  1. Put it this way, even a 54 year old Axl Rose with a broken foot can change people's opinions of him by a couple of crowd footage YouTube videos based on his vocal abilities alone. That's impressive, especially in the social media age of people used to being extrememly critical to the point of bullying. In spite of thr constant hate and almost, built in negative associations with the mention of his name for over 2 decades. People forget all that when they hear him and see him perform and are still blown away by his abilities. If that isn't influential then I don't know what is.

Also, he's managed to stay current without even speaking to the media. Insane.

would anyone be interested in AXL/DC t shirts ? 100% unofficial. the black box you can see around the logo on the black shirt wont be visible and the "LONDON 2016" text can be changed to anything or just removed.

they will cost me £7.20 to get made up so with postage they will probably cost about a tenner.

U can believe me or choose not to but i have been told what happened was Pitman got a little too drunk that fateful night me made the "cash grab" social media posts, realized what he had done and tried to delete them but the screenshots were already captured by people in the Guns' camp. Next day he showed up to rehearsal and was greeted by Duff slamming him up against the wall asking him who the fuck he thinks he is and then being told to by Duff and Slash to pack up his shit and leave. I have good reason to believe to who told me, so no Pitman did not quit. He fucked up and was fired.

    Who told you that?

Here's my take on it.  I think it could end up being a great thing for the GNR tour but could also be risky for everything that GNR has been building in recent months.  For example, if Axl comes out and bombs a few performances with AC/DC, it will be all over the internet within hours and the shows that are slow to fill might continue to have a difficult time selling.  Worse, Axl could hurt his voice for is main gig.  I see a few of you are saying it and others shooting the possibility down, but it could happen.  A lot of the Back in Black and later stuff is challenging to sing.  If we, the GN'R armchair band/tour managers are thinking about these possibilities, you've got to think that the people close to the actual tour have considered them too.

My biggest problem with the whole idea of Axl joining AC/DC was the timing for the official announcement.  I think it should have been done two weeks ago or at least they should have waited until after the Coachella shows.. Even the second Coachella weekend would have been better for GN'R than breaking the news just before the show on Saturday.  It still would have been a huge story but would not have overshadowed the reunion news.  I've already talked to a few people who are confused.  Not big fans like us but people who were considering going down to the San Diego show later this Summer.  The all said "Eddie, what's going on with GNR?  I thought there was a reunion tour but I just heard Axl's going on tour with ACDC instead? "

Did they reschedule concert dates?  I think they did, although damage was probably minimal since agreements weren't signed until just before the dates were announced.  Many ancillary contracts regarding touring are written to provide flexibility in the event of a cancellation.  I suspect that Atlanta, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, and Arlington were likely to have been rescheduled.

Another possibility is that a professional vocalist who has been singing for a living for 30 years may actually know how to sing Back In Black without blowing out his voice on the eve of the biggest tour of his life...

  5. So glad I kept my ticket for June 9th in Manchester.

I honestly don't understand why so many people are against this. I can understand being disappointed at not seeing Brian Johnson, but come on. They have dates that they need to honour. They're not gonna miss out on $$$ so who else is there in the industry that can both justify the ticket price that fans have already paid and actually do the songs justice? Axl is more than capable vocally and is a big enough name, it makes sense as GN'R are heavily in the public eye right now so it's a win win for both camps. This is the best of a bad situation.

As far as I can see, all the hate stems from ignorance. Axl, as far as we know, is filling in for 12 remaining dates of the European tour, plus a bunch of rescheduled North American shows which will presumably take place after GN'R's North American stadium run. That's it. He's not "the new singer for AC/DC." Just helping out and I can't wait for him to blow it out of the water, which he will.

Most of these comments of "oh they should just retire, Axl will ruin their legacy" and all that shit doesn't even make any sense. How will he possibly ruin it? No offence, AC/DC is one of my all time favourite bands, but those guys trying to write an album without Malcolm Young and releasing that pile of shit Rock or Bust has done more damage than Axl could ever do.

    So yeah, to clarify:

Axl isn't leaving Guns for DC

    He can sing their material

He is a better choice than some fucking no mark from Airbourne

It's weird how the press in general and most people outside of this forum are extremely impressed with what Axl is still able to do, yet it is among his fans where he will always find criticism. In the AC/DC forum, for instance, everybody is absolutely blown away by the saturday performance.

He is really a victim of how high he set the bar himself.

