First off, he doesn't sound "fantastic" by any definition.  Any one who says that is just a fan boy.  He may sound "fantastic" on a tune here, or a tune there.....or part of a song here or there.  But, the vocal abilities he is demonstrating right now are average.  Plain and simple.  Saying he sounds fantastic is pure myopia.

    Go away.

  2. I went to Friday's show and I thought Axl sounded great. Not as good as when I saw him with AC/DC last year but definitely good enough. I do agree with people who say that he could put more effort to maintain his vocals to a higher standard but judging by how great the show was there's really no need. Him absolutely blasting Nightrain or Jungle like he blasts Back in Black wouldn't make that much of a difference imo. Unless they're gonna release a pro shot.

I would definitely go again and be thrilled if Axl's voice was the same level as it was on Friday. There's really no point in complaining on every thread about the quality of his performance. Yes he's capable of more but he's content with singing the way he is at the moment. And so are the thousands of people who witness it at every show. He sounds fantastic.

Also "Mickey" doesn't exist outside of YouTube. His falsetto translates extremely well through the PA system.

  3. Cool moment: I've just read through a few pages and saw that you didn't get many streams so maybe you missed this. But during KOHD Axl mentioned how the first time they ever played it was in London. It was in a "cosy place just like this" (sarcastic) "The Marquee." That was great, hearing him talk so candidly about their history. Also, just before introducing Duff, he had a slight rant at the crowd, in a nice way, he said to stop throwing cups and shit at each other because he wants everyone to have a good time. That was cool.

For those who attended.... What's the transport like after the gig? Plenty of taxis about or what? I'm only staying 2 miles away but wondering how hard it's going to be to get back

Absolutely horrendous. Took me an hour to even get a cab back to the hotel. Ordered one and it didn't show up so we had to fight to get a random one. Took forever.

anyone else notice how Axl has ditched the hats and leather jackets of 2014 in favor of sunglasses / T shirts / bandana / nothing of the above?

he's showing lots more confidence and, well, he seems to actually give a fuck these days!

He's been doing that since the first show over a year ago haha.

It would have been better if they had made an actual GN'R version of it, instead of playing it and singing it just like it is, given that Axl's and Chris voices are not the same.

If they weren't so lazy... or Axl wasn't so lazy.... would have found a way to appropiate the song and not expose the weakness of his voice.

You mean like rehearse? Axl? For GN'R?! Haha! Not in This Lifetime...

I'll be there with my older brother who introduced me to Gn'R when I was 8.

Bought tix for his 40th birthday and decided to order some custom shirts for the event to keep as cool memories.

Just got them in the mail and pretty pleased with how they turned out. :headbang:

Can't wait to be on Friday, it's gonna be EPIC !

Wow those are awesome. Where did you get them from? They'll probably be better than the official one's with the litho print on them haha.

  8. I actually don't mind the covers. I mean the setlist is pretty huge anyway and they play a shit load of their own material with a good mix of hits and fairly deep cuts. But having two covers in the encore, sometimes even playing them back to back is a bit excessive. At least spread them out a little better. Like, swap BHS and Yesterdays position in the setlist.

Sorry if the question has been asked already but will the merch be outside or inside the venue?
Been to Vegas and Japan so far and every time, the tents were outside so I could put my lithos in a safe place before the show.

I'm really concerned about how it works for this leg as I read one guy from here got stuck in the pit with his lithos in Imola...

I think we'll be able to get merchandise from about 3:00pm. That's when "Stadium Island" opens. Which I can only imagine is the area surrounding the stadium. So that's where the merch stands will be I think. The actual stadium itself opens at 5.

Where to begin. A couple things i learned today:

this band is an entity. You can see it onstage. The interactions, not just between the big three, but also between slash and frank or duff and frank for example. You can tell that these guys are having a blast on stage. And you can tell, that there's a sense of trust and friendship between the big three. Whatever you think about the motives for the reunion...those guys oy being there and theyre having a great time. And it shows. Axl was constantly smiling today.

also, at he beginning of the reunion, i was not very fond of franks drumming and how he fit in this. But he has improved very much. His drumming isnt that out of place anymore, here rythim section is very tight.

axls voice: i do notice how he sometimes sounds on videos. I hate that mickey wor,d but i hear it. But i gotta say. Hearing it life is a completely different experience. Indont know if axl sounded better or as usual in the videos, but tonight he was fucking killing it. And not just for the songs he is usually good at, but everything. The way he sings...it fits perfectly and inunderstand why he chooses to sing like this and not full rasp like axldc. It sounds very good and its strong. Th live experience really is something that you cannot recreate through a video. No argument about that.

when axl threw his whistle at nightrain, it landes just two feet away from me, which was a bummer. This chick got hit in the head by he whistle and got upset and almost started crying. What an idiot..instead of being honoured that she got hit by axls whistle

the crowd was okay in the front. Better than i expected. You could tell it was a speciel venue for the band.

this was my fifth reunion show, but it probably was the most intense one, since i was as close as ever. Perfect day and perfect night. This is the spectacle of the century and you shouldn't miss out on this

    pics to follow

Glad you enjoyed it, seemed like a great show from the videos I saw. I can't wait for London on Friday!

  11. It's a difficult one. Because once you have a change in line-up (as almost all bands do) even if new members write and record new material that is then toured on. You might call it a brand rather than a band but what if then you have a full blown reunion? Would the older members then be considered part of a "brand" because they didn't write the newer material?

This might not be as prudent with GN'R but what about bands that have released some their most iconic material after a dramatic line-up change? Like AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones etc.?

If you agree with the logic the article puts forward does that mean that no band holds its integrity once a line-up changes? It's hard to accept that given the history of quality bodies of work that have been released under these so called "brands."

I'm waiting for a video of Yesterdays so I can trash Axl's vocals two shows in a row...

but really...poor crowd. They took a big hit tonight

The stadium itself deserves trashing as well. Even from the streams the acoustics sounded horrendous. There was tons of natural delay and reverb. Sounded as though Slash was playing about 12 guitars at once and Axl had about 8 mics.

But other than that, no bitching ;)

Good show thread...some good jokes were told, everyone had fun, got to enjoy the scopes, no feelings hurt, no pointless arguments. Good job guys!

Haha, it's funny that when there's nothing to really bitch about it ends up being the crowd that gets the hate.
