  1. JohnUlmer nailed it. Axl used the hair metal popularity to make himself be heard, and AFD became a massive success. However, Axl has always wanted to take a musical direction of his own, which showed up on the Illusions. To this day, Axl still wants to put out an album of his direction and that's probably what we're going to get on CD. I know people worry about rap or bloated love songs flooding the album, and I'm not one who believes that Axl can do no wrong, but I still think he'll pour whatever he has left into this album/albums. He wants to show that he has a creative mind like the artists he grew up listening to.

Sly, you made some good points. However, I disagree with the little bit on IRS. Granted, those aren't his best lyrics, but on the other leaks, the lyrics are really well done. Same with OMG. This is my opinion, but his lyrics really do shine through on the music for me. IRS does seem more like a 3-minute+ rocker, but the other songs have sensational lyrics. I haven't heard lyrics like those from a rock band in quite some time.

  2. Why do you feel the need to post the same crap over and over again? You're almost as bad as original gunner. You've said this all before and we all know how you feel about this subject. I'm not sure why you feel the need to repeat the same poorly written drivel again and again. It's really becoming tiresome and it's long past due for madison to put a stop to this.

    You need some new material.

i got some new material for you

WHY DO PEOPLE BITCH ABOUT GNR KEEPING THIER NAME WHEN KING CRIMSON, PINK FLOYD, MEGADETH, THE YARDBIRDS, LA GUNS ALL KEPT THIER NAMES,WHAT MAKES GNR ANY DIFFERENT

The thing about those bands is that the fanbase was extremely loyal no matter what the band did, as long as at least one member stayed. Megadeth, for example, was always the brainchild of Dave Mustaine. He has stayed with it and changed the lineup a few times. People still love the band because Dave has kept it going. Guns N' Roses on the other hand, has a torn fanbase, because everyone loves a different member of the original band. Not everyone loves Axl Rose. That's why I love fanbases such as Pink Floyd's or Megadeth's. Always positive about the band. This place seems like it has civil issues.

  3. Oh no, Axl hangs out with people. Let's run to the hills. I bet he wrote TWAT and The Blues about Lindsay too. It's all making sense. In fact, since Axl wrote those songs such a long time ago, he predicted in the future that he'd be dating a pop star in her teens and also knew it would upset people on a Guns N' Roses forum.

That's how stupid this thread is.

  4. Haha. You people really think that after one failed tour without an album that Axl would just repeat that and wait another ten years? Give me a break. Axl may have fucked up in 2002, but he isn't going to do it again. Secondly, fans in 91 may not have been waiting for a decade for another album, but considering an album like Appetite had just been released, I think anyone could have waited 10 years after that was released. Quit bitching and look at these tour dates as a positive thing.

  5. OG: owned. Go away. Never come back. We hate you, and your stupid cupcake topics.

Kicking the habit: I have yet to see you make a positive post regarding Axl or the new lineup. Clearly, you aren't a fan of this band and you are trolling. Please have some respect and go back to the VR board where you belong. And please learn the definition of a paragraph.

LOL This kid is so LAME! He talks about cupcakes yet spends all his time policing this forum to diss others that don't wanna be in his Axl Ass-kissers brigade. So tell us please, why are YOU all over my topics like a rash adding to the already 8 PAGES of great discussion in one day, when you could simply skip over them and go post some more links to Robin Finck clips that you and your buddies can purr over like kittens around a bowl of milk?

And WHY is it you resort to personal attacks rather than stay on topic about GUN'N'ROSES like the rest of us true fans? Maybe it's YOU who needs to go away and never come back... OWNED!!!! rock3

Yes, let's all love "GUN'N'ROSES"

P.S. Saying "Owned" on a message forum doesn't make you look cool. Just a heads up.

Unfortunately, Kicking the habit thinks he knows true Rock N' Roll, which he doesn't, and none of us do. One thing everyone should know is that controversial frontmen (such as Axl Rose) are just as big a trend as anything in Rock. Not every band has a controversial frontman, but all the good ones have frontmen who stand out. Axl definitely stands out, does he not?

  7. Now back on topic... the original Crue will apparently be playing with Axl's PuppetShow at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland. I'm thinking Crue will blow them away. Comments? ..

You're behind the times dude. The Crue has already issued a statement saying they won't be there.

It's a shame you don't spend more time researching your information - and less time acting like an internet cupcake on a GNR fan forum.

    Check and mate.

  8. this is a stupid question.

I agree with you 100% on that one Dory ;)

Yeah - stupid enough to get seven pages of mostly great replies in two days suckers. Hey - and thanks for dropping by. :rofl-lol:

Yeah, 7 pages of great replies. That doesn't make the question great. It's still a stupid question.

  9. 1)why did you put the Nirvana song in the title???

Because it's a cool ass title and it relates to what the music biz will hope it gets from Axl's puppets so it's easier for them to promote and sell. Welcome to the Jungle baby...

2)stop living in the past, the old members quit the band and aren't coming back.

There are plenty of examples of bands who had bigger fallings out than G'n'R who still got back together. Example:- I noticed the Cult are currently touring again, and Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury actually had a fist fight on stage years back that signalled the end of the band. Now they are back on the road!

