I remember the stones did a tour (I think it was in the early 2000s) where they played a theater, and arena and a stadium all in the same city in the same week. I'd love to see and AFD5 reunion done similar to this, although I doubt they could do all 3 shows- maybe a theater and arena (or baseball stadium in some markets)
regarding Steven's line up changes, I would be that would come down to themoney. there's no way he pays those guys more than a grand each per show. cant live off that. probably why Izzy has never joined him for a song or two on any recent solo tours

sounds really great. is the singers name Prince Albert by any chance? lol

I'd like a version of civil war with Izzy on it.
14 years demo with different lyrics
atleast one of Axls sessions with Yoda on tape. lol

wishing Steven nothing but the best.
if there is a bright side here, it's that Steven will probably eventually tell us what happened, unlike GNR .
Hoping he just did what I did once- trying to open a box from amazon and I pulled the box cutter too hard toward myself and cut my leg. wasnt too bad, but I definetly felt stupid over it. Hopefully his story is something similar and nothing serious like some of the headlines report. BTW cant wait to see what kind of bullshit headline alternative nation comes up with for this. Scumbags.
Get better soon Steven!

one quick note- civil war isnt the last song featuring the AFD 5. Izzy doesnt play on it. for those who own the physical album check the booklet. Slash plays all 3 guitar parts. Izzy isnt listed at all. Dont bother with wiki as it is wrong.
I had no idea he didnt play on that song!
I would have figured he didnt play on Coma since he couldn't figure out how to play it live.

I'd be interested in a box set for UYI. I think the reason the AFD set didnt sell is because just about all of that music had been heard before and the price tag was waaaaaaaay too high for what amounted to 2 new demos and some rub on tattoos.
if they did it right then I'd buy- unheard songs/ shows at a reasonable price. but btw- dont they know none buys music anymore? maybe there could be an alternative to this that would work for everyone interested.
I think it was RussTB who was on appetite for distortion a year or so go had a suggested of releasing this kind of stuff as part of the nighttrain membership. I am probably misquoting him here, but I think he said something along the lines of paying a few bucks per month for a nighttrain membership and as part of that the band would release new videos of unseen shows and maybe some unheard songs. I think this is the best idea for GNR as they have a vault of proshot shows from the UYI tour that would probably generate a good income if released in this format vs a box set. plus it make it affordable for ALL fans and would keep us engaged until the new album drops in 2052.

here's the 6 person GNR cross.

wiki has soma city ward as giving Izzy a credit. But they also list me as the princess of Canada, so you cant always believe what's on there, lol.
I'm looking at the CD insert now and Izzy has no credits on any songs on the album nor is he thanks in the credits (neither is Axl). I'd upload a pic for those interested if I could figure out how to do that on my phone.
I didnt realize that Gilby got the sole credit on "Monkey Chow" until just now. thought that was cool

I would be so excited if Izzy wrote a few songs with them. But has anyone considered that maybe he doesnt want to be a rockstar anymore? Let's be honest, he doesnt tour, doesnt do anything with or for the fans. just records some songs when he feels like it on his terms. and honestly most of his solo stuff isnt that great- it all sounds the same. I mean, how many songs can one guy write about the weather. lol? The guy just seems like he doesnt want to do the rock thing any more, and thats ok. Its his life and he has that right.
Dont get me wrong, I'm thankful for Izzys contribution to GNR (especially the fact that he founded it) but I feel he has moved on. And so should we.
If Izzy has a song on the new record then that's the first one I'll play when I buy the darn thing. But I'm not counting on it. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm actually pretty excited to see what Richard has to bring to the songwriting process.

one of my favorites is Slashs guest performance on "Street Child" by Elan. Check it out if you haven't heard it

that guy does an outstanding impression of Axl. and I'm proud to say I heard of him before he becomes Steven Adlers next singer!

I think the singer is great. sounds more like Axl back in the day than Axl does today

for those wondering about that "ghost" pic- it is from Axls Twitter on dec 3 2014. he was referencing a fake story that came out that he was dead the day before. the tweet before this pic said "if I'm dead, do I still have to pay taxes?"
the pic appears to me to be on a computer monitor in the studio which he could have googled. in between takes of "rock the rock".
or it could be a double talkin jive reference to finding a head and an arm in a garbage can outside the music studio.
or more likely it is paul tobias' cryogenically frozen body waiting to be thawed out for when Axl is ready to have Slash leave again. lol

this author is a dick. lazy article. why would you put this out there? there is no substance to it. I agree with previous posts that there are things to criticize GNR about, but this is beyond lazy. instead of writing about a band you dont like, maybe pick one on the concert bill that you do like and tell us why? or if you are going to bitch about GNR, give us something other than your stupid ass opinion?
his next article will probably be "I hate Pizza because its stupid"
dumbass

