festival had this amount of stages and acts.

Anyway, that page should also serve as an indicator that the GNR slot will be 9:30-11:45pm, which will make it and Hyde Park very different experiences. I’m assuming Hyde Park will be the more normal 7:30-10:30. Glastonbury would be my preference. You’ve really got to go with the pyro at Glastonbury too. Hopefully Team Brazil will have watched Paul McCartney doing Live and Let Die last year and know what is expected of a headliner.

Glastonbury isn’t so much a festival as a temporary city.

Been out the loop a few weeks, any updates on the heavily rumoured Glastonbury appearance?
Elton John is already confirmed and Arctic Monkeys are also heavily rumoured. All I’m confident of is that it won’t be those three. Even Arctic Monkeys are considered a veteran act to today’s audiences. There’ll be a more contemporary pop or rap headliner on one of the nights.

U2 dropping an album of 40 reimagined songs from their back catalogue to better reflect on where they’re at today.
Hopefully it catches on. Without new music this is the least GNR should be doing to carry on performing in their 60s and address Axl’s vocal issues.

I understand why Izzy thought he should be paid equally and the other three thought otherwise. They made him an offer and he refused.
I suppose you could argue that the moment they decided Izzy wasn’t worth the money was also the moment they decided we weren’t ever getting new music.

When people talk about Chinese Democracy leftovers, it’s worth remembering that November Rain was an Appetite for Destruction leftover. As far as I’m aware this band has never been about Axl, Slash and Duff (and Izzy) sitting around a table and writing a new album together so there’s no point in expecting that now.

Lizzo is ‘co-headliner’ on Saturday and Lana Del Rey is headlining the Other Stage. Life has been made difficult for them.
