It's a cool spot too. Small, outside, like a big outdoor patio. The water will be in their background. It's for real the perfect place for a summer show.

You know, I have a feeling something special is going to happen to you at this show. Ok, I've had a few sangrias maybe, but still, I have a feeling.

Plus, we want video of you getting choked up at that song.

All in all, my stance is that women need to become stronger, both in character and physically. And men, need to be taught that they do not own other people, especially women.

This is a task for the mothers and fathers of today, raising little girls and little boys.

Could not agree more with this statement. This is what most definitely needs to happen. C'mon parents of the world!

  3. Also, kind of carrying on Alfierose's point,  I think we need to keep in mind that people deal with trauma in different ways...I think it is very telling that she talks about her experience in such detail..until we got to that story I was like, Whaaaa? But then when she told of her own violent experience it suddenly made sense. What she is doing is putting a different "narrative" to what happened to her..so that she could find a way to deal with it, and move on with her life. Some people use years and years of talk therapy to try and get over a bad experience..and relive it over and over. But what she has done, is take something that happened to her that was out of her control, and take control of the story.. spin it around, so that she could perhaps get rid of any debilitating emotional affects that could hinder her moving forward with her life in a positive way. People can become very adept that this, changing the narrative of something so that you don't have to think about it any more.  And who's to say which way is best for an individual? I think she has told herself this enough times, that she believes it, and is in her own way, trying to help someone move on as well. It's certainly radical, and maybe she shouldn't generalize and universalize this view, but maybe we shouldn't be so harsh in our judgements of her, especially in light of the fact that she herself went through it, and found a way to cope.

Heading out to Italy in a few weeks, I'm going to be a few km away from Firenze Rocks when GNR hits the stage. Won't be attending the show, but I might stalk Melissa for a bit

Cool! Florence is beautiful.. and if you're not gonna check out Axl here I guess the next best thing you should see is David.

  5. Coincidentally (or not) Fahrenheit 451 is playing on HBO - a novel from the 50's, a dystopian vision of a world where books and information are burned or altered so as not to offend a certain faction of society.. I can already see hints of this happening in certain statues and the like being removed from public places, so I really do hope that we don't, as a collective, start turning our eye towards art, information, history, culture, anything that was "of the times" in our past, and be so offended that we start to remove things from public access because we are using a modern perspective to judge what were different norms of society at the time. We are always evolving, but we mustn't be so "offended" at everything that came before..it all led us to where we are now.

Happy May 2-4 to all the Canadians!

Yay, happy May 2-4! You know, I didn't realize our American friends didn't know what this expression meant, they have never used it! I guess I just assumed everyone did

I am a little loathe to admit I don't even have my bbq ready yet..and I only just cut the grass for the first time this year today! So it's been more of a "holy shit I've got all this yardwork and stuff to do in one day" as opposed to relaxing with bbq and drinks  Well, I did have one lemon shandy, very tasty! What about you Soon?

  7. Aw c'mon, lets give the guy a chance..he has some pretty big shoes to fill, I don't think any of us would really be happy with whomever he chose!

And I'm quite sure those things were said to generate publicity, get people talking, and check them out.

Besides that, Steven is probably ecstatic that he said those things, that his frontman is showing him 100% support.

    I'm rooting for Constantine

Constantine has a good voice, he just doesn't know how to use it properly to sing GN'R songs without sounding like an amateur or a hair band singer. Most of AFD songs are dark, sinister, give a dangerous vibe but he makes them sound like Poison's Unskinny Pop

He can't help it, that's what made him popular on American Idol..that and gazing soulfully into the camera ..and he's been doing musical theatre productions, which are also over-the top, over-acting type of ventures.. he will lose some of that moving forward..hopefully lol.

  9. Re: Lord of the Flies..I highly highly doubt girls would react in the same way as boys in this situation. Yes, there would be divisions drawn and cliques formed, bc girls can be mean, but in general, females are much more willing to work co-operatively for the greater good, and that would eventually win out. There is no way they would descend into the savagery that the boys did. So I don't see how the story using girls, could possibly be the same story..it would have to be marketed as an adaptation of sorts.

Theres some speculation based off of unverified FB page that he was inspired by the California rampage guy from 2014 who was distraught about being involuntarily celibate.

My initial fear, because of the method he used, was that he was an Islamic terrorist...I am beyond relieved for all of us that it wasn't.

But this, above..what in the hell? So there are "support groups" on the internet for these guys who call themselves "incels" who are so angry at women for not having sex with them (I guess they feel they are "owed" that for some reason) that they all want revenge on these women and the men who DO get to have sex? Oh my God. This is crazy and scary. More hatred incited through social media. I really hope these platforms can be shut down.

What is going wrong with our society? Something needs to change.

  11. I am so f*cking livid at this. Shit like this better not be starting here. Whoever it was, it was obviously deliberate. My best friend lives around the corner and walks that route every.single.day. with her young daughter.

You now have to worry about walking the streets of Toronto??? No. Just no.

I should point out, just in case my plethora of Italio-American stereotype gags puts out the impression I'm Italianphobe much like Kurt, that Italy is basically my favourite country in the world. History and architecture (they rather have too much of the stuff!). Greatest food. Best looking women. Crazy people (they're nuts, aren't they, the Italians?). My top three regions of cinema (up there with the Japanese). Great music, founders of opera, Verdi, Puccini. Fashion also (I have an Italian style suit). I would say cars if I cared about cars but I do not give a toos - I heard they're decent at football also which I equally do not care about.

If you've never been to Italy I urge people to go. The best thing is to simply ''people watch'', watch the Italians being Italians. It is hilarious. Street theatre.

And I should also point out, just in case it didn't translate, that I was also making fun of my own Canadian stereotype.
