  1. I think we're past the lap of honour stage now. Without a push to the 'next phase' of the band, we're looking at them just slowly sliding away I think.
  2. No, no, don't worry- no need to apologise. I get totally where you're coming from. That's a good point about the price, and to be honest, when you keep that in mind and select what you watch a bit carefully you could have a good couple of days....it just doesn't seem to have much of an identity, which I think always leads to crappy/uninterested crowds in my opinion.
  3. Puppet Show and Guns and Roses? They'd get the big dressing room.
  4. Comparing Axl Rose, one of the greatest, wildest rock and roll frontmen of all time to......the coasting boss of a business who wants things dull, stable and secure is most definitely not a compliment! But I think that is probably the problem now. GNR is a business, just waiting for the boss to retire. And that's a tragedy given their talent.
  5. Haha, my musical horizons are pretty well expanded, and rock is certainly not just my only interest (probably the genre I listen to least actually these days).....but it doesn't stop festivals needing to have some time and thought go into their lineup to be enjoyable rather than just throwing together anyone that is available. I've been to so many festivals, but in recent years the music they have on is an afterthought. People go to take photos, chat with their backs to their stages and talk about 'festival vibes'. From this, frankly dreadful, lineup this seems like a classic of that genre. I just stick to gigs now, where there's a change the crowd might actually be interested in who is playing! Been burned too many times from watching great bands play to uninterested crowds, sadly.
  6. It's a bizarre lineup- it just looks like a load of acts have been thrown together with no thought. I suppose that's what festivals are now though mainly, just a mess of acts designed to act as background for drinking and Instagram photos. This one just seems particularly all over the place. All the Lil Baby (had to Google him just to check he is, indeed, another auto-tuned mumble-rapper) fans will doubtless be thrilled at Uncle Axl and his old pals coming on right after! Absolutely bizarre.
  7. VERY overpriced if my previous experiences there are anything to buy! Eat before and after you go in/out would be my advice.
  8. I was one of those that used to really think that. I actually think that's genuinely a sad thing- that illusion being shattered. As a fan it's a tough one to come to terms with.
  9. I wonder if releasing those two songs in that manner sold them many tickets? It's difficult to see that they would with no promotional campaign behind them. In gig promoting the big moment is the announcement and the on sale day. That's when most tickets get sold. In a lot of cases that's when ALL tickets get sold. You'll pick up some more over time, but the big push is then. You need to give potential buyers the buzz and the feel of "I might miss out if I don't get them now" to capitalise on expensive tickets. Definitely try not to give them time to either consider it or get buyers remorse before they actually buy the tickets. It's pretty basic business stuff really.....and it baffles me why everyone has done so little with this latest leg. There's no selling point at all to push at people other than the vague "this might be your last chance....but probably not" angle, which they've pretty much removed by touring constantly since 2016.
  10. Well, the tour starts in a couple of weeks so if they're hoping to drive sales I'd say that ship has already sailed. The time to do it would have been when the tour got announced as part of a big campaign.
  11. Joking aside, this band really isn't worth getting heat stroke/dehydration for. Is there not some legal requirement for the venue to provide drinking water free of charge? It was always the case that water would be dished out by security at the front I thought? Why not just relax a bit? Buy GC tickets, stand towards the back of it, go and get some water whenever you need it. Absolutely no point making yourself ill.
  12. A pink dolphin onesie costume?! Audiences at rock gigs sure have changed. If you'd worn that at a GNR gig in the past I imagine you'd have been beaten senseless!
  13. I don't either. People like predictability and repetition I suppose. They get something out of it that I personally don't understand- probably as simple as "they enjoy it", but it's certainly not for me. Variety and stuff I haven't seen before is pretty vital to me when going to gigs. I don't think those are that important to a lot of people though.
  14. "Come on folks, dig deep, these stadiums won't fill themselves". But yeah, you might be right to be honest. A crazy, off the wall suggestion though could be to release and promote something new from the band that are touring......but we all know that isn't going to happen! There is a very big silence and lack of promotion around this tour though. Nothing seems to be being done by anyone to drum up excitement and interest.
  15. Quite funny in some ways that they're a couple of weeks off starting the tour and the band members are busy releasing and promoting new solo material rather than the tour!
  16. The fine leaders of the country I live in are definitely not smarter than me. Edit: I wanted to test it out with a phrase that I would agree with either way!
  17. It just rolls on and on, slowly and steadily! Bit of spice gets added when some 'insider' pops up with their latest set of bollocks or Fortus says "we're always working on new ideas". That keeps it ticking along nicely.
  18. Oh right. Well, the reasons still stand I think, but I don't think people post here very seriously anymore. As time goes on it becomes a weirder and funnier thread as more and more people slowly realise that it's quite likely we may never see another GNR album!
  19. But..... aren't you one of these people posting?! You could probably answer your own questions as to why people post! Why do you come to the forum so often and post so often? You'll have your reasons I'm sure. And they are probably identical to everyone else's reasons: Time wasting, messing around, a few laughs, a deep interest in GNR dating back decades, a sense of the absurd/Absurd, curiosity about whether this will ever change, engagement with other people about a topic of mutual interest, bit of debate, etc etc. Same stuff for everyone. If people didn't want to post or read this stuff.....it's very easy for them not to.
  20. You're probably right. It definitely feels like Slash and Duff have some sort of connection going on, but it doesn't feel like there's much beyond that.
  21. I say we're all stark staring, boggle eyed, mouth foaming fucking crazy mad men and women. And we should all be Metallica fans to increase our sanity*. *NB. This is a JOKE. I do not support the shunning of GNR in favour of Metallica.
