I think a lot of people misunderstand the whole point of this project.

GNR and VR were always very serious bands.

This band is just a cool rock n roll band that play straight up rock songs. They're not trying to redefine rock or the music industry.

Slash is not pushing himself in this band because that's the whole point of this band.

Absolutely SMKC don't get me going like Guns or VR but not many bands do. They're a cool RNR band to enjoy live and on record.

However I would say they're more of a serious band than Guns. Based on what they release and they're kind enough to do UK tours

The last two SMKC records are so boring. I was a fan of his slash solo record and Apocalyptic Love but after

that the quality went downhill. Even Myles seem bored. I like his singing and melody writing  in Alter Bridge

and on his solo record. Why his stuff with slash is so average most of the timeI dont know. Maybe he is not that inspired by

the ideas of slash. There must be a reason. It seems like Slash needs an Diva like Axl or Scott to push him to

a better performance. Someone who says all the time "you can do better", "try harder".

It`s a shame that I dont like the latest record again. They are all great musicians but it really lacks of

good songwriting. and ideas with potential. Maybe they should write more of the music together

in the future. Maybe they think a good Slash Riff makes a good song but it takes more than that.

Especialyl the arrangements could be so much better almost on every song on "4".

I disagree as I really like the last 2 albums. They have some really great songs.

But that's a good point about Slash needing a Diva. I don't think Myles is dull I think he's just down to earth and not a premadonna.

I love SMKC but not as much as Guns and VR. But maybe Slash is too old for all the drama

Again, I'm not defending GNR. They're the definition of autopilot. Why would I go to an SMKC show if I don't like their music? Like I said, I'm sure they put on a fine show, but them releasing record after record of uninspired rock music proves that quantity doesn't trump quality.

Fair enough if you don't like it. But people who like music other than what Axl sings enjoy it. They haven't had a bad release for me.

Zep are a decent band I'll give you that one fella. Imagine if Myles had ended up singing for them. What would have chose razorblades or a noose?

So i got my 4 lp yesterday and sat down to play it tonight and side A is TAYLOR SWIFT folklore lmao wtf.  Side B is correct.  This is the purple indie store version.

Anyone else having an issue?  Who should I contact about this 😆

    That's insane in the membrane.

Where did you buy it from? Off the Slash site? What colour is it

What other "generic modern rock" band sounds like SMKC? 4 sounds anything but generic, the riffs and hooks Slash wrote are pretty creative and has a throwback 70's/80's rock vibe for the most part. Even Myles whose voice is an acquired taste has a distinctive voice.

They're a great band with great music. We'll have a 5th album in the next 2-3 years. That's fantastic. Slash has finally found a singer who's not a premadonna and can just work with making music

Anything would be better than the puddle water that is SMKC. Truly a band on autopilot.

Huh! They release new music, change the setlist and don't play the same cover songs for 30 years.

Go to a show and decide if you like it after the show rather than before

    Exactly.

Some GN'R fans will try to justify anything 😂 there's nothing stupid about the comparison. If anything is "stupid" it's wasting time trying to come up with reasons why GN'R fails at eveything they do.

The RHCP / GN'R comparison is valid on many levels. They're both rock bands. They've both gone through lineup changes over the years. They both bought back popular band members (fairly) recently. They both released new singles recently.

The difference is this: RHCP didn't half ass it. Not only did they make a real video that people would want to watch, but they actually promoted it with more than a few shitty "Fn social media" posts.

I'm not a huge RHCP fan, so I haven't actually listened to the song myself. But I'd be willing to bet that it doesn't sound like a 20 year old throw off song that's over produced and had even more layers added to it.

As I said before, GN'R fans will try to justify anything. There's always an excuse for GN'R failing or why it's not fair to compare them to bands who actually give a shit.

So yeah, there's nothing stupid whatsoever about the comparison.

Absolutely. All that too. Very valid comparison. I didn't think of the video. Effort and reward over half arsed.

Imagine if Led Zep released a new song. They've played 1 show I 42 years. I reckon they'd get more than 2.8m views but that would probably be a stupid comparison... because ... it just is

It is a stupid comparison. What are you trying to prove by comparing numbers? That RHCP are way more popular? Well duh, I could have told you that before both bands released a video. A band with one top ten hit after the other in the last two decades vs. a band with no real hit since the 90's. Gee, I wonder who is more popular circa 2022 and will get more views on a YouTube video?

As for promotion, again stating the obvious. Yes, GnR could promote a lot more. That being said, RHCP haven't gone out promoting their new single a lot yet either except for maybe a few interviews, but even without that, they would have reached a lot more views seeing as they have been a lot more relevant in the last twenty years.

Hmmm it's comparing 2 Stadium Rock Bands. One has 2.8m views in 4 months and the other 14m in 1 week. It's an eye opener as it's not close it's a complete landslide.

A good and interesting comparison ... I'm going to start listening to this @megaguns1982more

This has already been said, this is a stupid comparison. RHCP have been one of the biggest selling bands of the last twenty years. GnR hardly released music at all. If Slash had returned to the band in 1999, like Frusciante did in the RHCP, and released several hit records like the RHCP have, then this comparison might have made more sense, but this is not the case. RHCP have been way more relevant and successful in the last two decades.

It's not a stupid comparison it's a fair assessment of how Guns popularity and relevance have fallen. And how useless they are at promoting anything. The social media team should be sacked.

Guns touring has been successful as anyone over the last 6 years but the interest is dwindling

So the video for hardskool on YouTube is at 2.8m views after 4 months.

RhCP new song “black summer” is at 14m views after one week.

Both had a key band member return after a long period, it seems that RHCP are more about the art and the fans and GnR are about the $.

I’d argue that slash is more popular than John fruschante, but I guess it’s because rhcp is more mainstream and has a great social media presence, professional management and are actual friends away from being in a band together.

    watch and learn gnr

Interesting. I hadn't seen those stats. That's quite a landslide. Guns have certainly become boring

Watch and learn will fall on deaf ears with GNR Management.  The Twitter feed consists of random black n white photos

C’est La Vie is a banger dude. I immediately went back to the start on my first run through. It could’ve been better with a different singer probably but it still draws you in imo. I wish they would’ve spent more time on the actual album but I’ll give them a ton of credit for playing the whole thing live like this for the fans. Very cool.

I reckon it's the way forward for bands. It's great promotion for the album and you get to hear every song off the album live atleast once.

I never got to hear VR play Loving The Alien live which totally suckef
