It would be nice to get Izzy to do anything. He was quite prolific as a solo artist before the GNR reunion but has practically retired since.

With it being a festival, it might rule out Glastonbury. Even though the timing would match up, Glastonbury doesn’t like to share headliners.

Pearl Jam played twice last year with over a dozen unique support acts for each day.

They played this when supporting Bon Jovi at Wembley. The Bon Jovi fans loved it and there was nothing JBJ could do about it.

This is mainly about James Dean Bradfield being a lead singer who can do Slash things while singing.

Overall that’s the best I’ve heard Axl in 2022 and probably the best that can be expected from him over a three hour show now.

From what I can hear, Axl seems to be nailing Civil War.

In terms of it not charting, counting the reissue as three separate releases didn’t help. In the UK midweeks it had three entries in the top 100 but then fell away. Even so, Appetite and Greatest Hits still regularly feature in the UK chart but UYI never does.

By comparison, Queen’s The Miracle reissue is heading for the UK top ten this week. Superior bonus content for a lower price is doing the trick as always.

‘86-‘93 was a classic if cautionary rock n roll tale. GNR needed the UYI era and tour (as well as surviving grunge by refusing to bow to it) to secure its legendary status.

‘Hooray!’ almost falls into so bad it’s good territory. I can’t help but admire how it literally turns into clown music at the end but ultimately it’s just so bad.

The new November Rain sounds completely different (and a lot better) than the rest of UYI I.

It seemed inevitable given the upgraded quality of NR22 but that’s not to say it couldn’t have been avoided. As Duff would say, no fucks given.

Listening to Bad Obsession from Vegas on the deluxe edition makes it even more crazy that it’s not a current staple of the setlist. Okay, maybe lose the c word but it’s perfect for Axl’s current limitations and I’m pretty sure Slash would love it too.

Izzy is given short shrift in the photo sections but despite his massive contributions he never really wanted anything to do with the albums in the first place.

Glastonbury famously doesn’t pay as much as other major festivals. I’ll be surprised if Axl is bothered about taking a pay cut to play in front of a bunch of fake hippies.

For real. When I pass a fellow cyclist, I acknowledge them with a nod and maybe a hello. When I pass someone on an e-bike, I ignore them. It’s common cycling law in my area.

November Rain isn’t far off 2b views on YouTube. They could do a new 4k director’s cut or something for the 2022 version, but why bother? The only thing that can stop November Rain is itself.

Cool video. The audio might not be them at their absolute peak but the visuals are. We moan about Axl today but that version of him is why we’re still here trying to find glimpses of it.

I might be remembering wrong but one of the shows was put online with Axl’s IEM and Bumblefoot started playing the melody during one of his solos and Axl said from backstage ‘I heard that’ as if it was taboo.

It’s bound to be an emotional song for Axl.
