    Thanks!

One (of many) thoughts about this study; the People in the experiment group got information which also increased the social distancing, so is it that the mask in itself that lowered the transmission rate or was it the information mask wearing People got, which resulted in greater distancing?

But yeah, since the ones with surgical masks had significantly lower transmission rate than ones with cloth masks, apparently surgical masks work (to some extent) to lower the transmission rate. Ok. Obligatory mask wearing should then come with a disclaimer that only surgical masks are allowed?

(I know that everything regarding covid is a Touchy subject for a lot of people, but it isn't for me. Sorry if I'm percieved as a cynic- I am one, I'm only interested in facts and a somewhat rational discussion, especially regarding this virus. this since People are going bonkers)

I thought this was with the un vaccinated? Who the hell knows now?

I know that it's BS, can't trust anything where there's no transparency on data and how the study was conducted. Obviously the vaccines work.

If somebody doesn't want to get vaccinated, fine. But the decision should be based on facts. And then people can choose to whatever they want. It's sad that there's so much desinformation about this vaccine.

And; while I'm totally on your side regarding that it's a Good idea to get vaccinated I haven't seen any study that shows that masks (excluding the ones that essentially work as air cleaners and cost about $ 200) is really making a difference.

This is based on what? Couldn't find anything on ron johnsons Twitter regarding this (or any statistic to support it). Seems like anti-vax propaganda bs. I'd advise everybody to fact check everything be4 they take it as the truth.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. But I understand your point.

No one is going to try to guilt me into getting "the shot" There are doctors who have similar perspectives, so I'm not some outlier. It goes both ways too. In your driving example, we could require hans devices, roll cages, and helmets for all vehicles/occupants, that would no doubt reduce vehicular deaths, but life is all about balance. I suppose to you, I'm part of the balance.

I'm curious of why you're not getting the shot? Maybe you've already written about your reasons, in that case, I missed it.

And: if your government started to impose vaccine passes that makes it near impossible for you to lead a normal life, would you get the shot then?

No blame or pressure, I'm just curious about your reasoning.

    Sounds childish.

But I am sure there are anti-vaxxers saying he shouldn't get vaccinated, too, so why has he got more problem with smart people saying he should get vaccinated and not stupid people saying he shouldn't?  @Sweersa?

In behavioural psychology this behaviour is explained as "psychological reactance". Here's a short article that sums it up:

    Israel?

I'm just waiting for the day they go door to door and force vaccination. Let's get the party started. ;)

Israel has just over 61 % of the population vaccinated, and the last time I checked delta is the most prevalent (only?) variant there.
By the way, I'm sorry for my sarcastic remark (boo-hoo). I was in a bad mood. I get why people won't get vaccinated, because it has been politiziced. It's a shame, really. And people (some really active in this thread) are relying too much on media (mainstream aswell as "alternative") regarding this virus IMO. If you look at the facts:

    - it's extremely rare for children to get serious illness from Covid.

    - if we all can agree on what constitutes knowledge, (epistemology), viruses follows the law of evolution. Delta is the most prevalent because it's the most contagious variant, other variants (like "mu" has vaned everywhere where delta has come to party). Historically, viruses becomes less harmful over time. And to be fair; compared to some other viruses covid is fairly mild. We'll be FINE.

    - there's been NO studies showing that there exist a variant of CoVid capable of evading vaccines.

    - the studies I've read regarding the effect of using masks haven't really shown that they make much of a difference (of course they help in the individual case regards to sneezing and coughing). The study from Bangladesh that made people go crazy had a lot of spurious variables not taken in account.

    - if you want someone hesitant to get the vaccine, without directly or indirectly (covid passes), forcing them; Hysteria and aggression isn't the way. It's basic psychology, it will in most cases only end in that the person will get more hesitant. People, in general, want to make their OWN decisions, and not feel that they have others will imposed on them.

    - I've gotten the vaccine because I trust science, I've had a lot of stuff ingested in my body, with contents not known by me. Since both pfizer and moderna has been cleared on phase 3, there has been over three billion people vaccinated by now, a large majority of them without any major side effects I feel pretty confident that I will be fine.