There's more likelyhood of the new band failing or imploding than the original Gunners not getting it back together at some point in time. Stranger things have happened. In the end the fans usually get what they want and any one who desn't want the original band over this new lot is NOT a true guns 'n' roses fan. :fuckyou:

Listen, you don't get to dictate who may or may not be a "true" Guns N' Roses fan. You just don't. Are you some kind of music police who will arrest people if they like one more than the other? We have to like things because you choose to like them that way? That's pathetic and sad. You don't choose for anybody. Do you even understand that people have tastes of their own? No, you don't. Get a clue.

The Cult and GN'R, if you may have realized, aren't the same bands. Plenty of bands can get back together after a few tiffs, but GN'R are still having legal issues to this day, with another thing called Velvet Revolver getting in the way aswell. Moreover, I don't remember The Cult being the biggest band in the world at one point. This isn't a perfect world, and it certainly isn't fair, but if you really can't get past the fact that the band members have moved on, and have to tell others which band they prefer, then you have some issues you need to get settled.

  10. Thinking about the Chinese Democracy record IF it gets released this year... here are my predictions rock1

Initially, upon it's release Chinese Democracy will go straight to number one in America on hype and curiosity alone... and then drop like a stone. This is a common occurence with established rock bands such as Pantera, Aerosmith and Metallica. I cannot see an AFD type thing where it takes a year to break and then keep selling b/c the fanbase is already established, although much diminished over the past decade. One or two hit singles might give it some legs, but the press will be all over the record unless it's an absolute masterpiece, which we all know it won't be, and this will impact on sales. Not too mention a lot of u fuckers will probably download it illegally online anyway b/c that's the 'cool thing' to do. :rofl-lol:

I predict the final sales figures after a year will max at about 2 million, maybe 3 if it gets decent reviews/airplay/word of mouth. Not bad you might say. BUT considering the UYI albums did 6 million each in 1995 (currently 9 million plus now each) and AFD did 6 million in 1988 (currently 16 million plus now) this will not be classed as a successful comeback. Which means BRING back the original members motherfuckers! rock1

    DISCUSS................. :P

"Otherwise, you'll be sitting in your trailer park at 35 thinking about the girl you lost at 25 saying 'now where did I go wrong?'" - W. Axl Rose, 07.22.92

That's you, bud. Come join is in the now.

At least DX is thinking properly. Thanks Original Gunner for your attempt at trying to figure out the sales of an album. However you missed one thing: You have no fucking clue. Comparing it to the sales of any other album on this planet is not an option. Your whole opinion is retarded and backwards. You say that the new album, if released, will not sell like the old albums, yet you want the old members to come back. Another retard who believes that image makes music/sales of music. Sorry, but if Axl's new music is something people really want to listen to, then that is what will sell it. If Axl and Slash put out a shitty ass record, it wouldn't sell as well because even though the image is there, the music sucks. Yeah, I know what you're saying, "How could Axl and Slash and other original members put out a crappy album? I love them soo much, and I love kissing their badasses." Well, it could happen.

Bringing original members back wouldn't change the album, so the music would stay the same. You think the original guys will come back and Axl would scrap this album completely to go on another 80s trip? You need to wake up and smell modern times pal. This isn't fucking 1987. Get off of it already, because you obviously have no clue of what the music industry is about. Maybe you should discuss something worthwhile, instead of vomiting this trash over and over.

  11. :sleeper: With a name like 'Original Gunner', I can just see your threads being not biased at all. Oh sorry, that was sarcasm. If you want to lick the ass of the old band, there are nice little things called CDs that they made in the past. Many years ago. Sorry you don't like the new songs after exploring them with your "open mind" enough to realize that these guys aren't, in fact, the old band. You probably listened to the songs once and immediately shit on them because it didn't sound like the good ol' 80s rock that the old Guns put out. Last time I checked, this wasn't the same line-up. Why do people trick themselves into believing that they want an older sound, when they know it's a new line-up with a frontman who actually has a musical direction?

If you pay attention at all, you'd see that this line-up has already sold out shows, years after not appearing in public. Don't play the fucking "people don't know this line-up has changed" bullshit. People know this isn't the same band. How? They recognize another certain band named Velvet Revolver, which has 3 of the original members. People can see these things, ya know. They aren't dumbasses. Guns N' Roses will sell tickets because people want to see Axl, and whatever the fuck he is going to do next. Sure, if Slash was there, it would bring one hell of a show. But who is to say that Axl still can't put on something great? Give it a rest already.

  12. Meh, Scott's just a whiner and a wuss. He knows that VR would be nothing without Slash. In fact, everyone knows that. On the other hand, Axl can hire a bunch of musicians and still produce more hype than a band that has already released a popular debut album. I'm not going to get up into Axl's ass, but whether or not he has released any albums, he still has had way more success than Scott. Cripes, even the demos of new songs caused a huge uproar. If VR let some demos leak, people would get excited, but they would not produce the same impact at all. Scott should realize that his drugs can no longer talk for him.

  13. "I am by nature a perfectionist, and I seem to have trouble allowing anything to go through in a half-perfect condition. So if I made any mistake it was in working too hard and in doing too much of it with my own hands."

-- Howard Hughes describing his way of working and the mistakes made in building the "Spruce Goose."

Axl Rose is the Howard Hughes of the music industry . Do you think that CD will suffer the same fate as the Spruce Goose????

These 2 projects mirror each other in so many ways. I hope CD has a better outcome.

It will. Sometimes another word for perfectionist is "pain in the ass"

    That's four words ;)
