Its like 5 guys started a company and made a TV and that TV was very successful but over the years the company shut down.

Then after 25 years the company starts to operate selling the same TV again, so the 4th and 5th business partner should get the equal amount of money of the sales of that 25 year old TV which the 5 of them made.

    Shit example, sorry.

I for one could not care less if izzy never shows up again, my first live show was donnington 88 and my last was glasgow 2012.

Ive seen izzy 3 times live with gnr and in my opinion he offers no more than fortus or gilby. If he never wants to show up again, well who cares?

 There should be banning's for this level of stupid.

I think ultimately Izzy just wants to be treated as an equal. The guy has his name on the bulk of the material that's being played live yet they want to pay him as though he were a session musician. It doesn't matter what happened in the band since he quit, because they fucked it all up and burnt it to the ground. All of them. This year sees the phoenix taking flight again and how the hell they're neglecting to see that Izzy was there for every decent song they ever made together I'll never know. Strange class system going on in the band when Izzy gets treated as less essential than Dizzy

    This.......

Treated as a equal. It was a chance to draw a line in the sand & say that side was a fuck up, moving forward lets do this right. Then negotiate, but not for guest spots or a few songs, that's insulting. He may not be at an even split with the others just now, but he deserves a very sizeable slice of the fucking pie. Revisit it again later, on the back of successful tours, possible new music, future touring & proven performance the situation could be looked at again.

It annoys me mostly because I was holding out hope of the possibility of new music from them, new, new music, not CD2 retakes or any re polished turds from that era.

That & it makes them all look far more human than they are held u to around here.

Tell if something would you cut your pay in half for a friend who's inclusion would be insecure at best? Don't misunderstand me I love Izzy and his music, but if one guy is bringing a million, and another one a thousand or ten, why should the other guy walkout with half a million when he only brings ten thousands? He can't even be promoted for guest apparences because he might not show up to those if he has the chance. even to his friends this seems to be an issue, considering he apparently was supposed to be in even more GN'R shows than he was during past tours.

#Bullshit If Axl can be managed to start on time Izzy can be managed to play shows.

Please provide examples of all the GnR shows Izzy didnt show up to?

It wouldn't hurt your feelings if someone you considered a good friend only did something for you because he made financial demands that were met?

Wpuld it hurt your feelings to be offered pay, or paid well below your value?

Izzy knows his worth in GnR related terms & wont sell his ass for less. Its called integrity.

It is not subjective.  Were it subjective, I could confidently announce that I just released my "masterpiece" albums "Fart Volume I" and "Fart Volume II" as I read your post.  My opinion that my "Fart" albums were "masterpieces" would be as valid as your opinion about Chinese Democracy, or, an actual valid opinion:  "Appetite for Destruction" IS a masterpiece.  You can't have it both ways:  Either my "Farts" are just as much a masterpiece as Chinese Democracy, or this is an objective question & CD isn't a masterpiece.  P.S.  I can listen to my farts all the way through and enjoy every moment....

    That, all fucking day.

GNR is not and has never been like Burger King. You can't have it your way. They do what they want regardless of what people think that they should do. That's been their mantra since the mid 80's

Izzy quit the band and left the partnership. He gave up his power to make decisions a long time ago. Doesnt mean that the others necessarily don't want to play with him, or couldn't come to terms for his involvement in the future, but by no means are they obligated to restore him as a full time member just because any % of the fan base is wondering where he is.

Richard Fortus is the rhythm guitar player in Guns N Roses, and has been since 2001. It's his gig, and has done a fine ass job in that role. Anyone who says he can't play, I totally disregard anything they have to say about music/guitar. Coming from someone who has a degree in guitar, well you're just not well informed.

As far as Slash and Duff, all we know is that they have rejoined the band. No one knows to what extent, or what partnership/legal entity the band is reformed under. It could be very simple, a complicated agreement where they've actually joined Axl's new entity, or even something that's brand new.

Nobody outside a handful of a people really know how it's set up and how the sausage is really made. It also doesn't matter one tiny bit how they are legally constructed and who makes what. Just know that they are being well compensated enough to devote their time to the project.

Not every band is constructed as equal partnerships. In fact very few are. The pie is almost always split differently and there are tons of bands who pay out salary to members. GNR is no different and isn't really doing anything that's so drastic from the norm.

Sit back and enjoy the shows. Everything else is irrelevant and out of your control. It could be all over tomorrow, and you missed out

As much as I love Izzy, I want to see what Axl, Duff and Slash can do without him.
If we get a terrible new album (assuming we'll get one) then we'll all know that yes, we need Izzy in the band 'cause looking at these guys discographies after Guns N' Roses... Theres nothing really exciting about it.

Some might say Izzy solo stuff is boring but it has the thing this band needs the most: Rock N' Roll. Not heavy metal, not nu metal, not industrial or Elton John. Rock N' Fuckin' Roll. Izzy's ideas combined with elements from Slash, Duff and Axl equals Guns N' Fuckin Roses.

