those numbers on CD are from the people who were curious and wanted to support axl's solo effort, once the initial interest past and once people actually heard the record it died, no one cared, axl was forced to watch slash, duff and Matt win a Grammy with a real band.
ive said many times on this forum I like and support Richard and think there's a future where he becomes a member writing and performing with gnr. I often say I hope he gets the chance Gilby never got if izzy can't be there.
but until then Richard is just a dude filling in for izzy, playing izzy's parts that izzy wrote.
agree to disagree, I am excited for the apollo show and hope you are too.
Grammys don't mean shit.

Nothing wrong with that Jungle, sounds great.

It's the biggest pressing issue at the moment...I knew this day was coming and Sirius is going to portray Axl's vocals in a slightly better way than YouTube does, so if he sings like he is currently then this will be a disaster
Im sure he'll step it up a gear. I know he hasn't for pro shots before the reunion but the last time he was under pressure so to speak was for AC/DC and he knocked it out of the park. Plus the Coachella pro shot sounds awesome, even November Rain is good and that is usually a weak song for him.

I told all you praising Axl's magical concert voice that he better be ready for something live that will be broadcast...I hope to god he gets this right!
If it's just AFD the only songs I'm concerned about are SCOM and PC.
Oh well this will be fun! I'm excited for the guys and I'm sure it will be great
I can't remember the last time you posted something that didn't involve some mention of Axl's voice. You're worse than me haha.

If it's the AFD anniversary, playing AFD from front to back would be the best bet...same thing Metallica did a few years back in their anniversary show.
You're Crazy is on AFD.

Cool. Hope they play You're Crazy, that kills in small venues, absolutely filthy song.

Not the best quality but...
1:48 *coughing*bullshit*
4:37 running with rasp
That tune at the end 5:13...
can't wait for my next show
Probably the best Patience in years. Even the "Woah, I need you" parts were great.

Great performance, you can see Axl looking at the chaos of the crowd at the end haha. It was just after this where he stops the beginning of DTJ to tell the crowd to step back. I didn't hear it all though because the stream was buffering and shit but it seemed to be similar to what he says on Live Era after Mr. Brownstone.

Dodgy quack rasp with Ashba's presence compared with God-like Civil War? You need to elaborate lol.

Lol! I also spent my Saturday getting pissed watching Ward-Kovalev II. Albeit not with Tom Jones, but still.

I don't believe that anymore... the ACDC gig ended his voice. Everytime he even tries a higher note with rasp, this strange shit happens

If the AC/DC shows "ended his voice" you would have noticed it during the AC/DC tour. But listen to Philly. The last AC/DC show was one of the strongest. You don't know what you're talking about. Please don't chat nonesense.
Why can't people separate. Just because Axl isn't putting as much effort into live performances 70 shows into a tour, doesn't mean he's "lost his voice" that opinion is quite literally "fake news." (I hate the phrase but it's actually relevant to this topic.)
Glottal compression only occurs correctly if you warm up before a show. He's obviously not doing that anymore.

Friday's was "London! Please welcome a band that needs no introduction, but fucking gets one anyway. From Hollywood, Guns N' Roses!"

Can anyone tell me what that instrumental song is they played before November Rain?
The first one with Slash and Richard Fortus's guitar duet is Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Then when Axl gets on the piano he plays the ending of Layla by Derek and the Dominos with the rest of the band.

When he takes off his sunglasses at the end and finishes the last few lines like it's no big deal is my favorite part
Legendary performance. If they do a live album this version of Coma HAS to be included. Both Axl and Slash were near perfect. I actually prefer it to the studio recording. The world needs to hear this, it's an absolute doubter silencer.

Jesus! You must be broke now haha. There's definitely no excuse for not getting a new album now. You've just funded about 2 months of studio time with the amount of stuff you've bought. I very nearly got the litho but caved and settled for the tee. Looks cool as fuck though.

