My sister is one of the events managers. Meeting her there shortly so might get a chance for a wander round the VIP area. Will keep and eye out for lithos.

They played it at least once back in the day, I’m sure I recall a Aud recording of it kicking about.

  2. Who cares what some Journo says?
From the 60s onwards there’s been some good Music Journalists and the rest (majority) have been terrible. Take that into account and the topic being subjective let them say what they will. One or two dickhead reviews amidst mostly balanced reviews tells its own story.

People are allowed to not like GnR.

So what? But he's boring as hell. I'll take Axl's imperfections over the Liam Gallaghers of the world any time.

You can’t really compare the two. Liam Gallagher is and was a great singer but Oasis and GnR are different types of rock n roll bands. Axl’s of the howling screeching wailing school of frontmen. Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, Bon Scott those types of frontmen. Gallagher was never like that because Oasis were a very different band to GnR. His voice came from the Rotten, Slade, Lennon/Beatles school of frontmen.

I saw GnR in 92 & Oasis in 95 & 96. Both Axl and Liam were at their peaks in those years and they were equally brilliant. But different bands with different styles and songs just different vibes. It’s obvious which voice is easier to maintain as you get older so again no point in comparing them.

I thought GN’R were fabulous last night. Getting a good review at Glastonbury isn’t possible given the nature of British journalism/fandom. Getting slaughtered by the British public on Twitter is what it’s all about. It happens every, single year without fail. Doesn’t matter who you are. It’s what happens.

I thought Axl sounded excellent and the band were tight as hell. Best rock band ever.

    I don’t know that’s entirely true.

GnR got one or two shit reviews but the bulk of the reviews of them seemed positive. Rarely do bands get slated for their Glasto sets, it’s usually a place (as it was for GnR last night) where a crowd turns up wanting to hear the headline bands hits and have a good time. I can’t remember any headliner getting absolutely slated for their glasto set. There’s always shit talked prior to the set, like with Jay Z, Like with Metallica, Like with GNR, but I don’t recall any of them getting slated by all of the press for their actual set. GnR got a shitty review or two, that’s it, that’s the norm.

  5. I don’t have access to the BBC iPlayer, but is the GnR set on there and has the mix been fixed?

I used a link shared here to view the second half of the set and there was no mix issues at all, but people mentioned it here and a few mates who watched the BBC broadcast said the mix was kinda shitty, Axl dropping in and out, guitars too high… has the mix been sorted for the iPlayer upload?

Why would TB fuck it up?. They are the bands management team. They seem to be doing there job, even though many on this forum cannot seem understand the difference between a producer, a mixing or audio engineer,  a A & R representative or a booking agent. TB is none of those.

The bands management team have keep this band together since 2016 and the band environment seems happy, positive and healthy.

    That's a good thing...

Thank you bye take care of us and help us understand.

Because it’s not the usual GNR crowd. Most Brits don’t realise how Axl’s voice has changed. My impression talking to friends etc is that most don’t like his clean voice, never mind Micky with intermittent cracky rasp. I think it might get bad reviews. I think ther’ll be a lot of nasty comments about Axl’s voice. Could be embarrassing ☹️

Could also just be the truth….

Think the logic of releasing Perhaps at Glasto is a bit odd as festival sets, especially Glasto in the ‘Legends’ slot,  means you play your hits.

On a similar note, I remember George Michael getting a lot of flack at the opening ceremony of London 2012 because he played one of his newer songs instead of his classics!

GnR are headlining on the Saturday night, the legends slot is always on the Sunday during the afternoon. It looks like Blondie or Cat Stevens is in that slot this year going by the stage times.

Definitely a bit worried about Glastonbury pro-shot.

In an ideal world they would only air 10 best-picks. Even though he's sounding alright this tour, the voice won't translate well in about 70% of songs.

Fearful of the roasting they are going to get online.

Easy to say 'who cares' but nobody wants our favourite band to have their performance streamed to millions of people and for the reaction to be negative. Being from Ireland it's probably heightened as everyone I know will have it on TV.

    Tiocfaidh ár Axl.
