  1. I said this in another thread but it got buried: however my point remains.

If you like or are a fan of any of these musicians, enjoy their solo projects during these time periods. This includes SMKC, Axl/DC, Walking Papers, Dizzy’s solo album (all 5 of you) and anything else. We will not be getting any new material from this band. Realize that it’s truly the solo albums or nothing from these people. Guns will not be releasing a new album in 2018. It will be radio silence in these upcoming months.

  2. For my band we have a basic set up of Singer (me), Guitarist, Bassist, and Drummer. As of a few months past our bassist has not really had a lot of interest in playing with us right now. He’s juggling a lot between a job and joining the military and can’t commit to our plans- no worries of course. To help our band move forward I’ve taken up duties on Bass and have been honest to god loving that more than I have for guitar (I have been playing for 3 years and lay down rythym tracks and riff around for our studio works). I don’t plan to play it live however- I plan for my bass contributions to be solely for studio and we would move forward with a touring bassist since as a frontman I’d like to be able to move around and devote my full attention to singing and interacting with the crowd.

I have found that my sudden interest in this instrument has reinvigorated my passion for writing and creating music and has brought me so much further into working with my lead guitarist and drummer than I have in the past. I never got that feeling as a rhythm guitarist. Has this ever happened to you with an instrument?

Well he was Axl's original and preferred drummer for Nu Guns and Axl wanted Brain to basically play Freese's work note for note.  Freese to me is the DNA of Chinese Democracy's drumming, even if Brain's playing and adding his own flair to it.

Very good point. It sucks his original drumming has pretty much been buried by Frank and Brain since but that is correct that Freese led the way for them in terms of Chinese. In terms of actual drumming, I feel like each got progressively worse- Freese was the best, Brain was slightly under Brain, and then Frank is just...eh.

Please let it just be this and DJ is just being a fuckin troll. Gotta be just that, doesn’t it?

Either that or a desperate ploy for some kind of publicity. Not a coincidence he posted it right after one of the biggest tours of a band he used to be part in ended. Say what you want about him but he’s a smart man in terms of marketing and publicity.

To be fair, he sounded pretty good on Better. What's the weird thing he does now on "now I know you better, now we all know better"? He's changed the way he sings it and it sounds... odd. Anyone else notice this?

I think it sounds awesome. It’s reminiscent of his Down on the Farm voice and is straight up badass.

I can tell that Brain was frequently off tempo in 2002 and had a shitty sounding set that sounded tinny and too tight. I don't get any of the complaints about Frank.

To me Frank’s drum set is on a weird tone and he chooses to play some of the songs differently than the way they were recorded such as Estranged, Brownstone, Rocket Queen, etc. That being said I don’t hate the guy as a drummer and I don’t knock anyone for preferring him but I personally don’t think he’s the best fit for the band and wish someone would take his spot.

  7. My opinion is Axl doesn’t really know what to do with the remix album. It wouldn’t fit under the genre of Guns N’ Roses and wouldn’t really make sense as an Axl Rose solo album either. I’m not sure a majority of fans are dying to hear remixed CD songs, including me, either so I’m not sure where this project may go. In that sense I’m glad Brain’s work is able to get some form of recognition by being played live.

Oh, a random dude at a gym doesn't like TIL when he's hearing it randomly for the first time ever while he's working out?

Look, I know that a lot of people don't like CD but that example is just humorous to me.

Of course they’re not going to want to work out with that song! It’s a great song but the furthest thing I’d want to hear while lifting weights :P

  9. It's a really hard choice but for me I have to pick the forum show. In 2009 I didn't really like all the band members solo spots and there were so many of those and jams that I feel it dragged down the quality of the show. I'd rather hear Slash's godfather solo, the KOHD and Rocket Queen jams rather than a Tommy Stinson song or a DJ Ashba solo spot with a bunch of average jams. I do agree with the arguments about Axl's voice but I still have to go with the LA show as Axl still sounded pretty damn good on 75% of the setlist. With the -'09 show you're missing songs from the '17 show such as Estranged, Civil War, Double Talking, and Coma.

It's definitely a hard decision. As a major fan of Chinese I do understand that they played 13 of the songs vs. 8 of the songs at the LA show but I still have to choose the LA show.
