  1. slash will be the enemy of every GNR forum if this isn't true :P

nah, Merck still holds that title from last year...

Haha, very true. Slash still has a long way to go to take Merck's title of being the enemy of the forum.

  2. No.Not everybody hates it because I for one find it enjoyable. Not all of it,that is true but not all of the 80s rock is enjoyable either.I for one like a couple of new rock bands and I think they are great. These bands are not neutral, they are into something you are not, just because they are different from what you like and dislike doesn't mean they are neutral. When you sing you say something,it's impossible to be neutral when you sing something and express what you think and feel...of course if you don't pay for other people to write your music but my bands to which I listen are not doing that.Like I said...it's O.K. not to like something...just don't say it sucks. We all know it leads us to nothing but trouble.

    i never said it sucked.

i just said some bands sucked shit and some are ok.

there are a few good modern rock songs out there.

all i was pointing out was that it was boring as hell in comparison to other genres of metal and rock.

i mean theres probably a few fine bands out there but there hasnt been one band that was like freakin awesome and sensational and whatnot since nirvana.

after them and gnr died its been boring.

i mean sure theres a few good albums youd have probably bought after 1999 but its just like, "i feel like listening to this"

there hasnt been many bands you could really get into since nirvana.

that was my main message i guess

Paragraphs are your new best friends. Anyways, Nirvana wasn't sensational. They were far from it, I'm sorry. I know a lot of people like Nirvana, and this is my opinion really, but they were pretty crappy.

Of course, any rock album today will be modern sounding. That's just how it is. If a band tries to produce a record to sound like the 80s, then that's pretty pathetic. It's just that in the 80s, there were different kinds of rock that a lot of people could enjoy. Now, it's just one bland genre with hopes that VR will save the day with Slash. Too many bands sounding the same. Not one definitive band, who anyone can say, leads the genre to new paths. Will GN'R bring this back with CD? No, they won't. However, maybe they will turn heads and show that Green Day is no longer the best band on the planet. The sad thing is, people actually believe that shit, too.

  3. in my opinion slash would be the last one who would know if it was coming out in march or whenever.unless others got the news about it and slash got told as for slash knowing release date that just does not seem right to me.i smell a rat and i am not getting my hopes up until i hear it from axl himself

Slash wouldn't be the last to know. Obviously people believe Slash is a credible source since it seems to be spreading as a March rumour already. Still stinks to me, but I guess we'll see.

  4. 20 years too late, no one cares anymore :sleeper:

Yeah, 20 years later and where are we? We have bands who don't even give meaning to their guitars, where they have screaming fans wearing mascara and slitting their wrists. Music is absolute nonsense today, and it would be a great thing for any classic bands to reunite. Maybe you don't care, but I bet these old rockers could put out an album after 20 years that would still make any band sound like complete trash more than they already do.

Sorry, I know people care more about this than a lot of music these days because the modern music scene is a disgrace.

 No i'd rather to listern to the new music scene, sure the mainstream sucks, but it always has.

Theres plenty of great music out there, stop being a snob.

Yeah, I'm definitely a snob. There's more demand for any old bands to reunite than other silly bands to put out another 6-month effort for cash. In an age where tedious beats and people who can't write lyrics get recognized for their brilliant efforts is sickening. Like the new music scene all you want, I don't care. And I know there is plenty of music out there, but is any of it really unique anymore? In each decade up until now, there has been at least one musical name that everyone could recognize as a breakthrough artist, and not just someone who has won a lot of grammies. Where is that artist now? 50 Cent? Green Day? Give me a break. Artists who use the piano to whine instead of jam on it and create a buzz. Artists use the guitar to rip people's heads off instead of putting emotion into it. Debate and call me a snob all you want, but bands long ago actually made music to feel good and to express themselves. Not give in to the attitudes of the crowds and majority. How many artists today complain about politics? Way too many, even though they have no clue as to what they are talking about. I know, not all artists are just whiners. Some do actually try and what happens to them? They're left on the shelf because they don't try to grab the audience with current trends and it's a damn shame. Any artist who doesn't whine about their pathetic life or talk about the loads of money they make, who can actually put out decent music is no longer around.

Take a look at punk music today. It used to be about rebellion, just like a lot of other genres, and what is it now? Whiny teens who don't like being grounded or having their allowance taken away. Rap is the exact same, except they whine that the millions they make isn't enough to stuff in their pants. Music isn't music today. It's shifted from little money to huge money. Who are the snobs now? New artists who can't deal with making real music. Listen to what you want, but you'll get bored eventually. And if you're trying to tell me that looking for plenty of music out there means I have to find Finnish underground bands, then make a better argument.

  5. For the first time in a long time Slash sounded intimidated by the "New GnR'." Almost like he listened to CD and realised that Axl has still got it. Maybe Slash has lost his passion with VR?

    Keep on wishing.

I could really care less for Slash. Personally, I think he's a no good, drug addict, piece of shit. Yeah, he can play the axe really well, but so can Carlos Santana. When Slash left GnR' (because that's what he did) he made the biggest career mistake of his life. He might not know that now, but he will.

