I'm not a singer so I can't say how hard it is to sing, but I'm really surprised they have played it so few times since UYI came out.  Songs a killer.  I heard them rehearse it before the Hershey show last year (minus Axl) and it was incredible.    Hell, after hearing the instrumental version, I'd recommend just play that and let the crowd sing along if Axl can't sing it- just kidding, well, kind of.

Yes I always thought Slash should play some of Locomotive in his solo part. Better than flogging Godfather for 25+ years. That got too old hat

Those setlists have clearly been knocked up on a computer at home and that crossing out added to make it look 'authentic'.

I wouldn't pay any attention to them.

What kind of sad sack would do that...hmmm could make a list

This will sound strange, but 1 of the VR gigs I caught was at Donnington in 2005, they were on just before Sabbath and the crowd was over 100,000. Weiland shined more there than the club gig. He was on fire that day for sure. The 2 theatre gigs were on the last leg of the Libertad tour, I think they broke up about a week later.

I was there too. Crazy crowd at Download.

I caught 2 shows on their last tour at Newcastle and Birmingham in 2008 before the breakup. Their last show was actually 1 April.

    Great VR thread this 👍

I bet, I really like how Scott sounds. He can capture really classic sounds too with his voice, as well as modern rock. A show of that size would be an amazing experience.

I really, really feel Libertad would have been far greater with Messages included.

Good shout. Messages and Gas and a $ Laugh were 2 of their best tunes. A shame they didn't make Libertad

VR were excellent live. I saw them 4 times, twice in a theatre that held 1,500 which was cool. I really liked Libertad also.

    14 times!!

I always feel like a freak having seen some bands 10-12 times. Great to see there’s other gig freaks out there!

I have seen quite a few bands double figures. VR were really special at the time. You can't argue with 2 albums in 3 years and multiple tours. Scott will always be one of my favourite frontmen

you know, I thought Slash's licks on Absurd were more inspired live and were less predictable melodically, less basic.

It would make a decent instrumental.

I was happy to bag a new tune but would have much preferred Hard Skool

UPDATE: Ticketshafter have passed my details onto Live Nation as they wish to address the issue with me directly. The plot thickens...

    Boom 👊 give em hell

complaining about sound issues is something I can understand. Complaining about the length of the show when it was 2 hours long... not so much.

Don't tell me that you're shocked my some people off MYGNR complaining!?

Yeah, I too went for the sound (or lack thereof) route. I can already see the generic template they'd respond with if you go with any of show length/Michael Monroe's cut set/2 hour delay outside/Generally useless staff. I'm almost sure poor sound is listed under TM's guidelines for applying for a refund, despite their insistence that they can't refund after a show, as if you're supposed to be a psychic and know it will end up in the tubes. If we were each to go to the small claims court we'd almost certainly win by default. Dunno, if i cba though.

Yeah I think that it's an untried and unfit venue counts in our favour.

You never know we might get a 20 quid voucher

4x in 2006 (inland invasion and all there nights at gibson amphitheater)

1x in 2011 (the la forum)

    2x in 2016 (Dodger Stadium)

3x in 2017 (twice in London and once at the LA Forum)

so 10x total for the name GNR

I also saw VR 14x which is just as much GNR to me as the 2006/2011 shows.

As well as plenty of shows by Slash solo Adler, Gilby, Duff projects including 2x with Janes Addiction, etc....

Out of all of them, VR was the best, especially the show at the Whisky.

Coolio ... I saw VR 14 times too. They were amazing live and I enjoyed them as much as Guns gigs.

    I prefer Contraband to Chinese

    I was there!

Fucking amazing night. Was also my first GnR related gig. I remember panicking trying to order the tickets, and treating them as gold when they arrived - wouldn't let then out my sight.

The gig was sweaty rnfnr of the highest calibre. Difficult to capture that atmosphere nowadays. Rod was an excellent front man as well as a good singer, people forget that.

I bought a t-shirt at that gig that I've lost though, which really annoys me.