Someone should follow the Arnies Pizza deliver person around on Saturday and when its inevitably time to deliver to Axls place give the delivery person a gentle sleeper hold and deliver the pizza. Then when the person answers the door... you guessed it: gentle sleeper hold. Deliver the pizza directly to the studio. Record audio!
you mean the chinese food delivery guy, right? lol
just to keep things real that chinese food is coming the day before Slash arrives. stay true to chinese left overs in every aspect!
in all honestly I just want to hear Slash and Axl on an original song. Been 28 yrs since we got to look forward to that (not counting Anxious Disease which they didnt write) its long over due. so Chinese leftovers or brand new stuff is fine with me. cant wait to hear it.

doubt it would happen. GNR is too big. but I kind of feel like if they do open for the stones, Izzy will somehow find his way up on that stage (hopefully with GNR).
only way I could see it happening is incase the needed the quick publicity to promote another box set or dvd release. or heaven forbid to promote a new song.

my perception as a young teen in 1992 was that Axl had an attitude of "I know who I am and I wont let others bring me down". i also looked at him as a guy who was raised in a not so good environment but got himself out of it. And he even tried to pull others up with him (Shannon Hoon). a few years ago I heard him give a pretty inspiring talk/ rant on YouTube during the UYI tour a out not letting others tell you who to be, etc. I loved that he carried the message of "dont let others be the boss of your life. Be you" - atleast I perceived his message to be that.
with Kurt I felt like he was a mentally troubled druggie who basically blamed others for his shitty upbringing or whatever. Talking shit about other people to bring them down only made him look like an idiot in my eyes. There was nothing positive about him other than talking about his newest record coming out.
I'm obviously looking at this through a GNR fanboy lens, but looking back now as an adult I think I was pretty accurate
as far as Axl and Kurt being friends now, who knows? i suppose we could ask Marc Cantor to see how forgiving Axl is.
I still cant figure out what Kurt's issue with GNR was? same industry, same label, same airplay on MTV, and alot of the same fans. I get that not everyone wants to be Axl Rose. But if you would listen to Axl you dont have to be him to be cool or happy. just be you.

I really used to like Nivanas music, but always cringed when Cobain opened his mouth. it's like "hey we just sold out this show in a 3000 seat theater and we can all have a good time, but if this was a 30000 seat area filled, then that would suck.
corporate sucks but I'm on the same label as GNR
anything popular sucks, except Nirvana
Being like those other bands sucks but I make music videos to increase my popularity and do the same drugs and go to the same popular awards shows as the unoriginal bands I hate
that crap got old really quick and I thought that guy did nothing but contradict himself and make himself sound like a whiny bitch.
I wonder what Cobain would have thought of the Foo Fighters?

Dizzy Reed's solo album is way better than any duff mckagan solo effort
Steven Adlers Back from the Dead album as a whole was better than any Izzy solo album as a whole.

That's what I think. I realize it's hard to write a love song and not make it sappy, but some people can do it. But he's not always sappy, sometimes he's informative, like giving us weather reports:
I've been thinkin' bout the weather, It's been pretty good this trip
Outran a thunderstorm 2 days ago, I did not expect this...
117 degrees, 117
117 or so I'm told, I don't know
hahaha. he just needed to give an update on the barometer and we would be all set for the day.
the follow up to 117 degrees should be called "swamp ass"

Izzy Stradlin is a butthead (dont think I can use the word I want on this forum, but it has to do with the butt part of the body)
GNR are way better than Led Zep. (IMO)

Malcom Gladwell is very respected and super intelligent and would have no reason to make this up. but in all honesty, he doesnt come across as a gnr fan, so how would he know what axl looked like in 2006? I doubt Malcolm was like "oh wow corn rows, jeans and a blazer... that must be AXL!!" Would the casual fan have recognized him in 2006???
if it was me it would have been the truth: "80s hair cut, a GNR shirt, cassette player playing WASP, and a car load of chicks with mullets.... ADLER!!!!!" (I def could see Adler doing this... lol. jk)
Rumors of Izzy & Steven returning?

regarding Izzys worth, if we are talking about song writing credits, then he absolutely deserves equal loot. but how valuable are the songs? dont get me wrong without the songs there would be no band, however Axl had the band name and a very similar set list to the NITL shows in 2012 and was playing to half empty theaters in Vegas.
Slash comes back and they instantly go to playing football stadiums, with the same exact songs. nothing new, unless you count Coma and 3 more cover songs.
if it was Izzy who came back and not Slash, they would still be playing theaters. he has no social media following, barely sells any records whenever it is that he decides to release them, doesnt do press and is honestly the least fan friendly member of the band. and that's saying something for this band.
So if we determine value by putting asses in the seats, then no, Izzy does not deserve equal share as Slash or Duff. Only people that will care that Iz is back will be the hardcore fans, most of whom are on this message board (me included).