I was thinking of how to explain this with out ramblin' on too much, but you just worded that well. I totally agree, real fans know what he is capable of, but even Axl at half of his capabilities is way better than anything most casual rock fans have heard.

tldr shows were great and eddie trunk knows shit we don't but won't tell us until they're annouced

    little summary

thursday he went to dinner with slash, myles, and the conspirators

slash said the vibe in the band was great and was all positive
then eddie played them the new ace frehley album in the restaurant

met duff at the hotel and was told about axl's broken leg

duff talks about it's amazing he was able to tough it out and finish the troubadour show considering how severe the break was

no one had the answer how late they would go on.. thought it was funny it said doors open at 8 on the ticket

got a text from vince neil's friend after the nicolas cage fight :bitchfight: and said vince is having a get together at his bar
met with vince and told him he's the only one left to carry on the motley crue songs blablabla :sleeper:

met a fan wearing one of the gnr shirts from the merc stands and asks him much it cost. the fan tells him 45$ and this blows eddie's mind. fan tells him springsteen sells shirts for 65.. then eddie goes on about how reunions always are about the money

fast forward to the night of the show.. he hangs outside of the arena til 11 because he knew gnr wouldn't go on earlier (guessing he's not a big aic fan)..  on the way to his seat he takes a bunch of pictures with fans and then notices maggie (lauren cohen) from the walking dead. no one is recognizing her so he goes up to her and ends up giving her HIS number  :shrugs:

while waiting for guns to go on they played the first montrose album which made eddie happy..

show started around midnight and they sound great blablabla..
goes on to talk about the line up being basically the 2014 line up with slash and duff plugged in..

knows why pitman is out but can't talk about it
said they sounded great because axl nailed it .
part of it was because he rehearsed but also because he was seated..
goes on about his theory of why artists sound great in recording studios because they're seated and not running around stage
happy they cut the time down a bit (no extended solos like nu gnr did)
says this is still axl's band
6 or 7 alternate songs they will sub out to freshen the set
stage set will be different for the stadiums
knows some secrets but can't burn bridges

show ends 2:30 am he gets a text from beta.. goes backstage
    sees slash and axl talking..
sees dave grohl and taylor hawkins.  jokes about how dave managed to get himself attached to the gnr reunion (he's tired of seeing grohl on every thing rock related)
finally meets with axl.. they talk about the show, broken leg, music in general, and some shit he can't talk about until it's announced because he gave axl his word
only thing he can say is axl is very happy.. he'll be in the chair for coachella (not sure if the same throne) and will be in the cast for a couple of weeks after.. will need rehab after getting it off before he will be back to running around on stage
also said axl wants to do another interview..

isn't 100% sure but thinks that izzy/steven will probably show up to some dates with how positive the vibe is but doesn't think it's anytime soon

didn't want to go to the saturday show (which he was offered to) because he didn't want to bug them anymore so he had a book signing and sold his merc and then went to generation axe show at the hard rock

Great summation. I actually already listened to it but read your post anyway because it was so spot on haha. Although I would also add how smug Eddie is about knowing shit that we don't.

  8. Just thought I'd say and I'm sure many of you will agree, how refreshing it is to see the majority of the mainstream public and casual fans actually praising and being blown away by Axl's performance last weekend. All the reviews have been positive and believe it or not, most of the YouTube and social media comments is also full of people showing the love! Even when the odd negative comment shows up, people are defending him and blasting people for insulting the man.

Hopefully if Axl can keep delivering great performances and show up (relatively) on time, this really may sway the publics view of him. Throw in one interview with Slash and he's golden!

As I said before, Axl own the Band's name contract. He own Guns N' Roses now. So technically He control Guns N' Roses. Slash N' Duff is just like Fortus N' Others.Temporary hired Members just to fill the position. They have no right to decide something. If that contract isnt exist, They still can discuss Sorum N' Others with Axl. Its up to Axl now. Like it or not thats how it is.

I'm forgetting the sources I I don't know how reliable this point is, but something came out a few days ago about Slash and Duff getting shared percentages of income from the tour, whereas NuGN'R members were on salary. So if this is true, it suggests that Axl, Slash and Duff are now shares partners in Guns N' Roses. It kind of makes sense and why they wanted to wait until Slash's divorce was final. Also you can imagine it would've taken each party's lawyers a good while to come to a final decision were everybody is happy.

If it took that long with Slash and Duff, Izzy and Steven (or their representatives) are gonna want a similar deal, which would take a lot longer for those guys, especially Steven who only has writing credits on one album. This is most likely why no one has said fuck all about them being involved as of yet, it's possible it's still being worked out. This also falls in line with Izzy's comment about being offered a shit deal.

Again I am purely speculating (but what else can we do with absolutely no official statements and rumours from questionable sources.)

  12. Maybe I did go a bit overboard. It just seems to be a typical thing with some people that aggravates me, something they've been wishing for years to happen finally happens and the very next day all they can do is complain.

But yeah, reading it back that hipster retort barely makes sense haha.

Oh well, at least we're all passionate! :P

Btw this is in response to Apollo. Just forgot to quote him.

  13. The people who are saying Fortus plays Slash's solos better and is better live etc. are missing the point entirely.

He didn't write them! He's a fucking employee hired by a man who is a perfectionist who wanted an exact replica of Slash's playing, so of course he plays them with more precision live than Slash.

The has probably practising every single note a million times until his fingers bled with Axl fucking Rose breathing down his neck every step of the way.

But Slash is responsible for those great riffs and solos and is an icon. That's why people want him there and why the spotlight is on him and not Richard. Everyone knows that including Richard and he has accepted it like a professional. So should you bunch of deluded hipsters.
