Was Slash ever interviewed by Kimmel?

    That'd be great!

Slash was actually a guest host for a week on Kimmel back in 2003 before VR.  sat on the couch next to the guests and chimed in from time to time.  he did pretty well.

i think I have most of the episodes on VHS somewhere.  One night he, Dave, duff and Matt played with Cyprus Hill one night.  played Rock Superstar which can probably still be found on YouTube

  2. It will be very interesting to see how they go about releasing new music. The one positive is that there will be new music coming from the big three. However there's a ton of negative that will follow that. Either the new music sounds exactly like the old music and they didn't evolve, or the new music doesn't sound anything like the old music and it sucks, and regardless of what happens album sales will be way down which the media will have a field day with talking about how big of a disappointment it is. So I think it's an uphill battle for them to release anything, but I'll be very excited if they do. Especially if they could write with Izzy

At the same time, it's hard to think that they wouldn't release any new music if they're going to continue to tour the way they are. With Slash's financial situation I can't imagine that he can afford to leave the band. And I can't imagine the band will continue to sell out stadiums without something new to bring to the audience. Now, if the appetite five reunite then I'm sure they could probably do a very similar tour to not in this lifetime. But outside of that, I think ticket sales will start to decline unless there's something new to offer

  3. I'd do the same if I were slash. bc one click bait title could send axl off the deep end (assuming history is accurate and he is still sensitive like that)

it's not cool when so many of these stories twist words into looking like an artist said something they didn't.  just look at any alternative nation headline.  I'm serious.

drama and bad news sells.  peace, punctuality and civility don't.  so these journalists got to "get the scoop" many times by making one up.

and then ultimately the artist gets left having to make peace with his bandmates over a misunderstanding.  just look at slash rolling stone interview from the 90s where axl got mad at him and returned the straight jacket slash gave him for his birthday.  according to slashs books that took a while for them to work out.

if the GNR powder keg goes off and slash gets fired, he goes broke quick.

  4. my guess is he is reading this message board out loud to a bunch of supermodels in between rounds of a 13 way (14 if you count the ferret) and getting so upset he starts throwing the girls out of the gnrair plane they are on.   lucky the plane is parked on the ground and no-one from TB has had the balls to tell him that the airport in every major city  DOESN'T actually look exactly like his back yard.

  5. do you remember one year ago when Meegan posted a clip with no sound of duff, Slash and London at soundcheck I'm Hershey?  said there was no sound bc it was new music.

I think a new album is a no win situation for them.  if they do AFD2 they will get  criticized for releasing more dad Rock.

if they go the ChiDem route they will get criticized for not doing an AFD2.

and no matter what the album won't sell bc music doesn't sell anymore.  and then people will complain bc GNR shows will have 6 new songs meaning they have to cut some classic songs out (bc we all know you cant cut the seeker from the set list.  or the other 5 covers.....)

but regardless I'm hoping they get a few songs recorded.  hopefully with Izzy being involved in the song writing process.  not holding my breath

  6. this picture is the same poster that came with the box set they just released!  over 200 dollars????  seriously?  cant we even get a never seen pic?

honestly a pic of the current line up would be nice. did they ever release a proper band pic with Melissa and crew?  still milking Adler and Izzy image I see.

    whatever.

    this is getting ridiculous

  7. good putting petition together.  very cool.  i signed with zero expectations that izzy will do anything or care.  but i also didnt think NITL would happen so i cant wait to be wrong again

do you guys think he wants to be a rockstar any more?  u think he regrets being one at one point in his life?  seems like he doesn't want that life anymore and that's cool.  we all change.

either way, hope Izzy knows sees the petition and knows he still has a ton of fans that care about him.  hope he feels the same about us.

