They've got him at 300 million. Lars and Ringo at 350 million. Who knows how accurate they are.

I’m certain the metrics used to measure their net worth’s are highly inaccurate. I remember they Had Axl’s net worth at 150 million in 2007. U2 have some of the highest grossing tours of all time, but U2 has the highest production values in the industry so who knows what they take home.

True - just wondered if perhaps the promoters cut their losses? Wild speculation on my front really.

I'm still at a loss to explain why they booked stadiums 5/6 years into an ongoing tour that had seen them move down to Arenas. That decision always defied logic, in my humble opinion!

Baseball stadiums don’t hold the same amount of fans as football stadiums could be one reason. Maybe the promoters thought people would like to see GNR is a baseball stadium as a novelty of sorts. And then there was the Crue tour which was scheduled for baseball stadiums, so maybe other promoters thought it a good idea for GNR to go for it as well. Still, after years of the same tour and nothing new to promote it is an odd idea. I suppose the band knows time is not on their side and is milking it. I mean Axl is 60. I never thought Axl would be performing at 60. His style of singing and performance don’t match 60.

There is A LOT of stuff going on here! but I kinda like it in a kids samurai animated show vibe. That's the rocket queen up top right choking the serpentine? Reunion album cover🙏😉

I'd get this on a tshirt, but I wouldn't really be bothered with getting a print for my wall. Great to see some artwork including the full band though. Only critique is they should have used Axls soccer mom haircut.

Good catch on the rocket queen/serpentine image. That had my mind boggled. The representation of the band at the bottom looks stupid.

No worries - MetallicA and GNR are my two favourite bands. Check out that video above - a great rendition of the song Battery in general but Lars is ‘on point’ too. 👍

I really wish these two bands would tour one last time together. There will never be Rick bands like GNR and Metallica again.

As a big MetallicA fan I can say he is absolutely not one of the best ever. As noted above he was killer in the 80s and his playing was stellar on AJFA. After that the style of the band changed and so did his drumming….but when they went back to the faster stuff on Death Magnetic onwards the complexity just isn’t there now - I can’t say I have ever had an issue with his timing TBH.

That said - hearing some of his stuff just before the pandemic AND that live version of Battery recently showed he still has some skills…..

And finally…..he brings more to the table due to his songwriting etc too….

Thanks for the reply. I was very curious what a big Metallica fan would say.

It's not over til the fat lady sings. Once Axl dies things will pickup a bit of momentum cause TB will milk the vault.

I'll probably use the forum, at least a bit, for as long as downzy keeps it running.

By the time Axl dies the music in the vault and I don’t think there is much in the way of new music won’t be a hot commodity. Maybe akin to Led Zeppelin’s Coda. I just don’t see a huge demand for whatever is In the vault 20 years from now.

If There was an official announcement from Axl or the band that there will never be another album, would you still visit this forum frequently?
I find myself coming to this site probably weekly on the of chance there may be some sort of news or leak or interview I may have missed and I must admit being a member for so long I do enjoy talking to other members of the forum.
But Im just curious, as to what people visit this forum primarily for? Is it the friendships? The off chance something might drop? Both?

I would greatly reduce my trips here if there wasn’t going to be a new album. I think the iPhone makes it convenient to come here, too.

Yes. Once the local politicians here started guessing Chicago would be full capacity sometime in June, I couldn't wait any longer to repurchase GNR tickets for Wrigley Field. Call me a sucker. I admit I am one. And the concert could certainly still be rescheduled. But I wanted to jump while there was still prime spots available.

I probably will regret this, but I ended up getting row 3 behind pit rather than  GA pit. I always buy pit tickets for GNR, but I feel like I don't even have the concert stamina right now after a year of not attending. It'll likely be a hot and humid July day, and people will line up for pit around noon for 6 p.m. entry. And the traveling contingent of GNR fans will all probably have VIP early access to the pit too. I just didn't feel like dealing. I am gonna hang out at the bars, get polluted, and then pop in around 7 p.m. before GNR hit the stage. haha

I called Wrigley and was informed by multiple staff that as a disabled veteran I could purchase tickets in the ADA section in front of the PIT. I’m waiting to see how it plays out.

I wouldn't say there is an AFD sounding overall song on CD. I will say that Riad's 1st verse riff is very AFD. The overall song however is not. The chorus is great, but not AFD at all because its not just a basic power chord being played (before BBF played on it). 1st verse is cool. 2nd verse sounds not so good, and outro is just pretty much a jam with no structure.

IRS has a definite groove to it so id agree with it. Axls delivery is great. Id say that the Antiquiet version of the song with only Brain on drums is far sleazier than the album version bc Brain had an Adler esque simplicity on the part before the 1st solo.

As for the rest, no AFD-ness in sight bc they aren't typical blues based hard rock/rock n roll type songs most of AFD was.

Given my limited knowledge of the names for genres for the other guitar centric songs, with taking into account when they were written (not released):

    CD - 90s Alternative Rock

    Shacklers - Metal (Nu/Funk Metal/Heavy)

Better - unsure, i dont think its industrial or Nu enough to classify it as either. Groovy shit tho.. Ill say just Hard Rock

    Scraped - (Groove Metal/Heavy)

State of Grace - Industrial verses, but grunge like soundgarden-y chorus

Atlas Shrugged - Pearl Jam grunge

The other songs aren't seemingly guitar oriented so I won't include them (Including TWAT, which seems to be based on the piano progression being played, rather than the guitars)

Atlas sounds exactly like a Pearl Jam song off the album no code.

Vocalist and frontman are two different things, and the argument you've made here wasn't what Eggers said.

Patton is incredibly versatile and hard working. Axl "may" (other opinions are available) be the better/ bigger front man from the more famous brand / band, but it doesn't necessarily make him a better vocalist. There are tens of thousands of trained singers that could argue they are better vocalists than Axl or Mike Patton. However where Patton does excel Axl by some margin is his versatility, his musicality, his ability to reinvent himself, his amazing discography and his voice is still as strong as ever. Axl has pretty much always stuck to hard rock, and his voice isn't a patch on what it used to be. Patton performs with Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Tomahawk, Mondo Cane, Fantomas and much more... he has done everything from math rock to ambient and everything in between, has released multiple albums, and still has an excellent voice and incredible vocal control.

I appreciate the education of facts on Mike Patton. However,  Axl is vastly more talented than Mike Patton.

...but a bunch of folk who get together to make a couple of quid  singing their old songs now and again.  No reunion here but they are selling tickets and thats what matters I suppose.

I have been a fan for a year and been on the forum for the same amount of time,, the amount of posts have become a trickle, which is understanable as nothing happens,  and interestingly mostly men, just an observation.

You’re correct, it is mostly men. I never thought about it.

Sad how these days to hear "new" material, one has to rely on some fans rendition of the song, like in the case of Atlas Shrugged. I listened to that youtuber Aien's take on the song. I'm sure if I was able to hear Axl singing it, I would be very into it. Now it's just kind of meh... the name makes it sound epic, but until I hear the real version, I can only shrug my shoulders at that song. Dammit Axl! Put it out there, this is ridiculous!

The name does make it sound epic. I was extremely disappointed when I heard the song. It’s grown on me. But still nothing like I imagined.

I think you're being way too optimistic.  Each state has their own rules and mandates that can change at any time.  With Minnesota confirming postponement of an outdoor show I'm sure nothing has been announced yet because they're trying to reschedule the whole tour.  Way too much $$$ is at stake to risk cancellation of 1 show let alone multiple shows to Covid.

It would be awesome for GNR to be the first major band to play concerts in the US.
