maybe you can try to listen to Pablo Honey and The Bends, the first 2 Radiohead albums and then try again. (maybe In Rainbows) I think Radiohead is a love it or hate it type of band for a lot of people.

I think OK Computer is a masterpiece. Paranoid Android is a song no other band could have written imo, but maybe it's just not your thing.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give those albums a go and if they're not to my liking I'll surrender to the fact that Radiohead just isn't for me.

  2. Radiohead- OK Computer

I've never really paid attention to radiohead, but since this album has been given so much praise I listened to it from start to finish last week.

I was pretty disappointed as I didn't really care for it. Sounded pretty boring and uninspired. Am I missing something?

I thought that Final Fantasy XIII was the best game of the series. The whole trilogy (XIII, XIII-2, Lightning Returns) was awesome.

Really? I think you're in a minority there. I've never played any of those games (haven't actually played any since they introduced voice acting) but you're the first person I've seen not shitting all over FF XIII.

Did you play it on release or more recently? I spent fucking weeks until I finished it in the days before the internet.

I finished it around the time the snes classic mini came about so I had plenty of help from internet. There so many things that makes no sense towards the end with the traveling between the light and dark world. Must've been so frustrating w/o some guidance.

I think the plan is to keep control for as long as possible, get everyone fully vaccinated and then start opening the border.

Personally I want the border only partially open at first and think we should take advantage of our situation and poach people like doctors into moving here. When our borders are fully open there'll probably be an influx of people wanting to move here, which is another reason to open partially when we do because we don't have the infrastructure rn.

Why would there be an influx of People wanting to move to NZ?

  6. By the way. NZ is in another lockdown because of one (1) case. I know they've kept the virus at bay for the better part of this year, but bloody hell, they will have to isolate themselves from the rest of the world for years if they keep this up. Even if they vaccinate the entire population, they will get some breakthrough cases as soon as the borders open. What's the strategy?

I hear you an thanks for the kind words. Just want us all to be safe especially my ten year old daughter.  Bitching about wearing a mask is just too stupid and yet it continues.  And un vaccinated people who then tell you to get vaccinated after they get sick and take up an ICU bed that maybe another sick person needs.

Abbott is one stupid Gov and our kids are at risk because he won't say wear a mask for now.

Maroon 5 did a concert in Dallas last night. They added to their contract everyone had to prove they were fully vaccinated. If not, they had to take a quick covid test for $30 to be admitted. The news guy said 3 people tested positive and had to leave.

Now Dallas venues aren't happy about this, so not sure how long this will fly. Maroon 5 said they wanted their fans to be safe.

Of course, some people bitched about it saying it's their right not to get vaccinated. So damn sick of that shit.

I guess when I see GNR at another venue, I will see what their policy will be?

It's weird when people think they're making a political statement by not getting vaccinated. But again, (most) people are irrational.
"Reason is the slave of the passions".

I understand your concern for your daughter and I know you've probably heard this a 1 000 times before, but (by all accounts) if a 10 year old gets infected it's extremely unlikely for the child to get seriously ill.
I hope you will enjoy the GNR-show!

And all I hear now is another variant will be coming along and be worse than Delta, so what exactly are the scientists going to do about this? This virus has been one or more steps ahead of them from the beginning and doesn't seem to be slowing down one bit.

Yeah, even as the pandemic eventually fades out, it enabled the media for years to come to write about new variants/possible new pandemics to get clicks. Again, the vaccines work and we (as in we, humans) have a head start against any potentially more dangerous new variants as scientists are continously working on new vaccines, and evolution is at hand. As organisms main objective seems to be to live on, it's evolutionary interests doesn't lie in killing their hosts (this obviously doesn't seem to be the case with humans, as we're killing the planet, but viruses, as far as we know, doesn't have incitaments of monetary gain).
I know I sound like a broken record but I'm not worried about this virus going forward, the reasons for this is from the top of my head:
    1. Trusting science
    2. Looking at history
    3. Belief in evolution
    4. Knowing that nothing lasts forever.

Well, Dickerson from Iron Maiden has covid. Hope he'll be okay.

