I was at that Dublin 2006 gig, I managed to snag the red cup Axl drank out of just before Nov Rain. It sat on the piano and a kind security lady got it for me after the gig….

The majority of us were introduced to GnR via MTV.

They looked like a badass band in those early videos.

I saw them live twice in 1989.

Putting it bluntly…Duff was the fucking bass player.  5th on the list if you were into ranking.

Duff probably didn’t get as much credit back in the day as he should, but even then he was recognized as an essential part of GNRs sound. Yeah Slash’s intro to SCOM is iconic, but so is that melodic bass riff, that jumped out of the radio, the breakdown in jungle, the intro to Its so easy, there’s lots of brilliant bass playing on the early GnR records.

First I heard was on the radio, no fucking MTV where I grew up and thank fuck for it!

Back then for me it was hard to separate Axl/Slash/Izzy they all seemed vital to the band, Izzys credits were all over Appetite and Lies. In terms of dumb teenage cool he was number 1. A Shady, mysterious guy who looked like and was rumoured to have been a drug dealer. He seemed like the guy who seen it all did it all and kept it to himself. I was gutted when I heard he’d left.

  4. They should have formed a partnership for initial reunion run, loot split fairly with Izzy. Limit it to 50 shows or whatever and take it from there. If Izzy pulled out after 10 shows he knew the penalty going in whatever it was. I can see him committing to a year but not the extent to which it’s continued since 2016. I’m guessing a Sober Slash & Duff and on time Axl would have allayed 75% of Izzys fear of getting back with them. He’s played with them all over the years anyway.

He was an essential part of the success of the band, he was as important as Axl & Slash with providing music to the band. He needed their talent and they needed his songs and lyrics. He deserved a decent cut of the tour money & merch sales. A limited time partnership would have helped that.

  5. My father who has no belief in anything told me after his mother died he felt her lie in the bed beside him and rub his head. I called him a mommas boy and said don’t fucking come back rubbing my head…. But he’s the last guy you would ever think say something like that, he’s a tough guy with no belief in god. I’ve heard too many of those stories from people you would never expect it from for them not to be somewhat true. Maybe it is a thin veil after all.

  6. I think also people are shit at living with uncertainty. They like to have stories and data to back things up. Its ok we don’t know somethings until the next world. I read a lot bollocks in my teens, Pythagoras and the transmigration of the soul, that kinda rubbish and I came to the following conclusion after all my reading of that kinda bollocks: We are energy and energy never dies, it changes form, we live our lives and we were good or bad or both, but whatever accumulated  energy is in your body when you die is the energy source you return to. Plus Minus, positive negative. Some say heaven and hell. I don’t know. I read enough to say who fucking knows.

haha yeah, i think speaking in absolutes on this topic is problematic, except they are real and it's something. beyond that, nobody knows. anybody who says they know what they are, or what it is, is suspect. like religion. the only correct answer is idk. Whatever this is *points around* its magic. it's amazing. You start telling me about virgin mary and arks and shit, nah. nobody understands this, anybody who tells you they do is full of shit.

it's a big pile of who the fuck knows. we're all guessing.

I came to the conclusion long ago that we’re not supposed to know. The only people who know are the dead.

There's also the reverse of that, which really annoys me- people trying to put massive, justifying, pseudo- intellectual readings onto things they like in order to justify their own liking of it in the current climate.

You know what? Pretty Tied Up is about bondage, Back Off Bitch is about slagging off a woman he didn't like and the line 'turn around bitch I got a use for you' is about fucking.

It isn't some clever, artful, subtle, subversive moral commentary, with self-knowing subtexts, by carefully dissecting gender stereotyping and social roles:  it's nasty, filthy, dangerous, obnoxious, rock n roll, and it's what people lapped up in droves.

That's all it is. It's why people loved it.

"god created man to his image"

this is an obvious clue, that we were created, or altered, to resemble the alien race more closely.

people's skull is evolving more towards the characteristic "grey alien" head. Our foreheads are becoming longer, our chins smaller, our posture longer and thinner.

our soul is "software", downloaded to our bodies. our bodies act as temporary vessels to our soul, which goes back to the alien dimension after we die, full of experiences from earth. The soul is therefore, a means to download information, but also a means to upload new information.

Man I don’t know, I was joking with my post. It’s something I thought on acid back in the 90s.

I have just been observing the song I've been looking at deeper & given its lyrics, it seems to be talking how we humans who are becoming Global today should have no borders, no nations, just a diverse multicultural world where every single person once they grow up is free to pic their own partner to produce kids with, however they like it most & they are free to believe anything as long as they don't suppress other's rights & are tolerant of all human beings. This is why in the late 80s & early 90s people wondered if Guns N' Roses were sexist; with Slash they were given a pass for a racially diverse band but not a gender diverse band & the lyrics of songs, especially You Could Be Mine which talks about men impregnating women on the bed & just leaving them gave them a bad reputation. To be a cold heartbreaker, fit ta burn & rip a woman's heart out & leave her lying on the bed is indeed sexist & very weak. Axl didn't failed to have kids with Erin Everly, no wonder he was so angry at the world! He even wore a "Nobody Knows I'm A Lesbian" shirt.  But because women particularly made him angry he was a Narcissistic Sexist Male. I think that this event in one's life would break them, having lost so much hope to create a few humans to continue their family, their blood, their ways & that's why even multiple ways are now tolerated, as long as one finds that partner & creates those humans to continue their family cycle. I have sat up all night researching this & found this answer. Axl in his young years was simply a Narcissistic Male out of anger & teenagers thought that this was cool but it was only leading the teens in a bad direction, away from the Human production. Essentially the song says, if you are a human,  while you are young, find yourself a partner a produce your own unique family however you like.

    Ah it’s probably not.

so we all know UFOs are real, intelligently controlled, and not human, right?

At this point i feel that's like saying fire is hot, it's just obvious. Are they aliens from another planet? That's not clear. No idea what they are or where they are from, but it's a real thing and holy shit wtf amirite?

We’re all aliens. We’re just extensions of their intelligence, hive mind.

So, in the Riverport Concert, Axl spots a guy with a camera who was illegally filming. Axl told Security to take the camera, and they refused, so Axl dived off stage into the crowd like he was diving into a swimming pool! 🤣😏 And hit a Security Guard in his head as a "Wake up!" Command (Axl himself said something like,"I never hit the guy who had the camera. I just held on to him and wouldn't let go. Security were trying to get me to let go of the guy with the camera and I didn't want to let go. This camera guy and his Friends had been harassing me all throughout the show and the camera was the last straw. I slapped a Security Guard as a "Wake up!" Command)

Axl went back on stage and said,"Thanks to the lame ass Security, I'm going home!" And angrily slammed the mic on the floor and stormed off backstage. The crowd jeers and boos.

Slash says,"He just smashed the microphone, we're out of here!" He gave a "I'm sorry," gesture," and the show is cut early. A riot soon occurred.

Who do you think GNR should have supported? Axl, or their fans? 🤔 I honestly don't know what they should have done in this case. I mean, Axl is their Band Brother and just stormed off backstage angrily. Obviously, he's upset and they should comfort and support his angry ass,  but the Fans did pay to see him and then perform. It's honestly a very complicated situation. 🤔

If you’re ever in doubt about the answer to certain rock n roll questions always ask yourself “What would Lemmy or Johnny Ramone do”

    You do the fucking gig.