  8. I'm excited to see slash at a smaller and more affordable venue.

I think the solo thing normally doesn't help artists, but how many artists were out of the band they were best known for for 20 years?  kinda feels like slash is an exception  to this just because his career was so different than a Joe Perry or whoever.

as far as GNR songs go, I'm sure he'll play paradise city, but I'm really hoping he does some deeper cuts like locomotive or something like that.  I'm totally cool if he keeps it to a maximum of 3 gnr songs.

Ancient evil: yes I see you’re point, he almost died from drugs and cleaned himself up and stuck with it, very proud of him for that, he had to put his life first before the band and it must have been hell

On a side note, has anyone been to axl and izzy’s Home town ( Lafayette)? I really want to go and check out that pizza place axl loves

that pizza place will mail their food to you (on dry ice I assume).  I've been meaning to order some stuff from them and haven't got around to it.

There you go. A GNR member interview for you.

first off the above post is 100 percent spot on.  but if it's not too late I'd like to submit questions to that Iceland radio host for consideration and most of all penetration:

Axl please fill in the blanks:

my street clothes are the same as my stage clothes and yet we have a wardrobe manager because_________

I brought back my leather skeleton jacket from 1988 but wont wear my "nobody knows I'm a lesbian" t shirt because_____

GNR Air is more likely to do barrel rolls while filled with elderly people than we will release new songs because________

there is or is not a minimum number of skeletons pictured on every gnr shirt _______

you have waited a long time for iceland.  how long do you usually wait for penetration?

  11. That's how much of a fan I am and how much I think the relationship between this band and it's fans needs repairing.

I totally agree.  hopefully they dont wait until it's too late.  you know, after 7 yrs of this tour, same set list, no interviews, more skeleton t shirts.  Eventually even the diehard fans will grow tired and move on.

in regard to the General, I don't think I want to hear it now that I know what it's about. being a parent brings that stuff into a different perspective.  But at the same time we can't just put our head in the sand and pretend this evil doesn't exist.

would be cool if and when they released that song they donated all proceeds feom that song to a child abuse shelter/ charity.  God knows the victims could use the money... and outside of having to pay Perla, do these guys really need 500 million dollars?  im not one to penalize or criticise those who have earned a successful living, just saying it could be a cool thing to do.

......or perhaps they can just reinvest the money for another clothing line with skeletons on them.  the world certainly needs more of that!!!

  12. When the hits from appetite come on, everyone still loves the songs.

However casual fans tend to ask me how I could spend so much money going to the NITL shows when Axl looks and sounds so bad (based on YouTube views as well as the show at the o2 arena (pre reunion) that is on TV sometimes).

So in my experience casual fans still love AFD, but think GNR is kind of a has been thing.  And none of them have ever heard of Chinese Democracy.

Kinda sucks that I only have one friend who likes GNR almost as much as I do, but thats why Im glad this board exists so I know that there are others out there like me that love this band.

  13. I saw Axl live for the very first time in Camden in 2011. I remember leaving the show very disappointed. It was Axl and a bunch of session players. And the worst part for me is that Axl left the stage for what seems like half of the show. Between wardrobe changes and then a bumblefoot solo, a DJ Solo, dizzy solo, pretty sure the guy selling cotton candy got a solo in there somewhere. As much as I wanted to love the first show, I left having no desire to see Axl and this incarnation of "GNR" live again.  The show felt more like it was a concert of session players with sporadic appearances by Axl.   I felt that it wasn't worth me giving me up my hard-earned money for another show like that. I've been a GNR fan for 25 years I saw Velvet Revolver four times, Slash a whole bunch of times on his own and so for me to not want to see Axl anymore is saying something. I just felt the show wasn't good. And I would imagine that many people that went to these shows felt the same way which is why the crowds got smaller and smaller

But then the reunion happened and I ended up going to three  shows and absolutely loved every single one of them. sold out crowds, better atmosphere, on time, etc

First I think the band has all the right to protect their copyright and all. But look at how other established acts treat their fansbase and compare that to GN'R. There is no official "channel" to communicate, no spokesperson, everything is hush-hush, closed circle or no communication at all - resulting in hearsay, lies, rumours and bored people doing stupid shit hurting the band and other fans when in the end all of them have one thing in common that should unite all: they passionately love the band and their music.