When did being successful become a career mistake??

You consider leaving a band like GnR', then end up releasing a couple of albums that failed, and then being a guitarist for the Scott Weiland band success?

Yea, and Axl has done so much in the last DECADE.

True, Axl hasn't done much. Neither has anyone else really. Finally, after many attempts to regain some kind of glory, Slash has gained some from VR. However, that took a long time and they're only now working on a 2nd album. VR pretty much put Slash and Duff on the map again. As for Axl, he hasn't released anything, yet he's still on the map. People want to hear what he can do, no matter how long it takes him. Each member from GN'R hasn't really come up with anything in the last decade. Even if you like the Snakepit, was that really a booming comeback for Slash? No.

If you think about it, each GN'R member is slowly being recognized again, whether it be Slash and Duff in VR, or Axl for the anticipation of the album after many years. Just think about what you would do if you were in the biggest band in the world and then parted ways. Would you be a huge success going solo right after, or would it take some time to get back into the swing of things? If it takes a decade, then I'd say that's a damn good effort by everyone who used to be in GN'R to pick up their balls and try releasing breakthrough albums. VR has somewhat done it, although their debut was shaky at best. And Axl.. well, he's trying to make the best album of his career. These guys deserve credit, even if it has taken them a decade to put anything back out there.

  6. Rock was pretty mainstream in the '70s. It dominated before disco came around later in the decade. I don't see what it matters, though, really. The term doesn't even make sense to me. All I know is that Led Zeppelin was a popular band that received a lot of attention in the '70s.

I wouldn't say rock was mainstream throughout the whole '70s decade. I think from '75 and into the '80s rock received much more attention.

  7. 20 years too late, no one cares anymore :sleeper:

Yeah, 20 years later and where are we? We have bands who don't even give meaning to their guitars, where they have screaming fans wearing mascara and slitting their wrists. Music is absolute nonsense today, and it would be a great thing for any classic bands to reunite. Maybe you don't care, but I bet these old rockers could put out an album after 20 years that would still make any band sound like complete trash more than they already do.

Sorry, I know people care more about this than a lot of music these days because the modern music scene is a disgrace.

  8. <_< Another one of these posts?

Yeah really. Sigh, "Will Axl Rose ever learn?" That's your question? This gets tiring. The fact that you judge a celebrity's entire lifestyle because there aren't many pictures of him going around is astonishing. So, since he hasn't released CD, he is pretty much a hermit to you? He's afraid of society? How the shit do you know that? Let the man do what he wants. You're not his psychiatrist, so quit babbling about someone you know dick all about.

  9. We all know that there's a greater chance of pigs flying outside the window -- than there is of Axl calling up Slash on the phone to tell him the album release date first. So I started to wonder - why would Slash make this comment during the interview?

When I listened to the interview again, I realized Slash quickly followed the CD release date with a comment that VR's album would be coming out around the same time. Does anyone think that maybe Slash was challenging Axl to release it in March so that it would come out around the same time as VR's second album - and the two albums could then go head-to-head with each other on the charts? If this happened - do you think the two albums would sell the same? Or do you think one would totally outsell the other and "prove" GNR needs/doesn't need the original members?

    Your thoughts?

    No.

  10. htgth.com

    Mysteron:

Considering it's Jan, with no announcement immediately forthcoming in the next couple of weeks, I think you can discount March as an active option

So, apparently Mysteron knows the future and when an actual announcement will be made. Ahh, that's nice to know. Not. It's like a 7 year old saying, "I know something you don't know," and then taunting people about it. Later on, that 7 year old becomes a dislikable loner.

You know, some of these responses from people who claim they know stuff just keep getting dumber and dumber. Yes, let's all discount March as an active option, considering it's not even our choice as to when the album will actually be out. Hell, let's discount May and June too since we have the powers to do that. I guess every tard that thinks they know something has to take a Merck mentality, just so we have no idea what in the blue hell they are talking about.

  11. wow some has-been schlock rocker has bought a car, our lives will change forever. how many decades is it so far that hes been attempting to make music without slash. should call the album mission impossible not chinese demockery

    STFU-Yoda.jpg

Gin, your opinions on here are so rehashed. Sigh, Chinese Demockery. Old as the fucking hills. Move on dude.

Secondly, to be the geek for a moment, Yoda doesn't talk like that. He would say, "Shut the fuck up, you should." Those pictures are dumb.

As for the Axl sighting, it just proves he's alive. That's it. At least he's alive. No need to speculate on this for 20 pages people.

  12. I find this whole thread pretty funny.

I mean, the only person who would know the release date for sure would be Axl. And does anybody really believe he'd pick up the phone and give the good news to Slash first? :rofl-lol:

However, if the rest of the article is real, then I have to say I like the attitude change Slash has made toward Axl. Rekindles thoughts of the "R" word ... rr... rrrr... reUNION.