True at the end of the day it can't get worse than Appetite for Democracy.
We are getting Dodger Stadium which shouldn't be too bad of a pro shot!
Axl has had many chances to perform on a big stage with nugnr and his record for coming out with more isn't very good! Hope that changes
It could very well be that they already have the footage for whatever live release they're planning on. So now there's no real need for him to go all out on every single show. Maybe the NA leg was so good simply because Axl knew he was being filmed? Same thing with AC/DC. He knew millions of people around the world, media included would be checking out YouTube for him singing Thunderstruck and Highway to Hell and all the classic hits expecting and wanting him to butcher them. Hence the Godly performances haha.
He's already won people over. So he probably feels like he can relax a bit now and just enjoy the shows and not kill himself every night.
-
@IncitingChaos I wouldn't dwell on how well he's gonna sound to the masses on a pro shot concert too much. I'm sure he's well aware of the criticisms and would perform to the best of his ability as a result. You have to realise, Axl has now done over 70 shows on the NITL tour. I know he's making millions and the fans deserve the best but it's just a job at the end of the day. He's probably just settled into a groove where he doesn't feel like overexerting himself at every single show when people are happy regardless.
But from what we've seen recently with AC/DC and Guns. When push comes to shove, he's more than capable of delivering the goods, and if he's under scrutiny or being closely watched then I'm sure he'll give it maximum effort. As of right now, the reality is there's no real need for him to do that.
But it's reassuring to know what he's actually capable of.

I think the main part of the discussion is we are less than a year removed from AC/DC and the NA leg of the NITL tour and we are seeing major drop offs in Axl's vocals. Maybe it's a conservative effort to prolong his vocals and lower risk of injury to make sure this tour gets completed or maybe 2016 had some side effects that have left his voice in recovery mode...
however the key point here is that was all within the last year and it's tough to say Axl has been improving on this leg...I'm willing to bet he comes on strong to finish this year and we are left looking at a huge difference between the shows now and the shows in the arenas around the US.
Yeah I've now seen Axl twice in the space of 12 months. There is a noticeable difference live between his performance with AC/DC and GN'R (on this leg at least) however, I've now changed my opinion somewhat, I don't really care. The level he's performing at now is still incredible in a stadium, the clean voice sounds strong and in key and when he uses rasp and screams it soars right through you. He's genuinely impressive and doesn't detract from the show whatsoever. I do think, if they were to release a Blu-ray, he'd need to make a conscious effort to use his AC/DC voice. Because his falsetto would not translate well from a soundboard recording. But, even at this level, still worth every penny.
This is a long ass tour and people are happy all over the world with his performances. Whether it be Houston or Slane, the same level of fan satisfaction resulted. People are blown away.
I'm more than content with Axl's performances now. Even if I disagree with his attitude and know he's capable of extra gears. I'm not gonna complain on show threads anymore if there's a less than stellar YCBM or whatever. The bottom line is, who the fuck even cares? It still sounds good in person due to the level of production and we know how good he actually can be anyway. So there's no need to worry about wondering whether he still "has it" or not. He obviously does, but analysing vocals show to show is becoming tiresome. He's still good and if we get a new album I can predict with almost 100% certainty there'll be some absolutely stunning vocals on it by Axl.

He hasn't lost it, it's just taken the form of Angus Young haha.

First off, he doesn't sound "fantastic" by any definition. Any one who says that is just a fan boy.
I was critical beforehand. However, attending Friday's show must've turned me into a "fanboy" because I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. So yeah, I've changed my opinion on this subject.
I've already stated in my post (which you seemed to ignore) that he's capable of delivering more. His reliant use of falsetto wouldn't translate well on a pro shot DVD but it does, however, sound good live. So when I say him sounding as good as he does with AC/DC wouldn't really make a difference to the overall quality of the show, I'm not excusing Axl's attitude or effort. I'm simply stating that it doesn't matter from a consumers perspective.
If that makes me a "fanboy" then I'm fine with that. I definitely got my money's worth thank you very much.
