The apartment izzy and some of the band lived in that slash talks about in his band.

If ever im in LA i woukd definetly rent a car and see axls house

Great suggestions. For some reason, places they rehearsed don't excite me as much as places where they lives or hung out. I'll include them on my list though. As for Axl's house... I dunno, the address is all over the internet and lots of folks get their pic taken by the gate... people's private houses are a grey area for me.

System Of A Down has a song that goes: the most loneliest day of my life, but in the chorus that fits better than ''most lonely'' or just ''loneliest''so they went with the incorrect grammar, but it's no big deal. Lyrics and poetry are often not correct.

Most lyrics by Duff and Izzy.

This made me laugh because every time I listen to 'So fine' by Duff it strikes me that the lyrics are such rubbish!!

    "It's a story of a man
Who works as hard as he can
Just to be a man who stands on his own
    But the book always burns
As the story takes it turn
    An leaves a broken man"

I mean seriously, WTF Duff???! Not to mention this part doesn't seem to be related to the other verses at all.:lol:

@money honey I saw SMKC last night and Slash ran away and hid behind the drum kit when Myles was introducing the band. He was like wtf where did he go lol but then he said it’s because Slash hates the introductions haha

Sober Slash is just so shy these days

What did you think of the show?

That's nice. I got front row for the 2 NITL shows I went and I started queing at 9/10am. It's exhausting. It would be nice to start queuing at that time :headbang:

But how was the show? You enjoyed it?

Show was amazing, worth queuing in the cold for!! Slash is - well, you know - in a class of his own. A force of nature. A legend. His playing is so unique and all-powerful. He looked fantastic too, I loved his leather trousers with seams all over. He wore a T-shirt with big holes cut in the sides, revealing the occasional nipple, much to my friend’s delight!! We were right at the front in the centre, so we had a fantastic view, including of Meegan in the wings, photographing and recording all the time.

The band and Myles were outstanding. Myles’ voice is beautiful and varied - high, low, scratchy, smooth. He did a great job of being frontman while fitting in with Slash being the main man. Myles also has great connection with the audience.

And that brings me to my only gripe... Slash’s lack of eye contact and connection with the audience. (This applies to him in GNR shows too.) He never speaks. He never takes off his shades so you get no idea of where he’s looking. His facial expression doesn’t ever change (apart from that funny gurning thing he does when lost in his music, which is involuntary). Even at the end when he thanked Myles, he did it as briefly as possible. I feel this is a loss. He has so much charisma, it’s a shame not to feel even a little bit of emotion or reaching out coming from him.

To sum up, I was there to see Slash as a member of GNR, not as a fan of Slash on his own or of the band - but had an amazing time and am now listening to the latest SMKC album for its own sake.

  5. I’m en route to Glasgow for SMKC tomorrow night!!

Did anyone else find this clip of Slash in Poland using the mic stand as a slide ... erm... moving... in unexpected ways???

Look at the way he’s sliding the guitar up and down gently with very precise, short strokes... :wow:

My latest initiative, the band was delighted. It was recorded by several people as we informed Slash's management about the surprise way back before the show.  We'll see that moment in motion soon ;)

    Fabulous!! What organisation!

I’m bringing a banner to the Glasgow gig, would love to get on the smkc social media... who on slash’s management should I contact??

Funny, I was googling about Night Train not long ago and noticed that it is often put in the same group as Mad Dog 20/20, so now I can really imagine how rancid Night Train must be after going through the whole hanging around parks at night drinking 20/20 when I was 14 phase :vomit:

Thanks for giving my lonely post some love. :hug:You were googling night train wine? Why? And what is mad dog 20/20??

This has been an amazing journey for me. And I thought I'd share my story here because maybe it'll worth someone's while.

I was born and raised in Beijing, China. I started listening to GN'R when I was 14, and practically learned English through all things related to this band ever since. In 2008 I, along with two guys on the internet, collaborated online to translate Slash's autobiography into Chinese. The project did well, though as I grew and as my English level got better, there was this gnawing feeling that I could've done better. But I didn’t do anything about it for six years.
2008 was also the year Chinese Democracy was released, which sealed the fate for GN'R because they were officially banned from performing in mainland China. I knew I had to go abroad to see them live, something I had never done before. During college I realized that the goal of seeing them live would be perfectly fulfilled by going to a grad school in the US. So I studied hard for the GRE, got admitted to USC's PR program in 2012. During those two years I saw more than a dozen GN'R and ex-members’ gigs combined, including the 2012 SMKC's show at Wiltern Theater where I met Slash in person.