From the outside, it looks more like a take the money and run situation, yet when you meet them in person they turn out to be really nice people who actually seem to care for their fans. So why not just organise it all a bit better, open up a bit more and in that control and eventually dry the swamp of bullshit in a much nicer and effective manner? The way they go about it now makes all the "real" fans suffer for loving the band as just because they don't feel like dealing with the bs they shut everything down. I don't get it. They make it all too hard for everyone. Guess it comes with the territory of letting friends and family handle the business? I don't know any other band in the history of music that has a more strained relationship with their hrdcore fans. Just relax everyone, it might take away a bit from the mistique but it might take everything to the next level and sustain much nicer into the future.

I completely agree with this. I've been such a huge GNR fan for 25 years. And yet I feel as if they treat their fans as "we do what we want and you have the privilege to listen to them".  now,  I don't truly think that's the case. I do think that they are appreciative of their fans. But the way they go about doing things, it just doesn't seem like it. Take for instance last week's box set release. None of the members promoted it. It would have been really cool to get a couple quotes from Axl just talking about the recording of some of those songs. Or even slash.  Instead it was "pay us a couple hundred bucks and will give you the privilege of owning versions of songs that you've already heard many times in the last 15 years". The hardcore fans are the only ones that purchased that box set, and we heard 95 percent of this stuff. I think we deserve a little bit more.

But at the same time I'm sure the bands point of view is that we don't have to buy it, or anything associated with the band. We have the choice of whatever we purchase.

I just wish that they were more fan-friendly.

  15. not trying to dissuade anyone from going up front. but I got up front for VR during their first tour and it was miserable.  it was all dudes and it felt like I had wrestled each one of them but the end of the show.  every time slash would come to our side of the stage, the whole crowd would move with him.  meaning that I was left to fight for my front row spot.

so if u are gonna do this, make sure you are in shape, well hydrated and wearing a diaper!

  16. drop:  kohd, the seeker, black hole sun, Wichita line, godfather, new rose, and maybe slither, coma and yesterdays. Definitely get rid of the Seeker

add:  Anastasia, something from loaded for duff like Sick, locomotive, bad obsession, breakdown, black leather, dust n bones

in all honestly I have been to 3 shows on this tour and found them to be a bit long. sometimes less is more (and I'm a huge gnr fan).  so I am in favor of cutting the setlist down by 5 songs

He's probably bored as fuck with the whole thing and knew since day one what and how the tour was going to be, Slash has always been a simple guy that just wants to play rock n roll, but now he sees himself caged while doing what he loves the must, it probably turns him off.

He cant talk, he has to follow strict rules, he cant play new songs, he cant change the setlist... He is basically a prisoner. I would feel extremelly bored too.

And he probably doesnt care for the Chinese songs, we all know those arent the kind of songs Slash would even consider listen to at his car and thats probably the reason he never bothered on writting a decent solo and thats why he always change em, cause he didnt care to writte one.

just to point out that he might really feel like a prisoner ince his divorce is settled.  based on the reports, he owes perla so much money that he won't ever be able to leave GNR and will have to tour when they say, play what say, promote what they say (GNRAIR)

  18. it's funny, when people brought this up in 2012 they said his playing wasn't up to par with the old stuff bc he doesn't have a singer that inspires him.  well now he has his Axl back and I agree with those that say he sucks at TIL.  he should have done way better with that solo

he is still the star of the show though.  hard to deny that.

in my opinion, his life has changed so much since he was a 21 yr old boozing needle and spoon, broke dude with high aspirations.  millions of dollars and never having to open your own door and believing your own hype (and being critized by thousands of strangers) for 25 yrs will change you and I would have to think that would impact your songwriting to a major extent. it's not like he's a naive guitar player with these huge aspirations.  he already accomplished them.  easy to get comfortable