I was there too. My mate was at Uni in Sheffield and we just got tickets on the night. Awesome show

    Wembley '91

    Wembley '92

    MK Bowl '93 both nights

    Olympic Stadium '17 both nights

    I didn't see any Nuguns

    Both nights at MK! Awesome

I just went to the 1st night. Did you see 2 not so cool kids wearing cycling shorts and tartan shirts with 'Where's Gilby' and 'Here's Izzy' on their backs. One of them was me 😎

Some may say look, these GNR forum fans are never satisfied! They just got a new Select, and yet they still bitch!
But this is so typical for GNR. Do they release a song where Axl sounds good? Do they release something new, which hasn’t been released many times before, something like Reckless Life or You’re Crazy fast version? Do they use basic logic? Why, no! We’ll fucking give you SCOM, which is definitely new and you couldn’t have seen it in any of the previous Selects, plus Axl sounds full rasp like in 2016 there!
Jeez. I guess it’s some sort of compensation for the "one or two new songs around June", which... I suppose... aren’t quite ready for release yet...

That's exactly what I thought. I don't need to see another live video of Sweet Child. I watched 2 minutes and have no real opinion on it. You're Crazy is a great shout. It was the best song on the London set for me

  12. I thought this show was great, just OK and Shite. Axl actually sounded good until his voice went

You're Crazy was fantastic, Easy/Brownstone although predictable were good and Civil War/Estranged cool. The Slash jam before Jungle was really good too.

Jungle itself just OK and undramatic intro, Chinese OK and a few others.

Double Talkn and Heavens Door a bore fest, Slither great singing from audience but why are they playing it and Whitchita absolutely shite as usual. The Carrie Underwood gig at the end suckered too. She has nice legs but I have no interest in hearing her sing.

Overall 6/10. I'm not tempted to see them again unless there's a major shake-up

You're mistaking entitlement for a fan who - knowing gnr - expected more than 2 barely 2 hour, sub-par shows placued with organisational issues after twice bring rescheduled. Entitlement? I paid alot of fucking money on both days, that's not a bizarre concept to overcome. What a fucking way to reward fans for waiting so long

    Go on my son.

I too have put a complaint in with Ticketmaster. I'm going more down the route of unfit venue, poor sound as my main complaint.

The venue was substandard so someone has to be accountable whether it's Ticketmaster or Tottenham stadium. I've spent thousands of pounds at Ticketmaster. I'm their customer and expect better.

If a member of the band is complaining about the venue it's got to be taken seriously.

I got a reply from TM saying it's being taken forward and I'll get a reply in 23 days.

I forgot it's a Ballache to post a pic here but I have a comment from Fortus saying venue was a challenge for their sound guys and they'll spead the word to other bands about it being a shit venue

Well, not really 'funny'- it was Saturday night and I was out with friends and not glued to the internet.

Thanks for keeping an eye on my posting habits though. It's nice to have fans.

Not that it matters, but I'm not sure how saying I wasn't watching streams and asking others what it was like qualifies as 'criticising' though. Still, good to see people keeping up with the cliche of telling anyone who dares to say anything not positive not to post anymore.

Glad you enjoyed the streams so much.

You post on a forum and you expect us to believe that you have friends!?

Next you'll be telling us you don't live with your parents. Madness!

My take on it is that as it seems to be selling not that well, there will be cheaper tickets near the time. I don't think you can lose though really - if you wait you'll still be able to get them at face value and just keep your eyes open for cheap ones.

I consider Axl always writes lyrics of what is alive in him. Also him being very descriptive of the situation and what he experienced, thought & imagined.

    - AFD, GNR Lies & illusions lyrically mainly where about drugs, alcohol, sex, fights, road lifestyle, etc the he was experiencing 86-91.
    - Chinese Democracy was mainly about the GNR breakup, NewGNR & divorces (92-2000+)

So an Axl at his 60s, a millionaire, being at hall of Fame, reunited with his band, and being looked after by a Brazilian family for decades:

What do you think is alive in him? What will be the themes for his lyrics? Will the lytics be relevant in 2022 or just memories of past decades?

'Axl always writes lyrics of what is alive in him'

Yikes Axl and always writes shouldn't be in the same sentence fella

He’s got nothing left to rant about. We can only hope that he finds Beta humming a Motley Crue song one day.

Maybe he can manage enough new lyrics to do a My World II