    - By reading A LOT of peer-reviewed articles about the vaccines and the virus overall, I'm confident that the vaccine works. Unvaccinated people doesn't scare me. Remember that they're just people with a different opinion. I would like them to get vaccinated because I have a firm belief that the virus would be less of a problem if more people would do it, but really, what can you do? Everybody I know is vaccinated so I'm sure they'll be fine anyway (and their children isn't in any more danger to get severe illness from this than from other common illnesses, as the flu or the RS-virus), and I can't be bothered of what other peoples life choices may be. As long as I can do whatever I want (within the confinements of the law), and the people around me are healthy, I don't give a shit. If I would start to worry about people I don't know... Sheezh, I wouldn't be able to ever get some sleep, and it wouldn't make life better for the "unknowns" either. Pointless.

My car broke down on the way to work today. Damn unvaccinated people.

I got two work-related calls afterhours yesterday. Damn unvaccinated people.

Let's blame everything on unvaccinated people.

Obviously, the above are exaggerations, but who will people blame when most everyone is vaccinated, and still getting ravaged by some new variant?

Well, a scenario where vaccinated People gets ravaged by some new variant doesn't seem likely. Regarding the rest of your rant: "boo-hoo" 😭

I agree if anything this virus has shown how some people just care about themselves and don't care about anyone else. I'm not really surprised by this.

Even though the vaccine is available to 16 and over, many teens still aren't vaccinated. Their parents have to okay it and I guess they aren't vaccinated either.  It just boogles my mind about how many people just don't see the big picture.

covid hasn't slowed down any and more variants seem to be coming up. I for one am sick of it, but I sitll wear a mask and try to do stuff to stay safe especially since my daughter isn't vaccinated yet.

Mother nature knows just what to do to show how stupid and selfish many humans are.

We are one world and we all effect each other whether you believe it or not. I would hate to get a child infected. That should be a motivation to get vaccinated and do what's right.

It actually HAS slowed down, probably mainly b/c of vaccines and the fact that a lot of people already been infected. I understand that the situation in some states in the US are still problematic, though.

I for one am not worried about new variants. People listening to the actual and rational experts on the matter should'nt be. This is NOT the end of the world. There are a lot more serious matters that you could worry about.

I think Hard Skool lyrics are about Slash - and of course have nothing to do with school  They were seemingly written shortly after the breakup and the allusions to that are very obvious to me; it's like Axl's version about Slash's last days in GnR, as he expressed it in the forum chats, made into a song.

Absurd lyrics are totally unrelated to Slash, I think.

Just read the lyrics (never listen to lyrics while enjoying music) and yeah, I'm on board with this theory.

Just had a look at the Jackie Chan movie chronology and, if anyone is interested, the movie was most likely to be Mr Nice Guy, released in January '97.

Talking about Jackie Chan I just remembered this clip:

Easily worth five minutes of your time. He's kind of forgotten now, but he was (is?) completely fearless. Amazing stuff!

I think because since Axl called the Checkmate leak "Jackie Chan" in the forum chats and Duff in a interview around '96 mentioned they were working on a song for a Jackie Chan movie.  It could be, but it also could be two unrelated things as well, so it is hard to say unless a band member elaborates on it

Sounds plausible. It would be a weird coincidence otherwise.

  12. I like it!
Not a big fan of the echo on the "save what we had", it's an effect that's been used too many times by generic pop/rock-bands, so I could live without it. Love the slide guitar! Axls vox in the chorus is really classic aggressive Axl. Love it! Love the buildup to the last chorus because it's funny.
I think that rock radio will get this on hard rotation, sounds much more appealing to the casual listener than Absurd.

    Questions to more knowledgable people:
What parts are "new" compared with the demo?
Does anyone have a clue if this is a song from '96 or the chinese-era?
    Who wrote it?

I think it's stupid too. It's almost like people can't enjoy that type of stuff with actual people when they show them a funny video, which is probably the case for many, so I get the appeal of living vicariously through those videos, but I still find it odd, even being part of that world.

did the word "vicariously" enter your vocabulary as a result from hearing/watching axl's warren beatty-rant from paris '92? It did for me, my username as well, obviously :)

Absolutely. I used to watch him years ago and he would shit on Axl all the time. But I guess it's cool to like Guns again

I know, and then you hear his own versions of NR and paradise city and are just baffled how generic they sound when he sings them. It's funny considering he seems to think that he's a superior singer over Axl, even though he sounds just like every other rock cover band singer.