Yeah, it is nice to laugh at these rumours. However, I'd rather hear a new name with these rumours (Slash) than hearing the same old shit from people who claim they know, but aren't saying anything. The fact that people are embracing this rumour just goes to show that everyone who has said "soon" from the GN'R camp in the past, have absolutely no credibility now.

  13. I hate to be the old misery but...

Did you actually hear SLASH say these things, or was this the Radio guy talking about what Slash had said earlier on? If it was, take it all with a pinch of salt.

If it was Slash saying it, then fantastic, I'm glad Slash has no bad vibes against Axl!

Jonas did say that Slash sounded really sure about what he was saying. So, it seems like he heard Slash.

  14. about a half hour ago I was listening to WMMR Philly Radio. Slash did a pretty kool interview live because VR are doing AC tonight.

Slash says he can't wait to hear Axl's new record in March. The host says.. wait so Chinese Democracy is coming out in March?

Slash says the album is done & that he has been told many things over time, but this really sounds like it's coming out in March. He sounded really sure so I thought that I would share that at least.

Another highlight was that he doesnt blame Axl at all for the Vegas "red flags" for him not being able to attend. He said he doesn't think Axl had anything to do with "instagating" that & that it had to do with his Manager.

He also said the whole "feud" thing between him & Axl is just media hype & people just talking it up & said there is really no bad blood between them. & said he hasnt talked to him in 10 years. Also called the media sad for saying false things with the plastic surgury, pluggs stuff etc etc.

Take it for... well you know. sounded convincing though so i'm simply passing on. -BP

    ------

from CD.com. i dunno, just passin it on.

Smells like shit to me. But thanks anyways.

  15. MY GUESS IS SIMPLE

APRIL 2006 CHINESE DEMOCRACY IS RELEASED.

If you think, the record company was about to release something this month(double disc), but it didn't happen,..., why???, because CD is ready. It's the same logic that happened when GH was released, with the difference that now we will have CD.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think you're right. But April? I don't think it will be that soon I'm afraid. Plus, I don't think CD is quite ready yet, but if Fortus is entering the studio to finish it up, then it should almost be ready. My prediction is that we'll see rumours of GN'R playing at the Super Bowl and every other major event until the album is actually released, which it should be in 2006. No question about that. Axl pretty much has one year left. At least for the people who still want the album.

  16. By-Tor and the Snow Dog by Rush - The solo after the silent part of that song is just breathtaking and very underrated.

Tornado of Souls by Megadeth - Most likely one of the most underrated solos of heavy metal.

Let It Be by The Beatles - A very simple solo but very effective and I never hear anything about it. Very underrated.

Hey You by Pink Floyd - Another simple solo, but incredible. It's also underrated like the others.

Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin - A very long solo but it really puts you into the song. Very underrated. If you're looking for a break from the Stairway solo, get into this one.

As someone said before, A lot of Blackmore's playing from Deep Purple is overlooked and very underrated. I don't see the Child in Time solo getting recognized very much and that has to be one of the best solos ever. Also, a ton of songs by Rush and guitar work by Lifeson is overlooked. It's unfortunate that a lot of Rush's work is underrated. I don't want them to be hyped, but they should receive more recognition for their work.

  17. Boo bloody hoo.   <_<

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Get the fuck out. People aren't crying because they're wussies or something. They are honouring the memories of one of the greatest songwriters in history. What have you done lately of importance? Nice job losing every tiny bit of your dignity. You're a disgrace.

R.I.P John Lennon - A true legend of music and a soul that will always live on through his brilliant songwriting.

  18. There are 2 unreleased videos, live videos from GNR.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door (Freddy Mercury tribute) and Civil War (From Tokyo)

At least some tv channels like MTV showed these 2 videos.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The performance of Civil War in Tokyo was incredible, and still is today. It is extremely enjoyable.

  19. I think rock will make a come back cause people are realizing how rap sounds like shit Hell there's even a new BLACK ROCK BAND (not a racist) they're called EL PUS ( www.elpus.com) Listen to theyre sample songs theyre not that great but they might have a lot of potential!

No, true Rock will never make a comeback because people believe that playing guitar consists of power chords only. That is not rock. Any three year old could play power chords on a guitar and it doesn't mean shit. When was the last true great guitar solo that made a song a classic? I haven't heard one in a long time and God forbid someone could actually play a decent chord progression in a song instead of just trying to rip the strings off. Rock is a sham today and so is music. There are a few good bands around but nothing spectacular. Don't tell me that VR is the groundbreaking rock band out there either, because they sound like everyone else. It's extremely sad when bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Hoobastank, etc. are considered rocky bands. It makes me gag. Rock will never be back unless you truly believe that underground bands will come to the mainstream. It's not going to happen.

  20. Well you all have intriguing lists and I'm glad to see Mr. Page getting recognition as well as the boys from Maiden, but I must throw in B.B. King. I'm not a huge fan of his music, but he is damn good on that guitar of his. That's just one name, that I believe, deserves mentioning.