Also a member of the Wolfie Van Halen team has covid so they cancelled some GNR dates.

Yeah, he Will be ok. In an interview he said he just experienced a few days of the sniffles.

203 only represents the ones who tested positive. Let's not ignore the, likely 1000s (does covid still spread like wildfire? Delta is more contagious from what ive heard on the news) of, carriers that didn't bother getting testing because they either didn't want to, couldn't, or are asymptomatic. Let's just hope they all self-isolate for 10 days just in case.

And if they don't spread it, someone else Will. This virus obviously won't go away, so for how long do people want their lives to be compromised? Forever? It puzzles me.

The news is saying the lollopalooza concert was a super spreader? DUH.

I saw that crowd and no one had a mask on. And supposedly they were either vaccinated or tested negative.

This delta variant is a bitch.

    Stay safe people.

I just read the opposite. Out of 400 000 People attending there where around 400 who tested positive. Again, I recommend you to follow news outlets that's not playing on peoples fears for attention alternatively live your life without checking out the news everyday. It isn't a necessity for People to know things that doesn't affect us directly. It Will help you to relax and live your life, trust me.

Also; people have been dying in droves because of air pollution and viruses other than covid for decades. This is just another thing. The Good news is that it is highly unlikely that you Will get severely sick from the delta variant (as the other variants). If you're vaccinated and/or young and in Good health the probability is even lower. You should be more worried about getting cancer or getting hit by a car.

This virus won't go away. Let people live, because "if you can't live, why be alive?".

Edit: I was wrong, there where 203 persons out of 400 000 who tested positive after lollapalooza.

No. You don't get it kiddo, it's cut and pasted out of time. It sounds shit and detracts from the pulse of the music.

    Your comments are ridiculously dumb.

Judging by your comments you're probably a substandard musician too, like 'that guy' in many fledgling bands that just can't 'get it' with a difficult rythmn... and then gets angry and storms out. I bet that's you.

    Ouch.

It made me confused the first times I listened to it too. But I think Axl is Into those kind of things in music, small things that sounds "off". The industrial scene that he obviously is a fan of is full of them. Slagging each other off because you differ in your subjective taste in music seems pretty unnecessary, no?

  13. On vacation (and on a "mission" to catch up on all "classics" I haven't read yet), last week I plowed through: the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, to kill a mockingbird and oliver twist (I'm a fast reader). Of the three I enjoyed huckleberry the most, although I liked the bleakness of Oliver Twist. "Mockingbird" didn't hold up against those other two classics IMO.

Have you heard and seen some people who won't get the vaccine? No common sense at all. Every person with a brain has been saying this.  Common sense is very important in making life or death decisions.  If you don't use it, you're a moron. it can save your life.

You have to think about something to make a good decision and think it through about consequences and the outcome if you don't get the vaccine now.  One mother from Arkansas said her son has been running fevers for two weeks. She said she thinks he has the virus, but not sure? Hasn't taken him to a doctor yet. Asked if she would get the vaccine, she said no. Like I said no damn common sense. I think if a parent looses a child to this virus due to their stupidity of not getting vaccinated, they should get arrested fro endangering a minor.

I don't know what this has to do with what I posted, but I agree that it's a good idea to get the vaccine. Others obviously don't. Common sense should ideally be synonymous with rational behavior, but it's not, it's highly subjective why I argue that there is no such thing as "common sense".

People make decisions based on superstitions/religious interpretations and other irrational grounds daily. It's nothing new and there's always been consequences attached to that behavior. For both The ones making the decisions and others.

  15. Lots of talk about "common sense"... The worst thing about this virus are peoples reactions to it. Look at the low percentage of the ones infected seriously ill/dead. Look at the evolution of other coronaviruses AND that we have vaccines. Rely on scientists and not fearmongers. Calm the fuck down.

    Add me to the list

Me too. Really like the verse melody in hard skool. The rest is pretty bland. I feel the same way about absurd. Like the verses (don't care about the lyrics). I feel the same about a lot of the cd-material; strong verse melodies, the rest? Nah.