Then came 2014, which was the year my grad school program would come to an end. I thought before I graduate I should deal with the gnawing feeling while I still have relatively more free time. So, in January 2014, I decided to re-translate the whole book. My goal was a thousand or so Chinese characters a day, and I never missed a single day. The translation process halted during summer and resumed in September, and then finally concluded on December 31 2014, with a total duration of about 9 months.

I had no idea what the "proper process" for publishing a translation work was. Turns out you should almost never translate a book first and then look for publishing companies willing to undertake the project. But that's what I did. The next year saw two failed attempts at finding the right publishing company; then slowly but surely, I found the right one, which was a well-intentioned but unbelievably inefficient organization. About three years after my translation was done, in July 2017, the book came out.

The Chinese version was surprisingly both commercially and critically well received. And I began to hatch the idea of giving the book to Slash himself as a gift. Would it be an awkward gift since Slash can't read Chinese at all? Maybe, but it's worth trying.

I waited patiently for the right opportunity. As I had no personal connections that would allow me to inform Slash of my intention, I had to improvise. After the book was published, I went to two GN'R reunion shows (2018 Taiwan and Hong Kong) to see if there was a chance to find leaked information as to his whereabouts. But it didn't pan out.

Then I learned that SMKC would perform in Beijing and Shanghai in January 2019. This sounds like my best shot.

I arrived early at the venue of the Beijing show, lurked around the entrance to the backstage, talked to one of the roadies who said he'd talk to the guy handling VIP arrangement. While waiting for the other roadie who would hopefully get me inside the backstage, something magical happened: A nondescript Chinese middle-aged man who looked like a scalper walked up to me (I was with some other fans), and dropped Slash's hotel name and flight info in thick, almost unintelligible, dialect. And then he disappeared.

My jaw dropped. I looked up on my phone to try to make sense of what he said. Turns out the only flight whose first class tickets almost sold out was the one he told us about. That was a promising sign.

I hesitated but decided to try my luck and bought a first class ticket. Fans verified the validity of the hotel info later that night as well as the next morning. Seems like the flight info was legit indeed. I arrived at the airport, passed security check, and was advised to relax at the VIP lounge. I stepped inside, looked to my right, and there was Slash, having his lunch with his bodyguard.

I waited for him to finish lunch. When he sat down with his band, I approached him, telling him that I was the translator of his book, and that I wanted to give him a copy as a gift.

He seemed amused, and said: "My book? In Chinese?” And gladly accepted my request.

That's how I took the photo, which was, in a sense, four years in the making.

Thanks for your time for reading my story. I just got back from SMKC's Shanghai concert, and decided to share my excitement while it's fresh.

P.S. I also translated and published Duff’s autobiography. Look forward to the day I present the book to him in person.

Thank you so much for posting this inspiring and incredible story! I'm in awe of the effort you put in: moving the the US, studying there, improving your English, the translation work (which must have been intense), waiting for the opportunity, buying a first-class flight, and finally actually getting to meet the man himself...!!

    The world needs that Axl....sigh

If you see the video of the airport...he only carries his cell....ja....

Yep. I love pissed off Axl (just not the storming off stage and never coming back).

He's not carrying anything because he has no musical instrument to carry.

Seriously, I think Axl is mesmerized by having curly daddy all to himself since I think Meegan is not there, right? :takethat:

Is anyone else sick of Kat and her egocentric photos?? "Look at me, I used to be a model (but clearly wasn't that good because now I'm a photographer)..." Her recent photos of herself aren't even promoting her photography 'skills' because she's not the photographer... Pure attention seeking and fishing for compliments. (Yeah I hate her because she has access to Axl purely because she's young and beautiful.)

Well done you!! I heard there is no early entry for the Asia shows, did you have to use the "queue for ages then run" tactic??