    Quote

Do you think that fans can appreciate facets of you as a solo musician that couldn't be seen in Guns N' Roses?

Izzy: "Each song that I've recorded since I left Guns N' Roses, is the same type of song that I did when I was in GN'R. What happened then was that I composed a song, and then Slash added his part and Axl added his part, and that became Guns N' Roses. Whereas, what you hear when you put on one of my CDs, is the same ideas and the same inspiration that I had in Guns N' Roses but without Slash or Axl. It is the more basic version.

I can't find the link but I was reading recently some legal papers showing that the partnership between Duff, Slash and Axl relate to the use of the logo. It was registered in 1993  and some of the transcripts show Slash signing off on the bullet artwork being used in new artwork for the 2007 tour.

If Axl owned the name and could do what he wanted in terms of the band, Slash and Duff have both performed GnR songs over the years. It doesn't seem that the partnership had a bearing on what they were allowed perform within their own bands. I assume it would enable them to sign off on the use of the songs by other artists and how the song are represented in other media.

I would be interested to know what restrictions are on Izzy by not being a partner, other than financial. Can he freely perform GnR songs if he wanted too, does he have rights in how the songs are used or did this all go?

Sorry if I digress from the original question I'm trying to work out how he would gain by not being a touring member of the band, as that seems to have suited him up until now.

Axl controlled rights to the name only, The three were always three way controlling partners in the original (real) GnR regardless of who was in the band. Axls NuGuns was a separate business / band. Axl quit the original partnership & took the rights to the name with him.

  10. It needs to start somewhere & guest spots would be a good start. I understand its a business decision & izzy chose to sell out his shares. These guys especially Axl are all financially set. There are not a lot of years left for this to play out, its one chance to cement the legacy & go out the right way. If some new music was to come out Izzy could contribute so much. A point of agreement must be able to be made somewhere.

I would like it if he were, but in what role exactly im not sure. I like Fortus, and therefore would like it if there was some way for Izzy, Slash, and Fortus to all be in the band at the same time. Idk how to make that work tho.

There is no way for that to work unless Izzy guested like Steve. Of the Two it is more realistic that Izzy could resume full time duties.

6.5 million of copies for Chinese Democracy CD is a good number if you consider the terrible crisis in the music industry. Not to mention all the sold out concerts in Latin America and other places.

(Much better than the 300 k copies sold by Slash in all this years).

Slash said that (Axl wrote all the songs, is not my statement) and he is an authorized opinion, or not?

Of course many of the songs were co-written but the most successful and great songs were written by Axl (completely): November rain, estranged, my michelle, welcome to the jungle, sweet child of mine, this i love ,etc..

Slash is not a songwriter at all, only create music (not lyrics, exept some like rocket queen).

I respect your opinion too, but I think you are in the minority in thinking "this I love" is shit. See several vids on youtube of the song : people absolutely love the song and a lot of users thought TIL a part of a trilogy. (NR-E-TIL).

After nearly two decades of backbiting and recriminations, it’s easy to forget that Slash and Axl Rose shared a bond that went beyond sparking Guns N’ Roses to greatness.
It was a relationship built on mutual admiration, as Slash makes clear in an exclusive video from Loudwire. “Aside from the fact that he’s obviously one of the greatest singer/frontman guys to come along ever and a brilliant lyricist,” Slash says, “he’s also a super, super intelligent — a very astute individual.”
Find out what else Slash has to say about Rose in the clip, attached above.
This new talk follows a hilarious run through his official Wikipedia page, which ultimately led Slash to a series of fond recollections about his time with both Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver. Check it out at Loudwire, and then listen to the five songs you must hear from Slash’s new album, ‘World on Fire.’

MusicRadar users voted Axl Rose as the best vocalist to join Velvet Revolver. And perhaps Slash is in agreement - the guitarist has surprisingly kind words for Chinese Democracy, the Guns N' Roses album Axl has labored over for well over a decade. Maybe he wouldn't mind playing the songs live.

"I already listened to it," Slash revealed during a recent interview. "At first I thought that I would never listen to it until it's released, but someone handed it to me and I was in my car and I was like 'Okay, let's give it a try.'

"So I listened to it: It's a really good record. It's very different from what the original Guns N' Roses sounded like, but it's a great statement by Axl. Now you understand where he was heading all this time. It's a record that the original Guns N' Roses could never possibly make. And at the same time it just shows you how brilliant Axl is. So it was a relief for me to actually hear it."

Nine tracks off the album have already been leaked onto the Internet, and Slash had harsh words for the perpetrator. "When somebody takes somebody's work and releases it prematurely just to become famous, it's an incredibly selfish and criminal thing to do. A record is a piece of art. And it shouldn't be released until the creator decides to release it - and I don't care how long it took to make it."

The number of units CD moved had more to do with what GnR was than any substance in the record itself. CD is a steaming pile of shit compared to AFD, Lies & Illusions. I know some people are fans of the material but Justin Bieber & Nickelback have fans as well.
